If you’re following me on Twitter already you may have seen that a few weeks ago I mentioned I’d been into town and treated myself to a few things. I usually get really excited when I end up coming home with some pretty new products to play around with. I also picked up a few items to replace ones that were almost finished.
My local Superdrug is one of their smaller stores as I live in a quiet little town in Hertfordshire. I do have the option of going to their Stevenage store which has a much larger range of brands in stock, and of course I can always shop on line.
I’ve not done a Haul post before but I actually love reading them on other blogs or watching haul videos on YouTube so I thought I’d show you what items I picked up.

Makeup Revolution Salvation Palette Hard Day
I am so in love with the Makeup Revolution range at the moment, especially the eyeshadow palettes. I never thought that I would love any other palette other than my beloved Urban Decay Naked ones but oh these are just so gorgeous. This one has 18 colours, 12 shimmer and 6 matte and the colours just looked so pretty that I’m looking forward to trying it out. To be honest, I can’t believe I’ve waited this long!

Makeup Revolution Sculpt & Contour Kit
I’ve mentioned in a previous post that I prefer powders compared to cream products and this little beauty had to come home with me. It was such a bargain at £3.50 and I like the fact that everything you need is in one cute little palette. I’ve gone for the lighter shade in Ultra Fair and it is highly pigmented so, as with the blusher palette that I already own (full review HERE), you only need a tiny amount on your brush when applying it. I have used it a couple of times since buying it and the colours are so pretty and the staying power is amazing. I’m not keen on over contouring but this one was perfect for adding some definition to my face.

Maybelline Baby Skin Pore Eraser
I love Maybelline’s Age Rewind Eye Concealer so much and with the warmer weather I was on the hunt for a lightweight primer to go under my foundation. I’d seen this one a few times but I always seem to go past the Maybelline stand without actually having a proper look. My skin is dry and sensitive with areas of redness but I can also suffer with open pores around the sides of my nose, I am a complex case! I am looking forward to giving this one a try to see if it really does do the trick. I’ll let you know how I get on.

Rimmel Match Perfection Loose Powder
I don’t use a lot of powder buy occassional I’ll apply some over the top of areas where I’ve used concealer to set it in place. I’d been using a pressed powder and needed to replace it so while in store I had a browse to see what was available. i’ve heard a lot about how good Rimmel’s powders were from other bloggers so I bought this one to try. I have used it a few times and so far I’ve loved it. It’s not too heavy and doesn’t leave my makeup looking all cakey, which I can’t stand.

I’m not usually one to jump on the band waggon the moment something new comes out but I had seen Zoella’s new Sweet Inspiration range almost everywhere. When I smelt some of the products in store I thought they were just devine and the packaging is just so pretty. Not knowing how I might react to this range on my skin type I thought I’d spray some of the tester first and left it while I went round the rest of the store. I know that’s not really long enough but there wasn’t any immediate reaction. So far so good. I decided to pick up the body mist as I thought on days when I don’t want to wear a heavy purfume this would be ideal. Plus it’s small enough that I can carry in my handbag if I wanted to.
Like I needed another makeup bag! Well, yes, I did as the ones I’ve got are either too big to go in my handbag that I end up taking far too much stuff with me or too small and products end up rolling around in the bottom of my bag where I can’t find them. I just loved the colour of this one and it seems the perfect size to carry round all my everyday essentials. I also think the list of favourite things written on the back (there’s everything from cupcakes to candles) are just me down to a tee!

Rimmel Brow This Way Styling Gel in Clear
I am rubbish at filling in my eyebrows with a pencil so tend to use a powder kit and to keep them in place I use a clear gel. The one I’ve been using for years is coming to an end so I needed to pick up some more. I remembered reading that this was supposed to be similar to the Benefit brow gel and I’ll be interested to see how it compares to my last brand.

Makeup Revolution Iconic Lipstick
I’m really loving bright lipsticks at the moment which is amazing considering I’m such a fan of nudes. I was at the Makeup Revelation stand for ages swatching different shades and the shade We Were Lovers was one of my favourites. it’s a bright pinky red, although the photo on their website makes it look more of a pinky nude. I knew 2016 was going to be a year of moving away from my comfort zone in so many areas and something as simple as a brighter shade of lipstick can make all the difference. I’m hoping to do a makeup post to show you a look using one of my bright lip colours.

Real Techniques Miracle Complexion Sponge
Technically, this is not a treat. It’s a must for my makeup kit, so that when I’ve washed my other one I can leave it to dry properly but still have a makeup sponge to use.

Thank you for reading this post and I hope you enjoyed having a look at what items I’d bought in my haul. Have you bought any new products lately? Have you written a post on a recent haul you’ve done? I’d love to have a read.

Last week I was tagged by Sarah from Writing Rambling to do The Beauty Blogger Tag. I’ve not done a beauty tag before and it’s one I’d love to do, all you have to do is answer the questions. So I won’t waffle on too much and get straight to it.

What’s your favourite perfume and what do you think it says about you?
Miss Dior Cherie is my all time favourite. It was the first perfume I bought myself, it says I can be quite independent but also I’m a hopeless romantic.

Contour or Strobe?
Definitely contour!

What’s your night-time skincare routine?
I cleanse with micellar water, if I’ve worn a lot of makeup that day I’ll give it an extra cleanse with a gel-cleanser. I then apply a serum and night cream followed by an eye serum. I also use a hand cream and lip balm before going to bed.

Favourite lip colour shade?
Nude, which probably comes as no surprise!

Favourite eyeshadow palette?
I’m obssessed with my Makeup Revolution Affirmation palette, all the colours I need for everyday.

What’s your number one makeup tip?
Always take your makeup off before going to bed at night. No matter how tired (or drunk!) I am I still make sure I do this and I never use wipes.

What’s your favourite store for cosmetics?
It’s got to be either Boots or Superdrug, so many makeup brands under one roof and I can collect my loyalty points for extra treats.

What’s a high-end makeup item you’d love to own?
Anything from Hourglass or Illamasque.

Which celeb do you feel nails it, makeup wise?
Adele for her amazing eye makeup

You have an hour to pack for a surprise weekend, which all-rounder palette and lipstick would you choose to take with you?
I don’t actually own an all-rounder palette, so I’d probably be in a real flap about what to take. I suppose I could improvise and take my ELF Eyes 100 Eyeshadow palette, which has every colour for eyeshadows plus I could use the pinks, neutrals and creams for blushers and highlighters (well you did say I only had an hour!). The lipstick I’d take would be whichever my favourite happened to be at the time, so most probably one from NYX or MUA.

Thanks for reading and if you fancy doing this tag be sure to let me know. I’d love to read your answers!

Makeup Revolution Ultra Blush Palette
I thought it was high time I got a new blusher as this is one thing I don’t seem to have enough of, so while I was in town a few weeks ago I popped into Superdrug to check out what they’d got. I’m already a fan of Makeup Revolution as I have a few of their eyeshadow palettes, which I absolutely love, and I’d been wanting to try a few more of their products for a while so of course I was immediately drawn to the Makeup Revelution section first. I’d decided on getting a powder palette and I’m not particularly a fan of cream blushers, or maybe I just need more practice! I was expecting to purchase one or two single blushers but this stunning Sugar and Spice colour palette caught my eye immediately as I think the pretty pink tones seem to suit my skin tone and hair colouring.

First of all I must say about the price, it was only £6 so an absolute bargain considering how many shades you get. I also love the shiny black packaging which I think looks quite chic and a lot more expensive than it actually is. It also has a large mirror which is great for travelling if you can’t be bothered to pack a separate one.
There are 8 gorgeous colours to choose from all in one palette with a mix of powder blushers. highlighters and contour colours. It has 2 neutral shades which are perfect for contouring, a pinky nude and a peachy pink which are both great for an everyday look, 2 brighter pink shades for something a little bolder plus 2 shimmery pink shades which I found were wonderful for highlighting. You also get a decent amount of product for each colour option too. There really is something for every makeup look I’d want to do.
Each colour was incredibly pigmented so I only needed to use a small amount on a brush and for the highlighter shades I found it best to use a fan brush. The colours gave a lovely creamy, satin finish and blended in really nicely. The colour lasted well and still looked good at the end of the day, which I was so happy about especially as we are going into summer and warmer weather.
So far I’ve been using more of the pinky nude colours and lighter one of the highlighters for a natural glowy look for everyday and I can’t wait to use the raspberry pink blusher again for an evening party makeup look or even just for something a bit bolder during the day.
This blusher palette really is adorable, I think it’s the best one I’ve ever owned (is it wrong to get this excited about a product?) and at this price I may well go back and get the cream blusher palette next month!

Have you got a favourite blusher palette?

Well what an exciting month May has been. I’ve been out and about with my husband for those long walks that we both really love and find so relaxing. I’ve been on a few lunch dates with friends who I haven’t seen for ages, plus I went for a coffee date with another friend who I’d not seen in 5 years as she’d moved away but we’ve kept in touch, so while she was down this way visiting her family we thought it would be a great idea to have a catch up. To end the month off I went to a friend’s daughter’s 1st birthday party where I ate far too much food and even attempted to sing Happy Birthday!
So Monthly Favourites time again, yes I know, it does come round so quickly!
I’ve been trying a few new products this month and these are the ones I’ve enjoyed using the most.

Imperial Leather Nourishing Shower Creme
This was the first time I’d tried this brand of shower creme as I wasn’t sure if it would be suitable for my sensitive skin. It was on offer for £1 in Boots so I thought i’d give it a try. I chose the Vanilla and Almond Milk fragrance and it has such a beautiful smell that’s not too over powering. It made my skin feel really soft after my shower and didn’t bring me out in a rash. It also lathers up lovely on my shower scrunchy. I loved it so much that while they were still on offer I went back and bought the Uplifting Sherbet Lemon one!

Revlon Quick Dry Top Coat
As per usual my local store was out of stock of the quick dry top coat I normally have so I picked this one up instead. I am so impatient when it comes to painting my nails that I end up smudging them before they are dry. I wasn’t sure what to expect with this one but it was really lovely to use. I applied it as I would a normal top coat and my nail varnish was dry in about 5 minutes. I even love it more than the one I’ve been using for years, so that says something about how good I found it.

Revlon ColorStay Foundation in shade Sand Beige
I’d seen this being used in a couple of YouTube tutorials and it looked as though it gave really good coverage. As Revlon was on a 3 for 2 offer when I bought the top coat I decided to pick this up as well. Most of my foundations have a light to medium coverage so I was a bit dubious about this at first in case it made me feel as though I was wearing a mask but I love that this one gives a beautiful satin finish without being too heavy. I applied it using my foundation brush and it blended in easily and then I dabbed a damp makeup sponge over the top to make sure there wasn’t any streaky lines left behind. The foundation gave me a lovely even looking complexion which lasted all day and it didn’t dry my skin out either. This has to be my favourite foundation so far.

Maybelline Age Rewind Eye Concealer in shade Nude
Fab, amazing, perfect. What more can I say. I’m sure you’ve seen enough people going on about this product for the past 100 years but I had never tried it. I know, I’m a bit behind! So I thought I’d give this a try to see if it was a good as some people say it is. Well for a budget concealer I was pleasantly surprised. The sponge tip applicator made it easy to apply the concealer just where I needed it and it completely covered up my horrible dark circles. Again it blended in easily and wasn’t too drying. Definitely a winner!

Revlon ColorBurst Matte Balm
I’ve seen this balm recommended by other bloggers so I really wanted to give it a try. I wasn’t too sure how I’d get on with it as it’s called a Matte Balm and I’d normally go for moisturising lipsticks, but it’s amazing. The lip stain pencil is easy to apply and the colour is so pigmented that I was able to apply either a light layer for a softer look or go on heavier for something more intense. It’s a creamy moisturising formula which didn’t dry out my lips as much as I thought, so I was really pleased about that.  I absolutely love this pinky shade. I’d definitely be tempted to buy another shade as they are so easy to use and carry around in my handbag.

Max Factor Colour Elixir Lip Liner in shade Princess Pink
I already own the Max Factor Matte lipstick in shade Rosewood, which I also love despite it being a matte one, but I found I needed to use a lip liner as well. This colour lip pencil matched perfectly with the lipstick and lasted nearly all day. It was so easy to apply and as it’s a lovely soft creamy texture I found it didn’t drag the skin on my lips.

Well that’s everything in my beauty favourites post this month. Thank you for reading and I hoped you enjoyed seeing what I’ve recently loved using.

I was having a huge Spring clean a few weeks back and one of the things I did was sort through all of my nail polishes. I seem to have built up quite a large collection, actually I think it’s probably an addiction alongside nude lipsticks as I can’t seem to go too long without buying one or the other and I really don’t need anymore. Maybe I should write a list of goals for the rest of the year and number one should be “Must not buy anymore nail polishes”! Ha, ha! Now that really would be a challenge.

One of the things I love about Summer is being able to paint my toes nails in a lovely bright colour and have them on show wearing a pair of summer sandles. Let’s hope the weather stays nice enough for me to do this.
I am rubbish at being able to grow my finger nails though. I manage to get them to a certain length and then they either brake or I end up filing them down. I did try having gels for a while last year but I found they completely ruined my nails, maybe I kept having them for too long without a break in-between.

Well, with Summer not that far off now it was time to put away the darker colours for winter and dig out some brighter colours. I thought it would be nice to write a post and show you some of my favourite nail polishes for this time of year.

Seventeen Lasting Fix Nail Polish in shade Fairy Cake is a lovely opaque baby pink colour. It’s actually from last summer but it was one of my most worn nail polishes and I’ve used it so much I need to replace it now.

Rimmel Salon Pro Nail Polish in shade Happy Evie After is a super bright orange colour and this is my favourite colour for wearing on my toe nails. I love the Rimmel nail polishes as they are really long lasting and so easy to apply with a large brush that vertually paints your nail in one sweep.

Rimmel Salon Pro Nail Polish in shade Soul Session is a beige nude rather than a pinky nude and I love wearing this colour as it goes with absolutely everyhing and looks pretty chic too. Perfect for those days when I haven’t got time to sit and attempt to do a full manicure and paint a bright colour on my nails.

No7 Stay Perfect Nail Colour in shade Pink Grapefruit is a gorgeous pinky coral colour. It just shouts out summer to me and reminds me of holidays. I wear a lot of white clothes in the summer and this colour goes perfectly with those outfits. This is another long lasting nail polish which is great if you are going away for a few days.

Rimmel Salon Pro Nail Polish in shade Grape Sorbet is a pretty soft shimmery lilac colour and I love wearing this when I’m having an in-between day, nothing too bright or a nude. In other words, I can’t make my my mind up!

I’ve also recently bought a L’Oreal nail polish in shade Nymphea which you can read all about in my post What’s In My Spring Makeup Bag

Thank you for taking the time to read my post. What’s your favourite nail polish for Spring/Summer?
