Urban Decay Naked Palette, Bary M Liquid Highlighter Drops

I wanted this month to end on a much more positive note than the last life update I wrote. In the back of my diary I’ve been writing down of all the happy moments from October as well some of the beauty products I’ve loved using over the last few weeks.

First of all, one of the best bits of news this month is that I was nominated for Most Addictive Blog in the We Are 30 Plus Awards. I honestly couldn’t believe it believe it and had to read the tweet 3 times just to make sure it was me.

I’m not sure how my makeup storage ends up in such a mess but I’ve had another good sort out. I’m now more organised after putting some old beauty subscription boxes in my drawers and purchasing a couple of clear acrylic makeup holders from Amazon, which makes it a lot easier to find things as all my products have their own home. It also means I’ve been able to see what products I have so I can start using them up and I’ve loved experimenting with makeup looks for Autumn.

The Body Shop Vanilla Pumpkin Shower Gel

I’ve loved using The Body Shop Vanilla Pumpkin Shower Gel, it smells absolutely divine. I bought the first bottle literally as soon as it came in to stock then luckily for me a few weeks later I found I’d got a £5 loyalty voucher to spend, so I treated myself to another one. It’s a thick creamy consistency which lathers up really well and it’s extremely moisturising on my skin. Perfect for a shower anytime of the day during Autumn.

The Body Shop Oils Of Life Sleeping Cream

If you’ve read my last post you’ll already know how much I’ve enjoyed using The Body Shop Oils Of Life Sleeping Cream. It’s packed with 3 Precious Seed Oils and a powerful blend of 7 essential oils, it smells amazing and is beautiful to use. It’s a light creamy, gel consistency and absorbs in quickly, I’ve been using this every night before bed and the following morning my skin feels so soft and looks radiant. Just the thing I need in my beauty routine during the colder months.

Barry M Liquid Chrome Highlighting Drops

I’ve never totally got on well with liquid highlighters until I came across these ones from Barry M. The Liquid Chrome Highlighting Drops are simply incredible, they come in a glass bottle with a pipette applicator making it easy to use. I apply a small drop onto the back of my hand then dot it across my cheek bones and blend it in with a beauty sponge. It dries quick, giving off a stunning glow, making it quite possibly the best highlighter I’ve ever had. They’re available in 5 different shades and cost £6.99 each, so super affordable.

A walk in the woods on an autumnal day

What ever the weather I love getting out for a walk in the woods, getting some fresh air and away from the computer for a while. Adrian and I have made this a regular thing and been on some extra long walks this month, it seems even more fun wrapping up warm and exploring somewhere new, having no particular route to take. We’ve even been taking a flask of tea and a packet of biscuits, just to keep our energy levels up of course.

October and Halloween Fun

Wednesday Addams Makeup Look

It wouldn’t be October without mentioning Halloween and this year I can actually say I’ve been enjoying it so far. We’ve added a few little touches around the home such as candles and fairy lights, the Halloween music has been on and we’ve watched a couple of fun spooky movies (nothing too scary!) I’m so proud of myself for making it to a Halloween party in fancy dress, who knew I’d have so much fun.

What things have you enjoyed this month?

Wednesday Addams Fancy Dress

I am so pleased I made it to the Halloween Party, yay! This is the first real Halloween Party I’ve been to because I’ve had a real fear of masks for years, I’ve been working with a counsellor to get to the bottom of things and it has been extremely hard work. I’m not completely over it but when a group of my friends suggested we all got together for Halloween I thought it’d be a great idea, even if it was a real challenge. We’ve all had the same fear, so it was nothing too scary, just a load of fun, and I am so bloomin proud of myself for going.

I’m sure my outfit is not the best in the world but the fact that I even got out the door is a huge leap for me. I haven’t decided whether I look scary or simply hilarious, but either way, I thought I’d share a few pics with you.

Wednesday Addams Fancy Dress Costume

A few years ago I dressed up as Witch, my friend brought her two children round who were also dressed up as cute little witches. Does that count as a Halloween party? This year I chose to dress up as Wednesday Addams from the film The Addams Family. I’m not brave enough to dye my hair black so as you can tell I am wearing a wig which I picked up from Amazon, I also managed to pick up the dress and tights from there too and the whole outfit cost around £20.

The makeup up was done by Rhian who runs A Touch Of Pink Beauty, she is a mobile beautician with over 10 years experience and offers a range of different treatments from a facial or a massage to a manicure or pedicure. It’s much easier having someone come to the house as I can’t get into a lot of the beauty salons in my area, but I’m always a bit nervous before they arrive. Rhian put me at ease straight away with her calming personality, we also had a good laugh about life in general so that may have helped. We’d already discussed what look I was after so she’d time to prepare, I didn’t want to sneak a look until she had completely finished. Rhian used Front Cover powder and pen for the eyemakeup and Special FX for the face and lips. It was a total shock seeing myself wearing a black wig, looking deathly pale with black lipstick but I must say I think she has done an amazing job.

I ended up having a wonderful night out with my friends, enjoying their company, a few sweet treats and the Halloween CD playing in the background.

Are you doing anything for Halloween this year?

The Body Shop Oils Of Life

There’s something really special about doing a nightly skincare routine just before I go to bed, it’s not only beneficial to my skin but also helps make me feel relaxed and ready for sleep. I’ve been using various products from The Body Shop for years and until recently I have been using their Vitamin E Night Cream, which is light enough through the warmer months. I was after a deep, hydrating over night cream that doesn’t clog up my pores and came across The Oils Of Life range, I decided to give the Sleeping Cream a try.

The Body Shop Oils Of Life

The Body Shop Oils Of Life Range Sleeping Cream

The Body Shop Oils Of Life Sleeping Cream is a deep hydrating over night cream that get’s to work on your face, neck and decollete. It’s packed with 3 precious seed oils and 7 essential oils from around the world, this cream helps to repair and restore your skin  while you sleep.

The 3 Precious Seed oils are:

Rosehip oil – rich is Omega 3 and 6

Black Cumin oil – high in antioxidants

Camellia oil – rich in nutritive oleic acid

The Powerful Blend Of 7 Essential Oils:

Lavender Oil – known for it’s calming properties

Rosemary Leaf Oil – helps to improve the skins tone

Geranium oil – boosts the skin’s radiance

Orange Peel Oil – revitalises the skin

Lavandin oil – stimulates collagen

Majoram Leaf oil for it’s fragrance

Roman Chamomile Oil – for it’s calming properties

When I first got this I thought it was going to be rather oily, instead it’s a light, creamy gel like consistency and the most gorgeous fragrance that almost made me feel like I was in a Spa treatment room. Naturally I did wonder if I’d be able to use this as I have sensitive skin, luckily I had no reaction what so ever. The Body Shop Oils Of Life Sleeping cream had quite the opposite effect, the essential oils helped calm down any redness I had after cleansing.

After applying my usual serum I’ve been gently massaging this into my face and neck every evening so the cream could work over night. It absorbs in really quickly, not like some heavier creams that take ages and seem to sit on top on my skin. This one didn’t feel sticky or greasy afterwards and definitely made my complexion look more radiant, I love the soothing feeling it had on my skin.

The Body Shop Oils Of Life

The following morning I woke up with super soft, hydrated skin, which also looked plumper. The Body Shop Oils Of Life Sleeping Cream had completely got rid of any dry patches and evened out my skin tone, basically anything that makes me look as though I’ve had a full 8 hours sleep will always get my vote.

I’ve been using this cream for a few weeks now, my skin feels more nourished and looks more radiant that it’s done in a while, it will be perfect for the colder months when I need something a bit more intense than my normal night cream. Massaging it into my skin is such a wonderful experience and combined with the gorgeous smell of essential oils that do actually work makes me want to use The Body Shop Oil’s Of Life Sleeping Cream night after night. I’d definitely recommend it, plus it’s suitable for all skin types including oily and combination skin. It’s reasonably priced at £29.00 for an 80ml tub and it will last quite a while as you don’t need to use too much.

The Body Shop Oils Of Life

I can’t wait to try out some more of the Oils Of Life Range from The Body Shop. You may also like to read My Skincare Routine where I also talk about thier Vitamin E range.

Glossybox Review

If you didn’t already know, the October 2017 Glossybox has an extra special theme and this month it’s Unicorns Vs Mermaids! I was secretly hoping mine would arrive in the unicorn box as there are two different designs, they cost £10 each plus postage and packing and it’s filled with amazing products that will definitely brighten up a dull Autumn day.

So you can safely say I was over the moon when I opened up the packaging and found which design I’d been sent and you can be sure that I’m keeping the box for storage in my office, regardless of what’s inside. Anyway, onto what products came with the October Glossybox.

Mermaids vs Unicorns Glossy Box

Makeup Revolution Eyeshadow Palette

Full Size – RRP £4.00

Makeup Revolution is one of my favourite drugstore brands and this palette is absolutely gorgeous, it’s possible to create so many different looks with these 12 vibrant colours. Perfect, as I’m still attempting to be slightly more adventurous with my makeup. Each shade is highly pigmented, the powder has almost a creamy feel and blends in really easily, I’m pretty sure as with most of Makeup Revolution eyeshadows this one lasts well too. It’s got to be worth every penny.

Glossy Box October 2017

Kawaii Enterprise Brush Cleaning Egg

Full Size – RRP 7.99

I already have a larger brush cleaning egg but anything that saves me time on this weekly chore is always a winner, even better as it comes in pink. I think this one would be perfect for eyeshadow or medium sized face brushes, especially if you haven’t got many to clean. As with my other brush cleaner I wouldn’t use it on my makeup sponges, I’d worry they’d split. These brush cleaning eggs are extra gentle and do get your makeup brushes super clean, I simply use a tiny amount of baby shampoo with mine. It’s such a handy tool to have.

Glossybox October 2017

Lord & Berry Magic Brow Pencil

Sample Size

I don’t have that many brow products and was excited to see this pencil inside this months Glossybox. It came in the shade Brunette but mimics the natural colour found in your brows. It’s super pigmented and really soft, making it easy to apply. I think this one will get so much use in the coming months.

Glossybox October

Beauty Bang Cream Colour

Full Size – RRP “20.00

This is one of those products that is designed for practically everything from a blusher, highlighting cheek bones and as an eyeshadow or lipstick. It’s so simple to use, just by dabbing it on with your finger tips and applying the colour where ever you want it. I think this shade will make a stunning highlighter and a really neutral lip shade, perfect if I’m in a hurry but don’t want to go completely bare faced.

Glossybox October 2017

Sleek Creme To Powder Blusher

Full Size – RRP £5.99

First of all, let’s ignore the fact that I am the world’s most clumsiest person and ended up putting my finger through  the blusher as I was taking the plastic wrapper off ready to take this photo. I’m not a great fan of cream blushers but this one feels so silky soft and easy to blend with a makeup sponge. The shade is absolutely stunning and I’m sure I’ll be using it for both both day and evening looks.

Glossybox October 2017

This has to be probably my favourite Glossybox ever with such a cute, colourful theme, plus this month there are four gorgeous full sized products, how fab is that? There are a couple of new brands for me to try and two that I already adore almost every product they have. You can also get your hands on an embroidered sweatshirt for £29.99 from their website, but you’ll need to be quick as there’s only a limited supply.

Glossybox is a monthly subscription box which costs £10 per box, plus postage and packaging, each month there is a different theme. I can’t wait to see what the November box will include.

Have you tried a beauty subscription box?

my autumn bucket list

Yes, I do realise it’s probably a bit late in the day to be writing an Autumn Bucket List and at the speed we’re going it’ll be time to write my New Year Goals, but what the heck, there’s still time left to have some fun, isn’t there?

You may have seen on Twitter that I was without Internet for about a week, thanks to a couple of different departments at Virgin not acknowledging where the fault was. Hopefully that’s all fixed now, but boy did I miss not having the internet. Not just for social media but to type up these posts and  NO NETFLIX!! Note to self, save up and buy a lap top so I can sit in a cafe using their WiFi and work on my blog, or at least pretending to be while actually secretly watching my favourite series and sipping my fifth pumpkin spiced latte!

autumn bucket list

On another not so good note, I’ve not been feeling my usual happy self, a mixture of hormones being all over the place, having a rotten cold that has knocked me for six and a general feeling of where am I bloomin well going with my life. I know, bad combination! I came so close to giving up blogging, numbers were getting in the way, the comparison thing kicked in (which it’s never done before by the way!) and worrying too much that I was an extremely tiny fish in a very big ocean. I’m sure everyone’s had these thoughts at some point but I felt totally alone, like I my printed words were floating around in a big white room, with no doors or windows and no one could see them. It had absolutely nothing to do with being sent free stuff or being invited to events because I know I’ll never be able to attend them. It was more a question of why? Why am I even bothering to sit here every week stressing over schedules, stats, SEO, titles and photos if I can’t take my blog anywhere (told you I was hormonal). Shutting myself away in my room was definitely not the answer to all my problems, although it felt good at the time.

Then I joined in The Girl Gang chat on the Monday as I do every week and the topic was happiness and self care. I must have unintentionally come across as feeling down by the answers I gave because afterwards I had so many people message me to ask if I was OK and it honestly made me cry. Two things were said to me that made me snap out of the gloomy place I was in: “Numbers don’t define you” and “Remember why you blog.”

I started reading my old blog posts to remember why I actually started in the first place, OK so I won’t win journalist of the year as they were pretty basic, but who cares, I flippin loved them! I scrolled through old photos on my Instagram and Facebook when I wasn’t worrying about followers, likes or flatlays, and do you know what, they made me feel so happy. Of course I care when someone is kind enough to take time out of their busy day and leave a lovely comment or like a photo I’ve spent time on, don’t get me wrong, but as someone said “Numbers don’t define you.” After a few more tears, tantrums and talking to other bloggers who managed to talk some sense into me (plus plenty of chocolate) I started to fall back in love with Rosie Loves Life. I think if I hadn’t sorted myself out Adrian would have permanently moved into the shed with his crash helmet on to avoid the cups beings thrown in temper!

So I shall post what I enjoy posting about, whether that’s on my blog or social media, I know I can’t please everyone and there’s no point in even trying. Of course, if anyone does like what I’ve done please let me know as it really does make my day. I also want to say a big thank you to Holly, Sarah, Fiona and Amie for letting me moan away and to Stacey for the cutest happy mail she sent me through the post.

autumn bucket list

In other news, I have been invited to a Halloween party and in case you’re new to my blog I had a fear of masks, mainly clowns and balaclavas. I say “had” as I’ve been working with a counsellor for a while now to find out the root of the problem and to try and help me overcome my fear. I’m pretty bloody anxious about going but I’ve missed out on so many things over the years when it comes to celebrating Halloween so I’m determined to get there. It’s only a small party with a few of my friends who have also gone through the same thing, it won’t be anything too adventurous but even so, for me it’s a huge deal. I’ll keep you all updated!

autumn bucket list

Anyway onto my Autumn bucket list and all the things I want to get done before the season has been and gone and I’m sat here writing out Christmas cards instead of a blog post.

  1. Sort out my Halloween costume
  2. Go on a long woodland walk, collect leaves and conkers
  3. Be brave and purchase a very bold lip colour
  4. Make pumpkin or cinnamon muffins
  5. Buy a pumpkin to make a lantern
  6. make an Autumn soup
  7. Decorate the house for Autumn/Halloween
  8. Visit an Autumn festival
  9. Have a mini picnic in the park
  10. Finish sorting out my Autumn/Winter clothes that are in the loft, what’s to keep and what’s to give away
  11. Celebrate Adrian’s birthday (it’s 24th November in case I forget)
  12. Watch a sunset and take photos
  13. Watch Autumn/Halloween movies
  14. Do a DIY Autumn craft
  15. Dedicate two pages to Autumn in my scrapbook

I don’t actually have very long to get some of these done so I’d better stop talking and get my backside in gear. It’s also coming up to my two year blog anniversary, I can’t believe where the time has gone, thank you to everyone who has supported me along the way. For now I’ll leave you in peace.

Let me know if you have things you want to get done before the Christmas festivities begin.
