I can’t believe this is my first post of 2017, where does time go these days? Firstly, even though I’m a few days late, I’d like to take this opportunity to wish everyone a very Happy New Year! I’ve had the most amazing few weeks, spending time with my family and eating far too much, so it’s back to healthy eating now (well until Easter!)

It’s also my first beauty favourites post of this year, so I’ll get straight on with it and give you the run down of the products I’ve loved using the most over the last month.

Collection Lasting Perfection Foundation

I’ll be honest with you, I have absolutely no idea why I chose to try out this foundation as I’m not usually a lover of matte foundations, but having not been well I’d noticed this had really started to affect the appearance of my complexion, so I was after something with slightly more coverage.

Like me, you may have seen this foundation mentioned a thousand times before in other blogs but Collection is not a brand I would normally be drawn to, somehow though the Lasting Perfection Foundation made it’s way home with me a few months ago and, after using it an awful lot this month, I think it’s absolutely amazing! It’s one of the best foundations I’ve ever used! It’s a medium coverage foundation and blends in so easily with either my sponge or brush for a nice flawless finish, it has amazing staying power and it doesn’t look cakey or feel heavy on my skin. There isn’t a huge selection of shades in this foundation, I chose Cool Beige (no 3) which was just perfect, I only needed to apply one layer to give me a nice even skin tone. Plus it has SPF 20  which is great for when I’m outdoors, even in the winter!

Collection Lasting Perfection Concealer

I picked this up at the same time as the foundation and this has to be my new favourite concealer for covering up any dark circles and blemishes. It has the most amazing coverage with a matte finish but without being too dry and I found it so easy to blend out with my foundation sponge. It’ll definitely be a repurchase and if you’ve not already tried this then I highly recommend it!

Essence Light Up Your Face Luminizer Palette

I have read somewhere that this palette is quite a good dupe for the Ambient Lighting Powder by Hourglass Cosmetics, sadly I’ve never tried the high end palette so I can’t compare, however I absolutely love this luminizing powder from Essence. The pigmentation is wonderful and the powders have a lovely soft feel to them, I think it is such good quality for a budget brand. All three shades can be used together or separately, I’ve been using the darker shade on the left to contour and mixing the two lighter shades together and applying them on my cheek bones for a nice everyday glow.  This palette is now a firm favourite in my makeup bag!

Zoella Hungry Hands Hand Cream

Oh my word, before I even get to how good the product is, let me just say this gingerbread and warm vanilla hand cream smells divine! It’s a thick constancy  but melts so easily into my skin, I like to look after my hands as much as I do my face and this hand cream contains Shea Butter and Vitamin E so it’s super nourishing and leaves my hands feeling really soft. I’ve been using this everyday both first thing in the morning and last thing at night, I’ve even chucked it in my handbag so I can apply it while I’m out, it almost fells like a mini pamper session on the go!

Superdrug B Refreshed Essence Lotion

I am seriously obsessed with the Superdrug B range at the moment and this Essence Lotion is a wonderful addition to my evening skincare routine. After cleansing I apply a few drops to my hands and gently pat it onto my skin, a bit like a serum, then apply my moisturiser. It’s lightweight, non greasy. and very cooling on my skin. The lotion gently nourishes and adds extra moisture, which is perfect for the colder months or if you suffer from dry skin. My complexion is looking really healthy and brighter now, this lotion has really helped to soften any dry patches on my skin and I love that my makeup applies nicely as well, so that’s always a bonus!

What products have you been loving this month? Have you tried any of these, how did you get on using them?

Christmas 2016

It’s really starting to feel like Christmas now, with just over a week to go until the fun really begins and our families get together for the holidays and drive each other mad after only a few hours, but honestly I wouldn’t have it any other way!

As soon as December 1st arrived I dug out last years Christmas jumper and my decorations went up, I’ve even put a small tree in my office to make it look a bit more festive in there as this is where I spend a lot of my time.

Christmas 2016

Christmas 2016

I’ve finished wrapping up all of my Christmas presents, written out all the cards and queued up in the Post Office to send gifts for family and friends who live far way. This year, for close family members I decided to have some photos printed into Christmas cards. I chose four of my favourite pictures that Adrian has taken while out with his camera. The berries and robin photos were taken in our back garden, the one of the shop is a local one in town all lit up for Christmas and the deer photo was taken in the woods near to where we live. I was then able to write my own special message inside to make it a bit more personal.

At the end of November Adrian and I went into town to watch the Christmas lights switch on. It was freezing cold so I wrapped up in my thick Parka jacket, my faux fur lined boots and popped on my new woolly bobble hat, I wanted to have fun, not stand there shivering all night! It was already packed with people by the time we got there and there were plenty of stalls and entertainers to keep us all amused while we waited. The first thing I did was head to Costa and treat myself to a festive hot chocolate, like I said, I wanted to be warm. Then at 6.15pm the count down began, and on the count of one…….nothing! There was a technical glitch, whoops, luckily everyone was in good spirits so we counted down again and this time it worked. There was a local band playing all the old Christmas songs we know and love, so everyone was having a good old dance and sing along (slightly merrily and out of tune, haha!)

Dennis came along for the evening to entertain all the children and he even put his fairy lights on to get in the festive spirit!

Christmas 2016

My cousin has been staying with me for the last few weeks and we’ve generally been having a wonderful time doing loads of fun things together. We went along to a Christmas market, which really put us both in a festive mood, obviously we had to sample a few of the mince pies and a glass of mulled wine. We also paid a visit to Home Bargains so that I could pick up a few things for a Christmas get together at my house next week.  This time I bought the Wickfords Apple and Spice candle, which smells gorgeous and 100 fairy lights to hang round my living room. So that evening I sat with my feet up, eating a mince pie and watching Miracle On 34th Street while Adrian hung them up! It was the first time I’d watched this feel good Christmas film, if you’ve not seen it then I highly recommend you give it a go, you’ll love it! My cousin and I both had our eyebrows threaded ready for any photos over Christmas, plus I finally got round to having my hair trimmed and roots redone, which was long over due, luckily I’ve been able to wear a hat to hide any dark patches, hurray for hats! It’s been lovely having my cousin stay and enjoying some female company, although I’d forgotten how long she takes to get ready in the bathroom in the mornings!

I had planned on doing Blogmas, but then I got poorly with this dreaded flu like bug that’s been going around and I’d had a few personal issues to deal with so I really wasn’t able to focus on much at all. When I did start to feel better I was so far behind and couldn’t think of anything new that wasn’t being done already. I am really cross with myself as I wanted my blog to be so much better than last year as I’d only done a few posts by this point in 2015.

As well as having loads of fun over the Christmas period I will also so be taking some time to remember close members of my family who are no longer with us and after dinner on Christmas Day I’ll be raising a drink to them all.

november-favourites-1

I know I’m a few days late with this post but it’s round to Monthly Beauty Favourites time again! November really did seem to fly past so quickly and here we are, only a few weeks away from Christmas! I’ve been playing Christmas music for a few weeks now and singing along to all my favourite songs, it doesn’t matter that I can’t sing a note in tune because I’m having fun and that’s all that matters!

I’ve had a great time discovering some new brands this month and I thought I’d share five products I’ve loved using and have been reaching for the most during November.

Rituals of Sakura Body Cream

This is such a gorgeous thick body cream that makes my skin feel as soft as silk, which is absolutely wonderful during the winter months when my skin can feel a bit drier than normal. I’ve been applying this after my bath in the evenings and it just smells divine. This is the first time I’ve tried a product from Rituals and I think I’ll definitely be testing out a few more in their range!

B Nourished Night Cream

I know, before anyone says it, this cream is aimed at a much maturer lady than I am, but I have been using this every night for a month and my skin is so soft! I’ve been using a few other items from the B range and absolutely love them, the only reason I picked this one up was because 1. I had run out of night cream and 2. Superdrug had a 3 for 2 offer on and this was the only night cream in store. My skin is going through a few changes at the moment, mainly down to some medication I’m on and I’d noticed how dull it was looking. This night cream is a wonderful thick consistency that just melts nicely into my skin leaving it feeling so soft. My complexion looked so much brighter the following morning and my skin felt super hydrated. I shall be returning to trying out some more products as I’m seriously loving Superdrug’s B range at the moment.

Hurraw Almond Lip Balm

No one wants dry lips, especially when you’re wearing a dark lip colour. My lips seem to get really dry and sore during the colder months so I never go anywhere without a good lip balm. I’ve recently discovered this gorgeous one by Hurrah which has made my lips super soft and has completely gotten rid of any dry, flaky areas. I’ve been wearing it alone on a “no makeup day” and, because it’s not too greasy, it’s also perfect for applying underneath a matte lip colour.

ELF Studio Blush in shade Berry Merry

I had been looking for a berry toned blusher for Autumn to replace the pastels of summer. Then I saw this Elf Blusher in Honestly Aine’s YouTube video and it seemed the perfect one. I’ve used Elf eyeshadows before and absolutely loved them, so I was really pleased to get hold of this blusher. It’s the most gorgeous berry blusher for this time of year, you don’t need a lot of it but it just gives you a really nice healthy glow and perfect for my hair and skin tones. It’s also such a great bargain at only £4.50!

Elf Lipstick in shade Red Carpet

I actually bought this to wear in the lead up to Christmas but when it arrived I loved it so much that I’ve worn it a lot through November already! It is a beautiful shade of red, but not so bold that it’s in your face. It inspired me to dig out my Urban Decay Naked palette and have worn this lipstick with gold and neutral toned eyeshadows. I bought the Moisturising Lipstick which is a velvety, soft texture and glides on really lovely without dragging the skin. It also contains Shea Butter and Vitamins to help hydrate the lips and it’s just so comfortable to wear. The colour stays on really well throughout the day, with only one touch up after lunch, but if you’re after something that’s going to last a lot longer then maybe the Matte version would have more staying power.

Thanks for taking the time to read my post. What products have you been loving this month? Let me know in the comments below.

Jewellerybox is an online retailer based in London and they have the most adorable festive items for you to choose from, all at affordable prices. They have wonderful bracelets, earrings, necklaces and so much more, there is literally something that will suit everyone’s style. There’s even the option of having an item personalised if you’re buying a gift for someone else.

I love adding a sparkly piece of jewellery to complete my outfit whatever the occasion but I also enjoy adding an element of fun with my accessories around Christmas time. You can imagine my excitement when I received this beautiful necklace  and cute pair of earrings from Jewellerybox. Honestly, you really will fall in love with everything on their website because I certainly did!

earings and necklace from jewellerybox.com

The first item of jewellery in my package is this sweet pair of Sterling Silver Snowflake Stud Earrings. They are so simple and delicate and I have already worn them loads this week. The earrings can be worn on their own or with the matching necklace and still look stunning. They really will add a festive touch to any outfit but I think they will still look gorgeous worn during other times of the year too.

The next item in my package is this adorable 18 inch Sterling Silver Snowflake necklace. I think it’s such a beautiful piece of jewellery. The length of the chain is just perfect and the pendant measures about 0.8 cm in height, it’s such a simple and delicate necklace, but perfect for Christmas time. Again, it can be worn on it’s own or paired with the matching earrings and still look gorgeous. I’ve worn it a few times this week and have had people comment on how pretty it is! I’m absolutely in love with this necklace, I think it’s too cute just be be worn at Christmas, don’t you?

Each piece of jewellery comes in a shabby chic style box and then each box is wrapped in brown paper and tied up with string with a little tag. I absolutely love it!

Overall, I’m really pleased with the quality of the necklace and earrings, I’ll definitely be wearing them a lot more over the coming months!

So if you’re looking for some fun, festive jewellery then I really recommend checking out jewellerybox.co.uk as they have some absolutely gorgeous pieces in stock. They would also make the perfect smaller gift for someone or a Secret Santa present, whoever receives them I’m sure will just love them as much as I do.

winter-haul

With Winter (and Christmas!) just around the corner I recently picked up a few little treats to make me feel a little bit more warm and cosy during the cold weather.

I’ve been super organised this year and have already bought my Christmas presents but I agreed to go shopping with my friend to help her choose gifts for people, also to stop her over spending which is not always a good idea. Instead I came home with a few replacement items and some new additions! Isn’t that just typical, never mind, we both had a fantastic day out with lots of laughs and a few cups of coffee to keep us both going!

winter-haul-2

I don’t know about you, but socks are the one thing that seem to go walk abouts in my house, never to seen again! I think the sock devil comes in during the night and steals them so I’m left with a drawer full of odd socks.

As soon as I come home I like to snuggle up in my pyjamas and a pair of fluffy socks, especially around this time of year, so while we were in New Look I picked up 3 pairs of fun, festive socks to keep my feet warm. New Look have so many adorable socks in at the moment. I think the fluffy Father Christmas ones have to be my favourite pair.

My friend disappeared off to the changing room to try something on, I know just what you’re thinking, I was supposed to stop her over spending but what could I do, she just vanished! Anyway, I was distracted by this gorgeous pair of tartan pyjama bottoms, they feel extremely soft and have a drawstring waist which is great when you just want to be comfortable at home. I bought the pink and grey checked pair from New Look last year and  was so pleased with them, I thought I’d go for something a little different to my usual pastels and choose a more colourful option for this winter. I can tell I’m going to love wearing these.

winter-haul-2

Staying with the warm feet theme, I’ve wanted a pair of  fun slippers for ages and used a own a pair of monster feet ones years ago, but they got worn so much they eventually fell apart and ever since then I’ve had “grown up” slippers. This pair of cute fluffy cat slippers was hanging up next to the pyjamas and I fell in love with them as soon as I saw them. I just can’t get over how soft they are and they’ll be just the perfect thing to keep my feet nice and toasty in the evenings. My cat’s not very impressed with them though!

Next we went into Home Bargains, now I love shopping in this store and have been known to spend hours in there eyeing up all their cute homeware and stationery items. I usually come out with far too much stuff but for once I only bought two things, yay well done to me!

I have a large collection of hats but I picked up this neutral coloured, thick woolly bobble hat to keep my head warm when I’m out for a weekend stroll, it almost matches a woolly scarf that I already own so they’ll both look perfect with my thick parka jacket and boots, and keep me nice and snug.

Of course I couldn’t come home without picking up this large Mulled Wine candle in a glass jar, it smells absolutely divine. I already have a couple of these in different fragrances and for the price I think they are pretty amazing. The mulled wine candle will make my room smell so wonderful throughout December.

winter-haul-1

During my shopping trip I also picked up a couple more candles to add to my collection as I love burning them in the evening, it creates a certain ambiance in the room and really does make me feel warm and cosy. The mini Cinnamon Spice candle smells amazing and reminds me of my kitchen after I’ve been baking cakes, so you can imagine how much I love the smell of this candle. The Christmas Spice candle not only smells gorgeous, with more of a warm spicy smell rather than a sweet fragrance, but comes  in a deep red class jar and when the candle is lit it creates beautiful patterns around the room. I think this one will be seeing a lot of use when I’m enjoying a nice relaxing bath on a Winter pamper night!

I hope you enjoyed seeing everything that I picked up during my recent Mini Autumn/Winter Haul. Let me know what items you’ve bought lately.
