Random facts About Me

I first published this post back in 2016 over on my original blog, but I thought I’d give it an update and refresh the photos. I enjoy finding out little snippets of information about people and thought it would be nice for you to learn more about me. You may already know some of it if you follow me on social media, so sit back, grab a cuppa and read on to find out more about me.

Random Facts About Me

  • My first Saturday job was working for Superdrug to earn some extra cash while I was at college
  • I have a rare neurological disability which got worse after a very bad relapse in 2004 and now I cannot walk or stand at all, I have very bad seizures, spasms, pain and various other symptoms. I’m also registered blind, although I do have some sight, not all people who are registered blind have complete loss of sight.
  • I don’t like posting photos of me in my wheelchair, I’d like people to see me, not a set of wheels and an illness, it doesn’t define who I am.
  • My favourite Disney films are Beauty and the Beast and Sleeping Beauty, I love them both
  • I am 5 foot 7 1/2 inches tall (the half is very important!) and a shoe size 5
  • When I was 18 I went through a faze of wearing tie dyed skirts and DM boots
  • When I was 20 I used to be part of a pit stop crew for a bike drag racing team at Santa Pod

Random Facts About Me

  • I am an only child by my parents but have a half sister from my dads second marriage, I’m from his third marriage.
  • I don’t have any tattoos and only have my ears pierced once
  • I’ve had a nerve operation on my left ankle which has left me with a scar and a lump around that area
  • I collect thimbles from places we’ve visited and commemorative mugs
  • I hate the smell of fried food and garlic
  • My dream holiday would be to visit Australia, but I’ve never been abroad. I’d also love to visit New York and Paris, the city of romance.
  • I can’t have children thanks to having Endometreosis and a number of gynaecological operations, before my operations I had two miscarriages, one was quite late on in my pregnancy. I’m lucky I have loads of relatives and friends with children so I’m able to love and spoil them.

  • My favourite colour is pink, my favourite flowers are roses and lilies.
  • I love porridge with blueberries and almond milk for breakfast
  • Apart from my cat Pepper, who I have now, I’ve also had two dogs Sandy and Cassy, plus another cat Munchkin
  • I passed my driving test first time when I was 18, but I’m not able to drive now thanks to a disability
  • Adrian and I had a small wedding in a local registry office
  • I didn’t go to Uni, after leaving school I worked as a Nanny for a while and decided to do a Business Studies course at College
  • My first full time job in retail was for New Look which I absolutely loved, I’ve also worked for Next and Orange/EE Mobile.

Random Facts About Me

  • I worked in a pub in the evenings for about 3 months while I was studying but absolutely hated it.
  • I love learning new things about our history, I’ll read books, watch documentaries and read stuff on line. It varies from social history to the history of art and fashion.
  • I am scared stiff of spiders and clowns and will scream the place down at the sight of them
  • I love being snuggled up under my duvet and listening listening to the rain, it’s so relaxing
  • I cry at everything sad in a film or TV program, one bit of sad music and that’s it, I’m off
  • My favourite feel good films are Clueless, Dirty Dancing, Pretty Woman and Bridget Jones, as for TV shows, well that ranges from Sex and the City, Friends, The Walking Dead and any of these box sets I enjoy watching. Recently I’ve been gripped by The Bodyguard and The Handmaid’s Tale.
  • I have an obsession with hats, shoes and jewellery
  • My nose got broken when I was a child and has been slightly wonky ever since
  • My father died when I was 2, so I never got to know him and I spent time growing up with my Nan, Aunts and a foster mother
  • I did ballet when I was at school, I wasn’t very good at it thanks to my disability which wasn’t that bad when I was very young. I still enjoy watching a ballet on the TV or at the theatre.
  • A guilty pleasure, well it’s quite embarrassing but here goes…..I love listening to Abba ( please don’t judge, haha!)
