Glossybox February 2017

Who needs a special occasion to treat yourself, or someone else, to a beauty subscription box? Luckily for me a friend of mine bought this one for me as a gift.

How gorgeous is the packaging on the February 2017 Glossybox? I usually keep any pretty boxes like this as storage boxes for beauty or stationery items, so it’ll definitely be used for that!

As I’m sure you’ve seen by now the February 2017 Glossybox is Valentine’s themed, but honestly you don’t need February 14th to tell someone you love them.

So let’s see what came inside this months box.

I can’t resist a good face mask, so imagine my delight when I found La Theorie Des Volcans Noir Eternae Purifying Youth Potion inside the box, which is a mineral rich mask with anti ageing ingredients. When the mask is first applied to your skin it goes on a thick pink paste, then turns grey as it sets to work on any impurities, sounds interesting and I can’t wait to give it a go! It’s paraben and silicone free and 90% natural.

Oh wow, a full size Ciate Paint Pot in Iced Frappe! You can’t beat a good nude nail colour for everyday use, this one is a warm nude with coffee undertones, and will suit almost anyone. I’ve had Paint Pot nail colours before and they are fantastic, they are super easy to apply and last for ages.

I think the MeMeMe Beat The Blues in Oyster Gold is absolutely gorgeous. It’s a warm gold shade of highlighter designed to boost the radiance of a winter complexion. It’s quiet a thick consistency, I think I was a bit heavy handed when I first tried it, so you do only need to dot it across your cheek bones, or mix a small amount in with your foundation for a beautiful all over illuminator.

It was so lovely to find a fragrance in this months box. A 30ml bottle of Jeanne Arthes is a generous size compared to some samples in some subscription boxes. The fragrance smells so pretty, I adore the scent of roses and this is one will be perfect for every day use as it’s quite subtle. They describe it as a classic scent combined with dreamy, elegant and crisp notes.

Last of all there is a sample sachet of Garnier Ultimate Blends Honey Treasures Strength Restore Balm, aimed to hydrate and nourish dry hair. I won’t be using this, so I am giving this one away.

We’re also given a sneaky peek into next month’s box where Glossybox are including a Sleek palete with each box where you can choose which of the four options you’d like to recieve. How fab is that?

Overall, not bad at all this month considering the Paint Pot polish is worth £9 on it’s own and I’ll definitely be using 4 out of the 5 products from the February’s box.

I am on the hunt for a new one to try so let me know if you have any suggestions.

Home and Stationery Haul

I’ve recently picked up a few new bits for my home and office in Home Bargains, B & M and a few other places. I’d been pretty good with my money for the last few months, and I’ve got enough beauty products to last me a while yet. I do go through phases of what I buy, beauty, fashion or stuff for the home, but this month I did want to buy a travel coffee mug to take my homemade coffee out with me, my other one was really not fit for purpose anymore. So with some  left over birthday money just burning a hole in my pocket, I popped into  few of my favourite stores and ended up coming out with some other goodies too, I also thought they’d look great as props in my blog or Instagram photos.

I’d been looking in quite a few shops for the perfect travel mug, one that wasn’t too plain or a ridiculous price, and finally found this cute  white, pink and black one with Hello Gorgeous printed on the front for £1.99 from B & M. Isn’t it just adorable, and such a bargain.

It was also my first time shopping in B & M and oh my word, they had some really great stuff in there, things that had been on my wishlist from other stores but were way out of my budget.

While on the subject of travel mugs, I found this gorgeous gold striped flask with a straw for £2.99 from Home Bargains. It not only looks cute but will be perfect for taking juice or smoothies out with me when the weather gets warmer, I’ll also use it at home when I’m in the office to encourage me to drink more water during the day.

Wandering up and down the aisles in B & M, as you do, I came across this mini white wooden tray for £3.99. It’s a perfect size for my morning tea and breakfast in bed, and it’s also going to be fantastic for using in photos on my blog or Instagram.

I hadn’t taken much notice of what fragrance this candle was at first, it was the pretty rose gold patterned pot that caught my eye, and it’s a decent size. Then I smelt the Vanilla scent, it’s soooo lovely! It reminds me of warm, summer days, ice creams on the beach and holidays.  Another fantastic purchase for £2.99 from Home Bargains.

The little copper pot is just one of those basic things that will always come in useful somewhere in the house and is actually for storing tea or sugar, but I bought it to keep my cotton wool pads in on my bathroom shelf. It cost me a grand total of £1 from Poundland!

The little heart plate was also from Home bargains and was only £1.29, it’s going to be perfect for using on my bedside cabinet to keep all the little essentials I may need and my most worn jewellery. I think it looks absolutely adorable!

I absolutely love the smell of this Winter Berries room spray, I don’t think it’s one that’s necessarily for the winter, it’s more of a sweet floral fragrance that’s not too over powering. Again it come from Home Bargains and cost £2.99.

With so many candle holders in my house, I had to stock up on some more tea lights, this time I thought I’d pick up some cute pink ones with a light lavender fragrance. They come in a pack of 30 from Wilkos and only cost £1.50.

I seem to get through so many note books, it’s unbelievable. I use them for all sorts, planning my blog posts, writing down my thoughts and feelings, to do lists and wishlists. Let’s face it, there’s nothing like starting a shiny new notebook especially when they look as gorgeous as these. All three came from home bargains, both the black polka dot one and the cream and rose gold one were 99p, and the pink one cost £1.29.

I love having cute things in my office, such as these pastel binder clips, not only are they going to be useful for hanging things off my notice board but don’t they look adorable with things like “OMG”, “Urgent” and “Get It Done” printed on each one. Another bargain from B & M for only £1.99!

I do love to give my hand written letters that personal touch and make them look all pretty with washi tape, I also use it in scrap books and journals. I picked up this pack of 13 cute assorted designs from B & M for just £1.99.

Sticky notes always come in handy for urgent reminders. I was in Sainsburys doing my food shop when I came across this little tin of assorted patterns on 2 different sizes. It costs me slightly more at £6.00, but I’ve found some of the cheaper ones don’t stick quite as well. Anyway, it looks so pretty sitting on my desk!

And last but by no means least, the cosy stuff! No matter what time of year it is, there are some days I just cannot get warm, even with the heating on. Then there are the days I may not be feeling well and just want to snuggle up and watch something on Netflix. So yes, I have bought two faux fur cushions and two huge faux fur pillows for my bed. They are all super soft and fluffy it makes me want to dive right on them and feel like I’m floating on the clouds!

  • Cream Throw £10.00 from Home Bargains
  • Brown Fluffy Cushion £3,99 from Home Bargains
  • Cream Cushion £5.00 from Poundland (they are now doing some things in their stores for more than a pound)
  • Brown Throw £7.00 from Wilkos ( sale item, originally cost £15.00)

Hope you enjoyed this haul and seeing all the gorgeous new additions for my home.

Have you purchased any little treasures recently?

My Perfect Pamper Night Routine

Pamper Night

Everyone needs a good old pampering session once in a while, even just 15 minutes here and there can do you the world of good. Actually taking time to relax and completely switch off from the outside world does wonders for me and makes me feel a whole lot better and ready to take on what ever the next few days have in store.

Every so often I like to make sure I have at least a couple of hours for a full on pamper night, usually at the weekends and especially if I’ve had a really rubbish week. Not only does it do my body good by using all my favourite beauty treats but it helps clear my mind, making me see things a lot clearer and feeling better about myself.

Whatever you choose to do, whenever you choose to have a pamper session, believe me, you’ll feel absolutely wonderful afterwards. You can always invite a few friends round for a pyjama sleep over, that’s usually great fun. Personally, I enjoy my own company so tend to indulge in a pampering session by myself.

Here’s how I spend my perfect pamper night.

Pamper Night Routine

I light some gorgeous smelling candles to help me to relax, some of my favourite ones have come from Home Bargains.

I’ll pop on some relaxing music, usually whatever my favourite playlist on Spotify happens to be at the time.

Beauty products for a pamper evening

I then like to make a huge mug of tea as I find this instantly makes me feel chilled out.

I’ll take my mug of tea into the bathroom, along with my mobile so I can carry on listening to music, and then I’ll do my skincare routine. At the moment I’m using Liz Earle’s Cleanse and Polish to get rid of any dirt and oils from throughout the day. Sometimes I’ll use a gentle facial exfoliator on areas that may seem extra dry or flaky.

Winter Skincare Essentials

Formula 10.0.6 Mud Mask

Face Mask

I love to use a face mask  and let it get to work on my skin while I’m in the bath, they seem to make my complexion look a lot brighter, and let’s face it, just laying there with a mask on for a while is a wonderful feeling and some of them smell divine!

Lush Spring Treats

A Bath

Next, I run a bath and pop in one of my favourite bath products, which at the moment happens to be the Lush Rose Jam Bubbleroon, it not only smells amazing but turns your bath water into the most gorgeous pink swirls. I also love to use a body scrub to get rid of any dead skin, usually on my elbows, feet and knees. Then I’ll have a good, long soak in the bath.

Once I’ve got out of the bath I’ll apply a facial serum and nourishing night cream on my face, my skin always looks a lot healthier in the mornings. I’ll use my favourite body butter or cream to make my skin feel super soft.

Comfortable Clothing

The last thing I want to do now is get into tight, uncomfortable, clothing, so I’ll pop on a loose top and trousers or a pair of cosy pjs and wrap up in a warm fluffy robe, then head off to the bedroom.

W7 Nail Polish in shade Fluorescent Pink

If I’m feeling really adventurous this is when I like to paint my nails, at the moment I love wearing bolder nail polish, and will always finish with a speed dry top coat, 2 minutes and my nails are dry, which is excellent for impatient people like me!

Comforting Drink

Depending what time of year it is, I like to make a warm relaxing drink, either a herbal tea or a hot chocolate, grab a couple of chocolate biscuits and snuggle up on the bed.

I love watching TV in bed and I’ll scroll through to find a film to watch or catch up with whatever TV series I’m into at the time, whilst enjoying my chocolate treats, ooooh delicious!

What better way to spend the perfect pamper night at home!

5 Lists I Always Like To Make

Making lists always seems to have a calming effect for me, even writing the all important to do list makes me feel organised and a lot less stressed every day. There are other lists I’ve made over the years that have really seemed to help with my wellbeing and how my mood is in general.

I was given the book “The 52 Lists Project” for my birthday and it’s such a wonderful idea, isn’t it strange how just writing a list can have that effect on you? When you think about it, even writing down a list of all the things you need from the supermarket can make you feel less stressed when you actually go in there, mind you I never stick to mine, so that’s probably a bad example!

There are 5 lists that I try to take the time and write down as often as I can.

Want I Want To Achieve

This can be as simple as what I want to do that day, but also my goals and hopes for the month and year, it gives me something to aim for and keeps me motivated. It helps me to prioritise areas of my life so I’m not left stressing over the important things at the last minute and reminds me to add in some fun things too.

What Makes Me Happy

This list is a great for de-stressing, It reminds me that whatever other rubbish is going on in my life or around the world there are still quite a lot of things that make me happy. I often write 3 things in my diary that have made me happy that day, no matter how small it may seem, it’s something personal to me and has put a smile on my face.

What I’m Grateful For

I can very often over look some of the good things I have in my life, I can easily sit there and list off things I wish I had or was doing, so by writing a list of things that are already in my life that I’m so grateful for can help me refocus my mind and not think about all the negative things that may be happening to me at the time.

What I like About Myself

I find this list the hardest one to write, it’s easy to list all the things I don’t like about myself, so why do I find it difficult the other way round? But when I think of at least 3 things I like about myself it gives my self esteem a real boost!

Things That Motivate Me

I’m sure the list of things that motivate me will be very similar to yours, so when I’m feeling really lazy and need a kick up the backside I’ll go straight to my list to get me going again. I also have a list of people who motivate me, the ones that believe in me and that I can achieve everything I would like to achieve in life, so I’ll turn to those people for help and advice. A certain goal I’m aiming for can also help motivate me and help me refocus with what I’m meant to be doing.

Do you like to write lists? What ones really help you to refocus in your life?

Paul Mitchell Ultimate Colour Shampoo and Conditiner

I’ve been having my hair coloured for many years now, naturally I am a dark strawberry blonde shade, I decided to change it to the brighter blonde I am now. However, all the colouring and use of heated appliances has really taken it’s toll on the condition of my hair and it can become very dry, especially on the ends. I’ve also noticed that some shampoos and conditioners can leave my hair looking a bit brassy just before the colour needs re-doing.

I’ve been using Paul Mitchell Ultimate Colour Shampoo and Conditioner for a while now, and they must be the best hair care duo I’ve come across so far. They are a bit on the pricier side but I’ve found you only need a small amount of each, so they are going to last me for quite some time yet.

Since using this shampoo and conditioner I’ve found that my colour still looks fresh and isn’t fading as fast, which has made me one very happy lady! They are absolutely perfect for anyone who has coloured hair.

The shampoo leaves my hair feeling really soft and clean, it’s really gentle and not harsh on my hair. It contains extracts of lemon peel and sugar cane which adds shine and leaves my hair looking glossy and more manageable.

I run a small amount of conditioner through the lengths of my hair and leave it for a few minutes before rinsing out, and it leaves my hair feeling super soft and tangle free. It contains Shea Butter and jojoba oil, both of which help to nourish and protect my hair, it also helps to prevent any further damage, without weighing my hair down.

Since using both the shampoo and conditioner my hair is looking a lot healthier and smoother, the ends are definitely not as dry and frizzy. The shampoo and conditioner are both made with quinoa (yes that’s right, the stuff you can eat!) and due to that having a high protein content it helps repair any damage that’s been done and lock in the hair colour!

I really have noticed a huge difference in the condition of my hair and how long my colour is lasting, no more brassy blonde for me. Did I mention they also smell absolutely divine!
