My Favourite Highlighters For Every Budget

Highlighters For Ever Budget

We’re coming up to that time of year when our gorgeous summer glows start to fade and our skin begins to look a bit dull. There are some incredible highlighters out there, you don’t have a spend a fortune on to get a gorgeous glow. It was one product I used to skip, but since trying out a number of brands I’ve found a few that I totally love and couldn’t be without.

Here are some of my absolute favourites, from powders to liquids, they can all be used to enhance a summer tan or add some warmth to winter skin.

Liquid Highlighters

It took me a while to get into liquid highlighters but then I discovered GOSH Lumi Drops . These are so easy to use, just add a small amount to the back of my hand, then using my finger tips I apply and blend the highlighter to the tops of my cheek bones and along my brow bone or mix it with my foundation for an all over radiant glow. I expected it to be be a runny consistency, but it’s more like a gel, so they’re a lot easier to handle. I have the shades Peach and Rose Gold, which are absolutely stunning, they look a lot darker in the bottle, however they are both light, pearly colours and look beautiful after I’ve blended them in.

Barry M Liquid Chrome Highlighter Drops are absolutely incredible, they’re in a glass bottle with a pipette applicator making it easy to use. I apply these the same as the GOSH ones, blending it in with a beauty sponge. It dries quick, giving off a stunning glow, making it quite possibly one of the best highlighters I’ve ever had. They’re available in 5 different shades and cost £6.99 each, so super affordable.

After cleansing and moisturising my skin I applied a small amount of Boots No7 Skin Illuminator all over my face. I’ve literally been obsessed with this product ever since I discovered it last month. It instantly enhances your complexion for a natural looking radiance, it has an iridescent shimmer that reflects the light to give your skin that perfect healthy glow. It can be used in 3 different ways, as a primer before your foundation, mixed in with your base product or used as a highlighter on your cheeks and brow bones. It’s not glittery, so ideal for using during the day, whatever time of year it is.

Makeup Revolution Liquid Highlighter as it’s a multi purpose product. The liquid is highly concentrated, so you’ll only need to use the tiniest amount. It can be added to your foundation or skincare for an all over natural glow, or used to highlight specific areas. I wasn’t too keen on this one when I tried it all over my face as it’s a really glittery highlighter, but it does give such a pretty glow. I much preferred dabbing it across my cheek bones for a much more subtle look.  I think I’ll be saving this one for an evening out, plus it would look incredible at Christmas.

Highlighting Palettes

I’m still obsessed with Too Faced Sweet Peach Glow Palette. For an everyday glowy look I use the golden peachy blush shade on my cheeks just to add a natural hint of colour and using a fan brush I’ll sweep the highlighter shade over my cheek bones, as it gives just the right amount of shimmer when the light catches it. It’s such a pretty cheek palette, the powders are incredibly soft, blend in wonderfully and the shades are super pigmented. This one came in my travel bag when I went away for a few days last month. If I’m going on a night out and I’m after a more intense highlighter then I’ll reach for the Tarte Skin Twinkle Highlighting palette, which gives the most incredible glow..

Revolution Renaissance Illuminating Radiant in the shade Rose is a pretty amazing drug store palette that really packs a punch. It’s an absolute bargain for only £8. There are three rose toned pressed shimmer powders that can be used as blusher, highlighter or eyeshadow to give skin incredible glow. You can swirl them together or use them individually. The packaging is gorgeous, a beautiful rose gold compact that slides into a soft pink velvet sleeve.

No7 Shimmer Palette is a fab one, it’s perfect for an all year round glow it’s made up of shades to flatter any skin tone, giving an extra lift to your complexion. The mix of colours mean it can be used to enhance a summer tan or add warmth to winter skin.

Powder Highlighters

Tanya Burr Illuminating Powder

I first fell in love with the shade Peonies Please after seeing it on YouTube, so I was determined to hunt it down. Honestly it is so pretty with a soft baked feel and an almost marble effect to it. This Illuminating Powder is probably more of an all over cheek product as it adds a rosey colour as well as highlighting. I apply it with a fan brush as it’s extremely pigmented and this allows me to build up the colour gradually. It’s perfect for adding a healthy glow without being too over the top glittery.

Makeup Revolution Sun Kiss Highlighter in the shade Champagne Kiss, and this has to be my most favourite thing from this haul. I mean, it looks incredible and I can’t get over the size of it, it’s huge. I love the rose gold packaging which makes it look much more expensive that it actually is. The highlighter is super intense, I started of just using a small amount on my brush and gently blending it in. The colour looks so pretty, it’s perfect for any time of the year.
