My 10 Winter Wardrobe Staples

10 Winter Wardrobe Staples

When it comes to Winter fashion I have streamlined my wardrobe around 10 wardrobe staples, these are items that come out year after year and I’ll inject a few key pieces into my wardrobe throughout the season.

This hasn’t always been the case. When I was in my late teens I would go out at the weekend and buy three or four items and not think about how I’d wear them or how I could style them with items I already had in my wardrobe. I’d end up with bags of stuff which I didn’t wear and find I was giving most of it away. As I’ve got older I’m much more methodical about what items of clothing I buy.

I build my outfits around 10 wardrobe staples and I know I’ll always be warm and stay looking chic. They’re such classic pieces which never go out of fashion, I sometimes have a scroll through Pinterest or Instagram for inspiration on new ways to style them and make outfits I’d never thought of trying before.

10 Winter Wardrobe Staples

Classic Camel Coat

A camel coat is one of the best things things I’ve ever bought. It’s the ultimate wardrobe staple that everyone needs during winter. It’s such a classic, classy piece and literally goes with everything while keeping you cosy and warm. You can even style it with a floaty dress with a thermal underneath and still look feminine and super chic.

I bought my camel coat around 5 years ago in the January sales at House of Fraser, it was marked down to £100 from £250, it’s such good quality and the price per wear is probably less that a cup of coffee by now. The faux fur collar is detachable so you’re almost getting two different styles of coats, even better value for money. I really mean it when I say this camel coat looks great worn with anything, I’ve even even styled it with an evening dress to keep me warm on my way to a Christmas party. This one is definitely going to stay in my wardrobe forever.

Another of my favourite coats to wear during the winter is the belted double breasted wool coat, I have a one in cream and one with a check print. Both are extremely versatile, I occasionally wear the cream coat with a faux fur collar that I bought separately and it changes the look of the coat entirely. I’ve added photos of both styles further on in the post so you get an idea of how I wear them.

Faux Fur Jacket

A Faux Fur or Faux Shearling Jacket is the perfect finishing touch to any outfit. and comes back on trend nearly every year. I tend to go for neutral colours that will go with everything in my wardrobe, classic shapes that will never go out of style. These are three of my all time favourite coats, they’re a few years old but I’ll continue wearing them until they need replacing. There are so many good affordable coats and jackets on the high street, ones that look amazing and keep you warm all day. I’ve not tried the full on teddy bear coat yet, it’s only a matter of time.

Chunky Knit Jumper

I’m obsessed with a chunky knit jumper to keep me warm and toasty, especially those with a roll neck, it’s a classic style and looks sophisticated and goes with everything. I love experimenting with different ways to wear a chunky knit, they look great with jeans, skirts and even over a dress so it looks like you’re wearing a skirt, great for getting extra wear out of a floaty dress and keeping super cosy. However you style a chunky knit it’s a perfect winter staple and keeps you snuggly and warm.

I go for neutral shades as I know I’ll get a lot more wear out of them.  Once I find the right style, and colour I have the tendency to wear it all the time and with everything. A chunky knit doesn’t have to be expensive but I’ll try and get a good quality jumper so I know it will last for years. Right now I love wearing this neutral brown roll neck jumper from River Island and this cream cowl neck one from Topshop.

Over The Knee Boots

I couldn’t do a post on wardrobe staples without mentioning Over The Knee Boots, they’re an absolute essential and I practically live in them throughout the colder months. I have a few pairs in different colours, beige, grey, brown and black, they go with everything and it’s an extra layer to keep your legs warm and cosy.

The most recent pair are from River Island, they’re a classic style in the most gorgeous chocolate brown colour which looks classy and chic. They’re extremely comfortable, they’ve got lace up detail at the back so they fit perfectly around my leg and I love that they don’t fall down. They look amazing worn with knitted dresses, skirts, floaty dresses or jeans. I’m literally so in love with them, I’ve not wanted to take them off.

Midi Skirt

A midi skirt goes with endless outfit options during the colder months, even if you’re not sure what to wear, just pop on a chunky knit and pair of boots and you’ve got the day’s outfit sorted. Midi skirts come in various styles from pleats, checks, florals and faux leather, whatever you choose a midi skirt looks great worn smart or casually.

I’d been looking for the perfect pleated skirt for ages and found this olive one from ASOS, I think it’s absolutely gorgeous. It’s the type of skirt that looks chic and stylish, either worn casually with a roll neck, a blouse for work or a sparkly top and heels for the office Christmas party. I think it would also look amazing worn with an outfit if you have any Winter weddings coming up and you’re not sure on dress code.

Another skirt I wear year after year is this check skirt from M and Co. Checks just scream Autumn Winter and look great styled with a chunky knit, camel coat and over the knee boots. The perfect way to keep you super warm yet still looking chic and classy.

Winter Wardrobe Staples

Jumper Dress

I absolutely love wearing jumper dresses throughout the winter, it’s one of those staples you don’t even need to think about, it’s practically a ready made outfit. Just stick on a pair of over the knee boots and a camel coat and you’re done. A jumper dress will keep you super snuggly throughout the day, for an extra layer of warmth you can always add a thermal vest underneath.

I’m so happy I managed to get hold of this ribbed oatmeal jumper dress from ASOS, it’s so cosy and I love that it has flute sleeves. It’s the perfect dress that will go with any of my boots, coats and accessories and still look chic and stylish. It’s comfy, cosy and snuggly, it literally feels like I’m wearing a blanket and it doesn’t get better than that when the temperatures drop.

Hats

One accessory that always has the ability to completely change the look of an Autumn Winter outfit is a hat, especially when the temperatures are freezing cold. I am obsessed with hats and have quite a few different styles, from fedoras and wide brimmed hats, to baker boy caps and faux fur hats. I know what style suits me and again I’ll go for neutral colours so I can mix and match my hat with different outfits and feel extra cosy. To be honest I get excited about wearing a hat with my outfit in the same way people get excited about wearing a different pair of shoes.

Scarves and Gloves

Gloves really need no introduction, they are an absolute must for those colder months, they not only keep your hands super snug but they’re an extra accessory to make your outfit look chic and classy. I have a few in different colours and designs, my all time favourite pair are these pink ones with a bow and faux fur cuff, they also have a faux fur lining to keep my hands extra warm.

There are so many different ways to wear a scarf, as well as simply wrapping it round your neck a scarf can also be worn hanging long down the front of your outfit and tied with a belt around the waist for an extra layer of warmth. My two favourites are this pinky beige wool one from ASOS and the checked scarf from Barbour, I think it’s an instant way of elevating your outfit and look chic and stylish worn with any winter coat.

Winter Wardrobe Staples

Midi Dress

A midi dress is another really versatile outfit and you can carry over your floaty autumn dresses into winter. Whatever your style, checks, polka dots, florals or stripes, a midi dress is an instant outfit. It’s perfect for layering with a thermal top or long sleeve knit underneath, along with a pair of thermal tights and over the knee boots. You’ll be super cosy yet keeping your feminine style through the colder months.

I’m so in love with this polka dot wrap style midi dress from Joanie, it’s such a versatile dress and will take me from day to night. I’ve worn it for a date night, coffee with friends and out to dinner, it looks chic and feminine for any occasion.

Winter Wardrobe Staples

Thin Roll Neck Jumper

A long sleeve, thin roll neck jumper is another ultimate wardrobe staple. It’s extremely versatile, great for layering and looks different with every outfit you wear, from jeans, skirts and dresses. I’d never have thought about popping a thin roll neck under a summer dress to get even more wear out of it through the winter.I wear a roll neck constantly throughout autumn winter, tucked into skirts, trousers or under a chunky knit for an extra layer of warmth. Basic colours, camel, cream and black, go with everything and you have all your outfit options covered.

Winter Wardrobe Staples

I hope I’ve given you some inspiration for your Winter Wardrobe Staples, you may already own these pieces and forgotten about them or you might be looking to invest in a few new items that will see you through year after year. Once you have your winter staples you just need a few new items each year and you’ll still look super chic and stylish.

What’s New In My Wardrobe: Autumn 2018

What's New In My Wardrobe

It’s fair to say I’m a little excited to see this Autumn Trends, I’ve pushed the boundaries this year and tried some styles that I would never normally have worn. As you know I’m a pink, floral girl, through and through, yet somehow when I tried these pieces on I felt confident and chic, they will be worn quite a lot over the coming months. I don’t know about you but I always find it tricky to style at this time of year, too warm for some things and too cold for others. Give it a few months and all I’ll be wearing is knitted dresses and knee high boots, oh and hats, lets not forget the hats. In the last few weeks of checking the on line stores I’ve practically fallen in love with everything I’ve seen. Our styles do evolve over time, but I think I’ve found some gorgeous items that fit with the Trends for Autumn 2018, yet I still feel like me when I wear them. They are the perfect pieces for my Autumn transitional wardrobe and I’ll be able to style them with so many things I already own.

You seemed to like my Spring Fashion Haul so I thought I’d show you all the new pieces I picked up from various High Street stores over the last few weeks.

What's New In My Wardrobe

Ankle boots are perfect for this time of year, this pair from Topshop are such a gorgeous neutral colour and extremely versatile. They’re great worn without tights if you want to pair them with cute skirts or dresses, as this shade is very flattering. And when the temperatures do start to drop they will look amazing with a pair of light coloured jeans or trousers. I absolutely love the block heel and pointed toe, which is very on trend for winter. It’s been ages since I bought a new pair of ankle boots and I can’t wait to start wearing these.

What's New In My Wardrobe

I wasn’t sure about this Snake Print Midi Shirt Dress at first as I honestly didn’t think I could pull it off. It’s so different for me. I had desperately been trying to get hold of the Topshop one that’s all over Instagram, but sold out as soon as it came in stock. I found this great alternative from New Look and I absolutely love it, it’s such a beautiful, versatile dress. When the weather does start to get colder I’ll be wearing this with boots and a faux fur jacket, you could also wear a jumper over the top. The shirt style is different for me too, but I think it looks such a classic design and feels lovely to wear. The quality is pretty good considering it’s from New Look. It looks super chic and will be worn loads over the coming months.

What's New In My Wardrobe, Pink Faux Leather Jacket

I’d been after a pink faux leather biker jacket for ages and as soon as I saw this one from ASOS it had to go straight into my basket. I also had a £10 loyalty voucher to put towards the cost, so that was a bonus. A lightweight jacket is any girls wardrobe staple, this one isn’t super warm but great to add an additional layer to your outfit without getting too hot on milder days. It’s perfect to add a touch of Autumn to your transitional wardrobe. I love everything about it, the colour is gorgeous and the gold hardware make it look super chic. This has to be my favourite piece from the entire haul.

What's New In My Wardrobe, New Look PVC Skirt

I wanted to add a few skirts into my Autumn wardrobe that weren’t floral, yes, I know, don’t worry, I am feeling ok. There’s nothing wrong with trying something different once in a while. The first one I bought was this Tan PVC Midi Skirt from New Look which also it also comes in black and burgundy. The colour is absolutely gorgeous and looks a lot more expensive than it was and doesn’t have that cheap, plastic feel that some PVC skirts have. It’s a real classic item to have. I’ve styled it with a chunky jumper and heels, it would also look amazing worn with my snakeskin blouse, a pretty cream blouse or a thin roll neck top. I’ve also seen people wearing them with a slogan T-shirt and trainers.

I’ve styled mine with this gorgeous slouchy jumper from Warehouse, which I already owned.  I love the trumpet sleeves and the neutral shade goes with everything, it’s an absolute dream to wear. Styling it with the PVC skirt is a great way to dress up a casual jumper.

What's New In My Wardrobe

The second skirt I’ve bought is this pretty Polka Dot Midi Skirt from Nasty Gal, it’s such a gorgeous autumnal colour and the perfect length on me. It’s so easy to throw on with a top and pair of heels, as I’ve done in the photo, it will also look amazing worn with a chunky jumper, ankle boots and a jacket when the weather’s not so warm. It’s one of those skirts that will take you from day to night and I’ll be reaching for it year after year.

What's New In My Wardrobe

What's New In My Wardrobe

I guess you could say I’m an animal print convert, considering it was a print I never thought I could wear. Now I know I feel comfortable and confident these items will be with me for a few years to come, they’re classic styles and not too over the top.

This snake print shirt is from Marks and Spencer, unfortunately I can’t find it on line but it may still be in some of the stores. It fits beautifully and I love the crinkle effect throughout the shirt. Having long sleeves means I can also wear it with my cream faux fur gillet and jeans for a more casual look. I think it goes perfectly with the nude cotton maxi skirt and equally it would look amazing worn with my Tan PVC skirt or white trousers. Snake print is definitely a huge trend this season and it’s all over the high street.

What's New In My Wardrobe

Accessories are a great way to introduce animal print into your wardrobe if you don’t want wear it head to toe. I picked up these gorgeous Snake Print Slingback Heels from Dorothy Perkins while they were on offer and I’m so glad I did. The heels  are not too high, roughly 3 inches, they feel so comfortable and look really chic. They have a real 80s feel about them, I love the pointed toe and sling back strap. Considering they’re snake print I was surprised at how many outfits I could wear them with, my shoes are usually a plain colour. I was so excited to get these that I wore them straight away.

What's New In My Wardrobe

I couldn’t resist this cute Leopard Print Bucket Bag from Topshop and fell in love with it as soon as I first held it. It goes with so many outfits and look adorable. The straps are faux leather, it can be worn cross body or used by the shorter handle, and the animal print panels have a soft, furry feel to them. It doesn’t look that big but inside is actually a decent size, I’m able to fit my mobile, makeup, wallet, hair brush and keys.

Have you jumped on the animal print trend? What kind of style will you be wearing this Autumn?

My Most Worn Summer Accessories

My Most Worn Summer Accessories

If you’re anything like me, I absolutely love switching up my accessories over the summer and chances are you’ve probably already seen most of these all over my blog and Instagram.  Accessories can completely change the look of an outfit and I’ve collected quite a few this summer. I did go a bit spend happy at the beginning of the season, I never was a minimalist but it certainly made putting together an outfit a lot more fun in the mornings. You’ll see from the theme of this post that the colour pink has featured heavily with my accessories, no surprise there then. Pastels were a huge trend during Spring and Summer, this was music to my ears as I wear them most years. These are some of my favourite accessories that I’ve worn a lot and I’ve put them together all in one post for you to see which ones I loved the best.

Basket Bags

I’ve definitely been lusting over basket bags this year, they just scream Summer and look so pretty with flowy dresses or a white broderie anglaise outfit. I almost gave in and bought one in a really bright playful style from Topshop after seeing it all over Instagram. Luckily I found these two light embroidered bags in a charity shop for four quid each, both in perfect condition. I was lucky enough to be sent the dark camel basket bag by fashion brand Tobi and fell in love with it’s cross body style as soon as it came into my possession. The strap sits comfortably on the shoulder without digging in, the clasp pops shut securely and inside is fully lined. Although it’s not a huge bag, it’s still a decent size to put a few bits in. These three bags have all been out exploring with me on more than one occasion this Summer.

Lola Rose Jewellery

Jewellery

I wanted a watch with a blush pink strap for so long, all the ones I’d fallen in love with were out of my price range, Adrian bought me this one from Anne Klein, I love the classic design and rose gold detail and the neutral colour means it will go with most of my day outfits.

I adore wearing pretty gold jewellery with any outfit, most of the items I own are dainty, feminine pieces that work for day or night. I absolutely love wearing this rose gold Ted Baker Cuff Bracelet , no surprise it has a pink floral design at each end.

Another favourite has been this beautiful gold layered necklace* to add a hint of glamour to a simple day dress. The smaller chain is in a choker style and the longer chain includes a disc pendent which sits perfectly just below the collar bone. I think it’s one of the prettiest necklaces I’ve ever seen.

I usually wear quite delicate items of jewellery  but wanted to add a few more statement piece to my collection. I already wear the large gold leaf earrings and pink geometric necklace which you’ll see in the main photo. I went for something completely different with this gorgeous chunky bracelet from Lola Rose. The colour is Moon Quartzite and made up of 9 semi-precious grey toned stones that are held together with dainty, sparkly rose gold beads. The bracelet has an adjustable Chinese knot clasp and allows you to easily alter the size for the perfect fit on your wrist. The colour and style look amazing with a tan, it surprised me how much I have worn it.

Bags

I’d spent most of last year eyeing up lot’s of designer bags with the bracelet style handle and oh my word, how bloomin expensive are they? My bank balance wouldn’t cover it, that’s for sure. Thank the lord for high street versions which are much more affordable.

The Nude one from Amazon is such a versatile colour and practically goes with everything, it’s a dupe for the Chloe Nile Bag and surprisingly really good quality. The Pink Bag from Guess made an appearance quite a lot this summer. I think it looks super cute with my floral dresses and I absolutely love the colour. They’re both the perfect size to fit a few bits in, I’ve worn them cross body using the adjustable strap during the day or by holding the gold circle bracelet handle to add a bit of sophistication to an evening outfit.

This River Island white cross body bag definitely has designer vibes, the boucle and pearl embellishment across the front flap looks absolutely beautiful and certainly adds a touch of class to my summer occasion outfits. Again I love that it has two straps, one that’s long and adjustable or a shorter one which can be worn hung in the crook of your arm. It’s good quality and a decent size with two main compartments to fit all my junk in. And I’m not finished with it yet, this is going on a lot more outings over the next few months, it’ll look fab with some of my neutral toned outfits for Autumn.

My Most Worn Summer Accessories

It wouldn’t be a Rosie Loves Life blog post without pink accessories, now would it? If I honestly had to narrow it down to two bags that I’ve been soooo in love with, then it would be these two. I’d wanted a velvety quilted bag for as long as I can remember. On a rare visit to TK Maxx back in the spring I saw this one from Marc B hanging all alone on the rack and I immediately knew I had to have it. Things got even better when I discovered it was reduced from £45 down to £20, oh yes, I was at the till quicker than you could say gold chain. It may be diddy in size but believe me, it’s like the Tardis inside with so many deep pockets.

The faux seude pink bag from Topshop is just as gorgeous, and as with the Marc B bag, the chain pulls through to make one long strap or two shorter ones. From the moment I got these two bags home it wasn’t long before they went on their first outings. I featured the Topshop one in my How I Style A Pleated Skirt post and love the whole outfit.

As if I don’t own enough pairs of shoes, but I didn’t have that many with block heels. The first pair I bought the moment I saw them on Josie’s Instagram, they are from Topshop and have a ruffle design with a chunky block heel. They’re also a pretty good dupe for a pair of Kate Spade sandals only a lot cheaper. The pinky nude pair are from Kurt Geiger and I bought them in the sale, I’m all for a good bargain. These have a scalloped edge with a lower block heel and look super feminine. I’ve pretty much worn them all summer.

Sunglasses

Ok, I admit that sunglasses are an excellent way of hiding to the rest of the world that you’ve dragged yourself in at 3am after one too many Prosecco’s (or in my case stayed up late watching Netflix, lol!) but they do protect your eyes and help reduce your perfectly serum-ed skin from getting wrinkles. I found my dream pair of sunglasses a few years ago and they’re an absolute classic. The Tortoiseshell pair I picked up in Boots still leave the house with me most days, they probably know their way out the door by themselves. I was trying to be a liiiiittle bit more trendy when I purchased this pair of rose gold mirror sunglasses from Coconut Lane, they’ve since become my second most worn pair of sunglasses. Not sure what possessed me to buy the white sunglasses from River Island because they are unlike anything I’ve ever worn before, but I love them. They’re a bit more fun than my usual styles but hey, there’s nothing wrong with stepping out your comfort zone once in while, right girls?

The Perfect Summer Occasion Outfit

The Perfect Summer Occasion Outfit

I love shopping for summer occasion wear, it’s probably my most favourite time of year to pick up a new outfit for a wedding or garden party. Finding the right pieces can be a bit tricky though, especially if the event is abroad or in the middle of a heatwave if you’re in the UK. I want to be comfortable and don’t want the material to cling too much, I also want to look feminine.

You don’t need to spend a fortune on your occasion wear as there are some little gems on the high street and a floaty dress would be the perfect option for any summer wedding, picnic or BBQ. I tend to go for a pink or pastel printed dresses, white would definitely be out of the question for a wedding as I wouldn’t want to upstage the bride.

The Perfect Summer Occasion Outfit

A floaty dress is an effortless way to look great and this pink, floral and bird printed dress from River Island ticks all the right boxes for me. The woven fabric is lightweight and flowy, which hangs beautifully, I love that it’s a loose floaty fit, you can eat as much as you want it will skim over a bloated tummy and you’ll still feel comfortable. I absolutely adore the print,  the birds just make it slightly different compared to a plain floral dress, this one just screams out summer and would look amazing for any Summer event. It’s the kind of dress you can just throw on with minimal effort, it has a wrap over style at both the back and front, and a tie waist and at the back of the back line, meaning it’s super flattering. The loose cap sleeves and split frill hem line make it ultra feminine and adds a touch of class, and for modesty’s sake there a mini skirt underlay so you’re not showing too much thigh. It does have quiet a deep v neckline at the front, so I’ve chosen to wear a lace camisole underneath, but hey, if you’ve got it, flaunt it.

The Perfect Summer Occasion Outfit

The Perfect Summer Occasion Outfit

It looks and feels very premium, yet it cost less than £60 and considering how much wear I’ll get out of this dress I think that’s an absolute bargain for occasion wear. Sometimes clothes from more affordable brands don’t always fit that well but this one fits beautifully and would make a lovely addition to your occasion wear wardrobe.

The material of the dress doesn’t crease, so you can easily slip it into your suitcase to take away with you. It would also make the perfect summer outfit for a day exploring the city while you’re on holiday and there are so many different ways to wear it. I know I’m going to be wearing this dress time and time again over the coming months, I adore the colour, the print, the design and that it’s easy to wear yet still makes me feel fabulous. I recieved so many complements on the day I wore this dress, which obviously gave my confidence a boost.

Accessories are a great way to completely change the look of an outfit, from shoes to bags, even jewellery can make a difference. This white embellished cross body bag adds a touch of elegance to any summer occasion outfit. The long strap is adjustable and can be taken off so you can carry the bag using the shorter handle or hung in the crook of your arm.

It’s the ideal size for a summer wedding, garden party or a day at the races. Inside there are two larger compartments with enough room to hold your mobile and makeup essentials. There’s also two smaller pockets which are perfect for securely storing your card holder, money and tickets. The magnetic fastening also shuts securely so the bag won’t pop open when you least expect it to.

This bag feels really good quality and definitely has designer vibes, the boucle and pearl embellishment across the front flap look absolutely beautiful and certainly adds a touch of class to any summer occasion outfit. I think it would look stunning with an evening outfit anytime of the year.

The Perfect Summer Occasion Outfit

I wore this outfit for a garden party to celebrate my cousin’s birthday so I chose these white scallop block heeled sandals, I think they work perfectly together with the dress and bag. I opted for this style as they are pretty and feminine, and they’d look amazing with other outfits in my wardrobe. They’d completely change the look of a simple dress for something less formal. These sandals are so comfortable to wear all day and easy to pop on for a day out in town or exploring the city.

Swapping my accessories will give this dress a whole new look. For an evening out I slip on a pair of pointed heels and a grab a clutch bag, or for a more casual feel I’d add a pair of flat mules and put all my daily essentials in a straw tote bag. When the weather starts to cool down I can slip on a denim jacket or faux leather biker jacket.

This type of outfit would look amazing for whatever occasion you had coming up.

Styling A Maxi Dress For Summer

Styling A Maxi Dress For Summer

If there’s one wardrobe staple during the summer months it has to be the simple maxi dress. It’s my go to outfit and so easy to style for day or night, the item I’ll reach for if I have a last minute coffee date or meal out in the evening. The maxi dress can look casual if I’m going out for the day or paired with a pair of heels and a clutch if I’m meeting friends for a few drinks in the evening. The maxi dress can look feminine yet feel really comfortable to wear and so many have found their way into my wardrobe. You can guarantee if I had a last minute invite with only an hour to get ready, I’d be wearing a plain coloured maxi dress, delicate gold jewellery, a clutch and pair of strappy heels and feel like a million dollars. It’s the style of dress that’s been around for years and never goes out of fashion. My very first maxi dress was a short sleeved version in blue with a tiny white floral print and I wore it so much until it literally fell apart.

It was the Bank Holiday Weekend and a few friends had asked me along for a late afternoon picnic at The Swiss Cottage in Bedfordshire. There was no last minute “I have nothing to wear” panic as I had the perfect dress for the occasion.

This navy blue wrap dress is such a simple design, the shape is incredibly flattering and the tie waist accentuates a wonderful feminine silhouette. The material is soft and flowy which hangs beautifully, I love the pretty cap sleeves and the deep neckline even though I did have to wear a modesty vest as I’m not one for showing too much cleavage. I’d been on the hunt for a wrap maxi dress for quite a while, although navy isn’t a colour I’d normally have chosen, I can see I’ll be getting a lot of wear from it over the coming months. It’s one of those dresses you can just throw on with minimal effort.

The straw bag screams out Summer and I’ve collected quite a few over the years. I fell in love with this cross body style as soon as it came into my possession. It’s a gorgeous camel colour and looks amazing with a lot of my summer outfits, especially next to the navy dress and paired with some strappy high heeled sandals. The strap sits comfortably worn on the shoulder or across the body and has a clasp that pops shut securely, so no danger of all your contents falling out. Inside it’s fully lined and is large enough for your mobile, keys and card holder, as well as a lipstick and compact for any touch ups throughout the day. This is a firm favourite already.

I kept it simple with the rest of my accessories and completed the look with a few of my favourite items of gold jewellery. I bought them last year, yet they seem to go with so many things. They totally transform a plain white t-shirt and jeans by just slipping on a blazer and pair of heels for an evening look.

Styling A Maxi Dress For Summer

When the temperature started to drop I wore my trusty denim jacket which gave the maxi dress a more casual look, even though I was wearing heels. One accessory I do not own is a pair of casual pumps or a pair of trainers, but I’m sure they’d look equally fab with this dress too.

Let’s face it, this dress has everything I need for any occasion, it’s comfortable for travelling in, looks great for a day out with friends, it’s smart enough for a garden party and still looks classy for an evening out.
