Like everyone , I have my absolute favourite makeup products that I seem to reach for everyday. This year I have made a concious effort to play around with colour a bit more and there are some beautiful pastel nail polishes and lipsticks in the shops at the moment. There are some days when I just want to wear a light, natural look or maybe brighten it up with a lovely bold pink lipstick. If I’m not doing much at the weekend then I tend to wear just a tinted moisturiser, mascara and a lip gloss or if I’m pushed for time then I will keep it to the bare minium. Usually though as the weather warms up I will swap my heavier makeup colours for lighter tones and try out a few new season products. So after having a good sort out of my makeup collection I thought I’d show you a few favourite items in my Spring makeup bag.

BASE

Bobbi BrownTinted Moisturizer SPF-15
This is a perfect light base for those days when I don’t want to wear a heavy foundation but feel I need a little coverage. This is a real favourite of mine because it’s a lovely lightweight moisturiser that gives just enough colour to reduce any redness and conceal any slight imperfections. It gives my skin a lovely dewy effect and I love that it has SPF 15.

No7 Instant Radiance Under Eye Concealer
Another favourite of mine for concealing those dark under eye circles. The creamy consistency gives a lovely coverage that blends easily and lasts all day.

Barry M After Glow Bronzer
This is a new addition to my makeup collection and I must say I absolutely love it. I sweep it across my cheekbones, my forehead and a little on my chin to give my face a hint of colour with a natural looking glow.

EYES

Makeup Revolution Ultra 32 Shade Eyeshadow Palette
Another new product for my makeup kit this spring is this super eyeshadow palette (as if I needed any more!). I saw this whilst actually looking for something else and thought I’d give it a try as I’d seen so many good reviews about their products. It has all of my favourite shades in one palette and the colours have high pigmentation which last all day. It covers just about every neutral toned eyeshadow look I want to do and instead of using an eyeliner I use the darker eyeshadows to line my eyes, which gives a softer look plus it even has a large mirror which is great for travelling. Such a bargain at £8!

Clarins Wonder Volume Mascara
Now I still love my Eyeko mascara but when I want to do a more natural look I use this Clarins mascara. I still like to have full lashes but not as thick and intense. This one gives my lashes enough volume without being clumpy or spidery.

LIPS & NAILS

No7 Moisture Drench Lipstick
I’ve been a bit bold here and gone for a brighter colour than normal as I tend to stick to nudes and pale pinks. I’m currently using the shade Soft Ruby, it’s the most gorgeous colour and I love using it, especially if I’ve done a lighter colour eyeshadow. The lipstick is very hydrating and has a nice creamy texture. I find this ones lasts most of the day before I have to reapply it. Instead of using a lip pencil, I use the lip brush dipped into the lipstick to trace the outline of my lips first as I find this gives it a softer look.

Maybelline Elixir Lipgloss
Ok, there had to be a nude in here somewhere, didn’t there! For those days when I don’t want to wear too much makeup but still want to use something other than lip balm I’ve been using this lovely Maybelline lip gloss in shade 720. It’s not sticky and is very moisterising but still adds a lovely glossy colour to my lips.

L’Oreal Nail Polish
No Spring makeup bag would be complete without a new nail polish and I love wearing bright colours on my nails. I’d seen quite a few blog posts about these new ones from L’Oreal, so when I’d popped into Boots to pick up a few other things and saw these on the shelf I ended up buying shade Nymphea which is a beautiful bright pink colour. There are 22 shades to choose from and so it was really hard to decide which one to get. It has such intense colour pigment and I had lovely glossy nails which lasted for about 5 days.

Thank you for reading and I hope you enjoyed what’s inside my Spring makeup bag. Have you bought any new products this season or do you have favourites that you reach for time and time again?

So far I’ve really been enjoying 2016. At the start of the year I set myself a few personal goals and I’m slowly working through them one by one. Being a bit more experimental with certain things also featured on my list so I thought why not be a bit more adventurous with my makeup as well.  I treated myself to the Elf Eyes 100 Eyeshadow Palette and I’ve been having great fun playing around using the eyeshadow colours to create different looks. With it being a new season I wanted to do something a little bit brighter with my makeup and move away from my favourite smokey eye look so I decided to do a makeup look using blue eyeshadows.
I thought I would share my finished look and show you what products I’ve used.

EYES

Elf Eyes 100 Eyeshadow Palette – After experimenting a bit to find which blues worked best for the effect I wanted I finally used 3 of the blue colours to create this look. First I used my Urban Decay Eyeshadow Primer, then I used a light blue all over the lid (second from the top). On the lower lid up to the crease I used a medium shade blue (second from the bottom) and in the outer corners and under the eye I used a darker blue (bottom). The colours are amazing and highly pigmented, plus I found they all blended in extremely well using my Real Techniques Bold Metal eyeshadow brushes.

Max Factor 2 in 1 Gel Shadow Liner – shade 30, a pearly ivory colour, I used this in the inner corners of my eye to brighten my eyes.

Maybelline Lasting Drama Gel Pencil – shade Lustrous Sapphire, if you’ve seen my previous makeup posts you will know that up until recently I have only ever worn bold black or brown eyeliner. I wanted a softer colour to complement the eyeshadow so I chose a navy blue shade.

Max Factor Xperience Volumising Mascara – shade Black/Brown, again I wanted something soft but that would still give my lashes some volume. I chose a black/brown shade this time instead of my normal intense black. It think it complements the eyeshadow perfectly.

BASE

No7 Airbrush Away Primer – a light non sticky primer which makes my makeup last all day

No7 Instant Radiance Foundation – colour Soft Rose, this is my favourite foundation at the moment which is perfect for a light to medium coverage

Garnier BB Cream  – colour Medium for under my eyes

CHEEKS and LIPS

L’Oreal Le Blush – shade Luminous Rose, this is a lovely soft pink which is just right to add some subtle colour on my cheeks.

Rimmel Moisture Lipstick – shade 210 Fancy. a glossy baby pink colour.

Blue eyeshadow is sometimes seen as a bit of a retro look but I really love it. I recently wore a 1970s inspired outfit and I think that would have worked well with this makeup look. If you’d like to read my outfit post then you can find it HERE

Thank you for reading and I hope you enjoyed this post. Have you used the Elf Eyes 100 Eyeshadow Palette?  What looks have you created? Have you tried any of their other products?

I can’t believe another month has passed and we are in March already. Finally, Spring maybe just around the corner after what seems like a very long Winter!
I’ve been relatively good with my spending this month as I’m saving up for a few bigger purchases, but I couldn’t go the whole month without having a few little treats.
They are mainly beauty purchases as well as a great pair of shoes I bought which I absolutely love!

So this is what I’ve loved using during February.

No7 Metallic Eyes Pencil in Green. This is a bright metallic green and is a colour I would never have looked at before but I was in the mood for experimenting! The pencil glides on smoothly and didn’t drag my skin. I absolutely love this colour.

No7 Stay Perfect Eyeshadow singles in Matte Mocha and Khaki Shine. These lasted for hours and blended smoothly. The colours went perfectly with the eyeliner and are easy to apply.
I bought these to try out a new make up look and I wrote a blog post about it. If you haven’t already read it you can read it Here

Real Techniques Bold Metal brushes
I’ve had to replace a few eyeshadow brushes as my old ones were beyond repair (they were 10 years old!). So I made use of my Boots Advantage Card points and thought I’d try out the Real Techniques 200 Oval Shadow brush and the 201 Pointed Crease brush. These brushes are brilliant, I’ve loved using them. The bristles are so soft but strong, and they make it really easy to apply my eyeshadow just where I wanted it because of their shapes. The oval shadow brush fitted perfectly over the whole of my eyelid and the pointed crease brush was great for applying the eyeshadow in the corners and the crease. They cleaned up lovely too. I think I’ll definitely be investing in some more of these soon.

Barry M Sunset Daylight Curing Nail Polish
Shades (L to R) Do You Pink I’m Sexy, Vengeance Is Wine and Dark Side Of The Shroom
I’ve always been a big fan of Barry M nail polishes and these ones were such gorgeous colours. With the Daylight Curing nail polishes you don’t need a base coat and with the topcoat they are as tough as gel nails without going through all the hassle and expense. They were easy to apply, the nail polish looked really glossy and lasted for ages. I’ve really loved wearing these.

This was given to me by a friend at Christmas but I didn’t start using it until the end of January. The hand lotion smells amazing with rhubarb and juniper and it’s bright snappy smell is perfect for applying in the morning or throughout the day. My hands get very dry, especially during the winter, but this lotion leaves them feeling really soft. I really love it and it has to be one of my favourite hand lotions as well as one of my February favourites!

New Look Black Suedette Cut Out Heels
I was looking for a high heel shoe that was a little bit different to the ones I’d normally wear. I saw these in New Look when I was browsing a few weeks ago and I fell in love with them as soon as I saw them. The lace and cut out detail make them easy to style with an evening outfit but also adds a bit of interest to an otherwise plain day time outfit. I’ve worn them with so many things that they most definitely deserve to be in my February favourites.

I hope you’ve enjoyed seeing what my February Favourites are. What things have you loved using during February? Have you used any of these products? I’d love to know what you think.

From when I started using make up in my teens I’ve always used black or dark brown eye liner. I’ve shied away from using any other colour, I supposed because I knew what I liked or what tended to suit me. A few weeks ago I watched a YouTube video by Jess at Beautiful Breakable (you can see her video HERE) and she really inspired me to try out a different look for myself. So off I went to purchase some green eye liner and a green eyeshadow and I thought I’d share the finished look with you.

This is my first “Favourites” feature and I’m hoping to do more of them in 2016. I thought I’d share with you a few things that I’d picked up during January that I’m really loving.

Love, Style, Life by Garance Dior

I bought this book after seeing a friends copy and I absolutely love it. The author Garance Dore is a style blogger, columnist, illustrator and photographer and this is a great collection of articles written throughout the years on her blog. I love her style of writing which is funny and easy to follow. You can read a bit at a time, making it a perfect coffee table book.

A Few Beauty Buys

 Estee Lauder Advanced Night Repair
I had been trying a sample of this which came free with a magazine and was so pleased with the results that I had to purchase the full size product. I applied it before I went to bed and the following morning my skin felt smoother and more hydrated. I also felt my skin looked more radiant and as though I’d had a full nights sleep. Definitely a winner!

Rimmel Salon Pro Nail Polish in Saturn
I loved the colour of this nail polish which is a lovely rich browny gold and it was perfect to go with my darker winter outfits. It’s a strengthening base coat, top coat and gel shine all in one. My nails looked lovely and glossy after applying it and I was really pleased that it lasted for nearly a week before I had to redo them.

Loreal Super Liner Black n Sculpt
I stumbled across this felt tip liner after my usual one had sold out, so I thought I’d give it a try. I must say, I love it. The liner tip is easy to use and the black line is bold and intense, plus the colour stayed on for ages. I will be using this for my evening smokey eye look.

Sanctuary Ultimate Salt Scrub and Sanctuary Sensuous Body Souffle
After the manic month of December and a stressful build up to Christmas I felt I needed a bit of pampering. I’m a big fan of Sanctuary products and they smell amazing. The salt scrub is an excellent exfoliant and left my skin feeling silky soft straight away. Goodbye rough skin! The soufflé is super moisturising and feels as nourishing as a body butter but with a lighter texture. It smells sensuous but subtle and feminine. Just right for getting my skin ready to be exposed during the summer.

Redken Diamond Oil Deep Facets Mask
I suffer from very dry hair after years of colouring and using heated appliances and a few people recommended this gorgeous hair mask. The first time I used it my hair felt silky smooth and looked so much better. It repairs any damage and smooths away any frizz. I think I will be using this to look after my hair in the future.
