SpaRitual: Slow Beauty For Busy Lives

SpaRitual Review

Having some time to myself really does help with my with my general well being, especially my mental health. In a world where everything feels like it’s on full speed and my body has hit an imaginary brick wall. I need to be by myself, sitting calmly and free my mind of any outside stresses. If only I could hot foot it to the nearest Spa Treatment salon every time I felt like this. Luckily I try to recreate the experience and enjoy some simple beauty rituals with a selection of little luxuries in the comfort of my own bedroom.

SpaRitual is a brand that has a collection of high quality beauty products and has been around since 2004. I love that they are made with natural, organic ingredients and don’t have any harsh chemicals. Recently I have become aware that it’s important to know what goes on your body as well as what goes into your body. SpaRitual is really passionate about the products they make, giving you only the best, natural beauty treatments for an at home spa session.

I was extremely excited to try out a selection of their beauty products after being introduced to their brand by Rhian from A Touch Of Pink Beauty. Rhian came to my house a few months back to give me an Indian Head Massage, gentle music was playing, candles were burning and it was such a wonderfully relaxing experience I fell asleep. I felt like I was floating on clouds for the rest of the day.

Let me tell you about some of the amazing SpaRitual products I’ve been using at home during my own beauty routine.

SapRitual Body Oil

Rhian used the SpaRitual Chinese Jasmine Body Oil when she did my massage and I’ve been using the same body oil after I’ve had a relaxing bath in the evening. I use a few pumps in the palm of my hand and massage it all over my body, feet and hands. It doesn’t take very long to absorb so you’re not left feeling too greasy. My skin felt incredibly soft and it smells absolutely divine. Using this just before I get into bed has certainly helped me to feel relaxed for a great night’s sleep. This oil can also be mixed with the body butter for extra hydration. which will be great during the winter months when my skin is a bit drier.

Spa Rituals Nail Polishes

I wasn’t sure what to expect from the SpaRitual Nail Polishes, but they are really lovely to use. The shades I have are (L to R) Calm, Unleash, Wisdom and Liberation, which are all very neutral shades but they also have so many gorgeous colours from corals, bright pinks and electric blues. The brush is a decent size and it only takes a couple of swipes to coat each nail, I always add a second layer for a deeper colour. My nails looked really glossy and the polish lasted for around four days before it began to chip.

SpaRitual Hand Serum

I’ve been aware of using Anti-Aging skincare on my face for years, but never really worried about my hands. SpaRitual Hand Serum concentrates on slowing down time for your hands too. It softens and smooths out the texture and helps to build collagen and promote elasticity. Although this did make my hands feel soft, I prefer using a thicker hand cream and sadly I didn’t love this quite as much as some other products. I suffer from extremely dry hands so maybe this serum would work wonders on someone else.

SpaRitual Sugar Scrub

The first thing I noticed about the SpaRitual Egyptian Geranium Sugar Scrub was the scent, let me tell you, it is gorgeous. I could close my eyes and imagine I was actually laying on the couch in a spa salon. The texture reminds me of the sugar coated jelly sweets you find at the pick and mix counter. I use this luxurious sugar scrub in the shower, feeling well and truly pampered. The sugar crystals exfoliate your body by lifting dead skin cells, leaving your skin feeling wonderfully soft and hydrated. It’s also the perfect scrub to use before applying fake tan, making sure you’re left with streak free colour.

SpaRitual Body Butter

My favourite product out of all the lotions I tried has to be the Chinese Jasmine Body Butter. I literally want to bath in the stuff. Firstly, it smells gorgeous and if SpaRitual did a candle with this fragrance I would also be adding that to my collection. Secondly, it’s not super thick, yet still deliciously creamy. It feels light and fluffy when massaging it into the skin, leaving my body feeling soft and moisturised. I love that it doesn’t take long to soak in and doesn’t leave any greasy residue, so it’s ideal to use after a shower before getting dressed in the mornings.

What’s your favourite beauty treatment to use at home?

Getting Ready For Summer With Norvell Tanning*

Norvell Sunless Tanning

I’m not one for laying around in the sun to get that holiday look so I love a good fake tanning lotion. Summer is just around the corner and my pretty short sleeve dresses will be getting an airing. There are so many tanning lotions on the market now it’s hard to know which one to use, the last thing I want is to have an orange glow or streaks down my limbs.

Too much sun exposure can cause real damage to your skin, UV rays can increase signs of ageing, discoloration and loss of elasticity, which is why I’d rather use a fake tan to achieve a gorgeous summer glow.

Norvell have designed a range of sunless tanning products, which have added skincare benefits and DHA to maximise results for a more natural tan. They are perfect to achieve a bronzed look without any orange tones or streaks, and not a whiff of a nasty smell.

Norvell Sunlees Colour Extender

Venetian Sunless Color Extender* is a rich moisturiser mixed with an effective amount of DHA, it’s buildable formula gradually develops intensity over multiple applications, perfectly prolonging your tan.

I absolutely love this stuff, I began by applying the Colour Extender every night for about two weeks and couldn’t have been happier with the beautiful, natural sunkissed look it gave my skin. It took a few days to build up a colour at first as I’m really pale and I started off using this on it’s own. I’ve tried gradual tanning products before where I’ve ended up with orange patches, my skin tone looks “fake” and the texture feels drier than ever. This one has a  violet and brown tone formula to counteract any orange, and it doesn’t dry my skin out at all .

Then I used my normal self tan and applied the Venetian Sunless Colour Extender every evening. After about 3 hours my colour started to deepen, my skin looked really bronzed, you could almost believe I’d jetted off to the Maldives (I wish!). It made my self tanning product last for about a week longer than normal before I needed to reapply.

This is a beauty must. No orange patches, streaks and no marks left on the bed sheets. It’s so easy to apply using a small amount on a tanning mit and it blends in evenly. It’s not only moisturising but it’s packed with vitamins and anti ageing ingredients such as beetroot, tomato and cranberry. For me, the Sunless Colour Extender is literally an all round winner.

Norvell Sunless Tanning

Throughout the summer I usually apply a tinted moisteriser and loads of bronzer to give my face a sun kissed look. I know some people apply their self tan to their face as well, something I’ve never done.

Norvell Venetian 4 Faces* is the perfect answer for a gorgeous summer glow that will match the rest of my tan. It’s a self tanning spray that made my complextion look as if I’d spent all day on the beach. It couldn’t be easier  Spritz some onto a makeup sponge then gently apply to your face and neck, carefully blending it into hair line. This one also doesn’t leave you with orange patches or streaks, just a gorgeous a deep sun-kissed colour. It’s so gentle and is designed especially for the delicate skin on your face. It’s Non-Comedogenic, so it won’t clog up your pores, and it’s enriched with natural enzymes to help repair weak dehydrated skin.  I’m sure this is the one product that has been missing from my life and will definitely be buying another bottle when this one runs out, just what I need for an all year round glow.

Norvell Sunless tanning products do not contain SPF, so you will have to remember to apply your usual sun cream before going outside. They are Cruelty Free, Paraben Free and 100% Vegan.

6 Tips For Applying Self Tan

  1. Shave your body in the morning (don’t apply tan directly after)
  2. Exfoliate well, using a gentle body scrub and exfoliating mitts
  3. Moisturise well, concentrating on areas like elbows, knees and ankles
  4. Use a well lit area
  5. Apply the tan using a tanning mitt (I apply mine before bed so it develops over night and never directly after moisturising)
  6. Wash your hands thoroughly afterwards

All that’s left to say is Happy tanning!

Do you prefer self tanning or are you one for basking in the sun to get your golden glow?

New In Beauty: Anastasia Beverly Hills

Anastasia Beverly Hills

I know exactly what you’re thinking, did I really need another eyeshadow palette? Could I justify the outlay on one that’s similar to so many I already own? The answer to that is yes, a girl can never have too many eyeshadow palettes and there’s been one in particular I’ve been lusting after for what feels like forever. Being the beauty lover that I am, I got a little over excited when I noticed Feel Unique had started selling Anastasia Beverly Hills! So guess who ended up treating themselves to the Modern Renaissance eyeshadow palette and has been obsessed with it ever since?

Anastasia Beverly Hills

Anastasia Beverly Hills

I mean, just look at this palette, it’s an absolute dream. The velvety packaging is simply divine and that’s before you even get inside. There’s 14 stunning shades ranging from neutral to berry tones, my favourite two are Antique Bronze and Warm Taupe. The powders are soft and creamy, and they blend together beautifully. All the colours seem perfect for anytime of the year and will take you from day to night in a flash. Even the brush that comes with this palette has wonderfully soft bristles so it’s actually pretty good for blending.

Anastasia Beverly Hills

I couldn’t just stop at the eyeshadow palette, could I? Anastasia Beverly Hills have so many gorgeous products and after a good look through I settled on a liquid lipstick. I’m still in love with these even if no one else is. No surprises that I went for the shade Dusty Rose, a pinky nude, as these colours seem to suit my hair and skin tone. I’m literally in love with the ABH liquid lipstick, it’s so long wearing and I hardly ever have to reapply through the day. It’s non drying and feels really comfortable to wear. I’ll definitely have to pick up another one from the beautiful collection of shades they have.

Have you tried anything from Anastasia Beverly Hills?

Current Beauty and Lifestyle Favourites

For the past month I seem to have been busier than normal and time has flown by. There was family time over Easter and then I was unwell for about a week where I really wasn’t up to much at all, apart from lovingly cuddling my duvet. But I’m enjoying the lighter mornings and evenings, they certainly lift my mood. It’s been lovely to see all the Spring flowers out and have the windows open to let in fresh air.

Here’s a run down of everything I’ve loved using over the past month.

Current Beauty and Lifestyle favourites

Now that the sun has finally made an appearance and I brought out all my summer clothes  I’ve been using a fake tan, so I don’t have my lilly white legs on show. I like to use a body scrub before I go anywhere near myself with a tanning product. Boots No7 Gorgeous Glow Body Scrub is incredibly gentle with soft grains in a thick cream, It’s enriched with Almond Oil, Argan Oil and Rosehip seeds, I can’t describe the scent other than it has a fresh, soapy smell. It leaves my skin feeling so smooth and removes any dry patches, ready to apply my fake tan.

Current Beauty and Lifestyle favourites

If ever there was a product that I wasn’t sure whether to eat it or apply it, then it would have to be the Lee Stafford Choco Locks Butter Cream Treatment. Just close your eyes and you can almost imagine having a pot of Cadbury’s chocolate mouse slathered all over your hair. This hair mask not only smells absolutely divine, it leaves my hair feeling incredibly soft.

Current Beauty and Lifestyle Favourites

I absolutely love the new range of One Step Manicures from ImPress Nails*, I think they are simply beautiful for Spring Summer. Whether you’re a bride, bridesmaid, wedding guest or just fancy having pretty nails for a special occasion, then these are the ones to go for. These stick on nails are so easy to apply and you don’t need any glue, simply peel of the tab to reveal an adhesive strip and away you go. They’re really strong and last for ages, I still had mine after about two weeks after I put them on. I’m wearing Next Wave and the ones in the box are Rock II.

Current Beauty and Lifestyle Favourites

I’ve mentioned before how I love multipurpose products and I’ve totally fallen in love with  Boots No7 Skin Illuminator. It instantly enhances your complexion for a natural looking radiance. It can be used in 3 different ways, as a primer before your foundation, mixed in with your base product or used as a highlighter on your cheeks and brow bones. I apply a small amount all over my face, under my foundation, it makes me look so glowy and my skin looks so healthy. I’ll definitely be repurchasing this one.

GOSH Lip Oil shade Flower Essence

I couldn’t write a Favourites post without mentioning this lip oil from GOSH, it’s in the shade Flower Essence (006) which is a beautiful pearly pink colour and is fabulous for a natural radiant look. These lip oils are packed with essential oils and vitamins that help nourish and keep your lips extra soft. They help to repair any damaged skin as well as being incredibly hydrating, it’s basically like having a lip gloss and lip balm all in one. I’ll leave the link to my full review if you fancy finding out more.

Anastasia Beverly Hills

Another makeup favourite for this month has to be the Anastasia Beverly Hills Modern Renaissance eyeshadow palette. I love everything about this palette, the colours, the packaging. Each shade is simply stunning, they blend in beautifully and look great whatever time of day, my favourite two are Antique Bronze and Warm Taupe. I can’t believe it’s taken me so long to invest in this little beauty.

Victoria Secrets Love Eau De Parfum

The fragrance I’ve loved wearing over the past month is Victoria Secret’s Love Eau De Parfum, it has a light, fresh smell with hints of juniper and apricot blush, making it perfect for wearing on a Spring day. After I’ve done my hair and makeup, and put on my chosen outfit, I’ll add a couple of spritz and I feel completely ready for the day. It has a real feminine smell, which suits my style perfectly.

Spring Trends

I love wearing accessories to brighten up an outfit and I adore wearing pretty gold jewellery with any outfits, most of the items I own are dainty, feminine pieces that work for day or night. My most worn item of jewellery over the past month has to be this Ted Baker cuff bracelet from ASOS, it’s so pretty with a pink floral design at each end. and looks beautiful with my Spring Wardrobe.

Current Beauty and Lifestyle favourites

I always like to take a drink out with me when I leave the house, either water or juice, and it can be a real pain finding a drinks bottle that doesn’t leak all over the inside of my bag. This Ion8 Leak Proof Water Bottle* does exactly what it says on the tin, meaning I can keep my fluids topped up throughout the day and not have to worry about spills. It’s comfortable to hold with a slip free grip and easy to flip open using one hand with the touch of a button, then the lid clicks shut and you can just throw it back in your bag. The bottle’s a handy size for going to the gym or travelling, plus it comes in a range of colours, obviously I chose pink. It’s not cheap for a water bottle, costing £14.45, but when you think about how much you’ll actually save on buying drinks it brings the cost per use right down, and the peace of mind that the contents of your bag won’t be soaked before you’ve reached the end of the road.

well that’s it for this month. I hope you enjoyed seeing what my current Beauty and Lifestyle Favourites are? Let me know what things you’ve loved using this month.

A Lightweight Flawless Base Using Boots No7 Cushion Foundation

Boots No7 Cushion Foundation

Boots No7 was one of the very first brands I bought when I first started wearing makeup in my teens, and I’ve been using their products ever since. Over time I must have spent hours asking the assistants questions about new launches and sitting on the stool in the middle of the store having my makeup done, they were always really helpful and you can guarantee I’d come away with at least one new product. I spent most of my Saturday afternoons in my local store I may as well have worked there! While most of my friends were treating themselves to Maybellene or Rimmel, I was in love with Boots No7.

Boots No7 is sometimes seen as a brand for a mature woman, but honestly, you’ll see teenage girls to women in their 80s buying their products. I think it feels like a bit of luxury without having that high end price tag, plus their range is suitable for anyone even those with sensitive skin.

As far as foundations go I must have tried them all and it became even easier to get the right shade when Boots brought out their Colour Match Service, which is an instore consultation for around 20 minutes to find the perfect colour and finish for your base, blusher and lips.

So when I saw Boots No7 had launched a new foundation I knew I had to get my hands on one and give it a try. I’d always loved the other ones I’d used and hoped this would live up to my expectations.

Boots No7 Skin Illuminator

After cleansing and moisturising my skin I applied a small amount of Boots No7 Skin Illuminator all over my face. I’ve literally been obsessed with this product ever since I discovered it last month. It instantly enhances your complexion for a natural looking radiance, it has an iridescent shimmer that reflects the light to give your skin that perfect healthy glow. It can be used in 3 different ways, as a primer before your foundation, mixed in with your base product or used as a highlighter on your cheeks and brow bones. It’s not glittery, so ideal for using during the day, whatever time of year it is.

Boots No7 Cushion Foundation

Boots No7 Aqua Perfect Cushion Foundation has been designed to achieve a fast flawless finish that’s easy to apply when you’re in a hurry or on the go. I’ve used cushion style foundations before which have left my base looking a bit dry and patchy, not one of them compares to how good this one is. Using a sponge applicator makes it easy to apply and it instantly covered any imperfections. The foundation’s lightweight, buildable coverage blends in seamlessly and left me with a beautiful radiant looking complexion that lasted all day. It dries to a soft powder making it easy to blend my bronzer over the top, I didn’t need to use a separate concealer or setting powder and it didn’t accentuate any of my problem areas such as dry patches or fine lines under my eyes. The creamy formula is infused with purified water to give a cooling effect making your skin feel refreshed and moisturised, it’s so comfortable to wear that I’d forgotten I had any foundation on. It also contains SPF 15 which helps protect your skin from the ageing effects of the sun

The cushion foundation comes in 8 different shades, so not a great choice, I’m shade Warm Ivory which is a perfect match for me. It costs £17.50 for 12ml, I very often buy Boots No7 when they have their 3 for 2 offers so it brings the price down a little. The handy size compact makes it easy for travelling, although the mirror’s not that great.

How To Use:

  • Gently press the applicator sponge down onto the mesh to release the foundation
  • Apply the foundation to your skin using the applicator in a patting motion until you have the amount of coverage you want.

I personally preferred to use my own beauty sponge as the one included didn’t have a strap on the back for your fingers and I found it very difficult to hold.

Boots No7 Bronzing Pearls

The look I’m going for is a healthy holiday glow, so I’m skipping contour and blusher, instead I’m using No7 Perfectly Bronzed Bronzing Pearls. The pots contains 3 different shades of pearls which are highly pigmented. I use a small amount by swirling a medium sized makeup brush across the pearls and applying the bronzer where I’d naturally catch the sun. Even if I haven’t been abroad for two whole weeks, this shade certainly helps give the impression that I have!

Boots No7 Cushion Foundation

Overall I really love the Aqua Perfect Cushion Foundation, I love the feel of it on my skin and the radiant look of my complexion. It’s quick and easy to use for a beautiful flawless base, and the super handy compact means it’ll definitely be coming with me in my travel bag.

Boots No7 Cushion Foundation

I wasn’t expecting to take any photos of me wearing  Boots No7 Cushion Foundation but I was so pleased with the result that I was more excited about taking a photo rather than tidying up the mess my room first!
