Things I Want To Do This Autumn

Blimey, it honestly doesn’t seem a whole year since I was last thinking about everything I wanted to get done during Autumn, where has time gone? I don’t know about you, but  the Autumn is my favourite time of year, I’m sure I say that about every season but right now it’s Autumn. I love everything about it. yet there doesn’t seem to be enough weeks to enjoy everything I want to do. Just like  my Autumn Bucket List from last year, I’ve written down all the things that get me super excited for the season and I plan on having loads of fun over the coming months.

What better way to tick off a few things from my list than while my sister is staying with us, all the way from Canada. Perfect timing.

My Autumn Bucket List

Make The House All Cosy

A simple way of getting myself in the mood for the season is by making my home a little cosier, just in time for those colder temperatures. Drape a fluffy blanket over my sofa, and squishy, soft cushions everywhere. I want to stock up on candles that smells like apple and cinnamon or gingerbread, or maybe have a go at making my own potpourri using cinnamon and nutmeg mixed with dried flowers and orange peel. Then display it in a pretty bowl with items I’ve collected from a woodland walk, like acorns and pine cones. This year I also want to hang an Autumnal wreath on the front door.

Cook From An Old Family Recipe

I do miss my grandmother’s home baked apple pie and biscuits. I’m sure my Aunt has some of her old recipes written down in a book, and I’d like to have a go at making some of my own just the way she used to. I’ll be sure to invite family round for a tasting session and they can give me their honest opinion. I also want to make a stew from scratch and start using my slow cooker, can you imagine how divine the house would smell when I come home that day.

Enjoy Pumpkin Spice

I’ll admit that I’m a true convert to the seasonal pumpkin spice latte (be right back after I’ve just popped to Costa!) For breakfast I’ll be swapping granola for a bowl of hot porridge made with almond milk, berries and bananas and a hint of pumpkin spice, believe me it tastes so gooood. It wouldn’t be Autumn without having made enough pumpkin spice muffins to feed an army. Oh this is making my mouth water.

Attend An Autumn Fair

We have quite a few held in Church Halls near where I live and they are a great place to find unique gifts for Christmas and Birthdays. The stall holders sell items they’ve made such as jewellery, ceramics, modern and classical art, glassware, haberdashery and clothing, I’m sure I’ll even find a section for homemade jams chutneys and cakes. I love to have a good natter with local people over a steaming hot cup of tea.

Stock Up On New Season Makeup

There are so many new Autumn makeup launches I have my eye on right now, they have got me rather excited. This time of year I live for Berry, Plum and Burgundy. I’m just about done with pinks and peaches of Summer and ready to wear a bold plum lipstick, a smokey eye look or a beautiful burgundy nail polish.

Go To The Seaside

This may sound a bit strange but I’d love to stroll by the sea on a chilly day, with the wind blowing the cobwebs away, snuggled up in a cosy coat and jumper, eating chip shop chips and freshly made donuts with a hot mug of tea. Finishing the day by watching the sunset over the sea, getting some amazing photos.

Visit a Local Market

These are the last few months to enjoy seasonal, locally grown food from a market. When I get home I’ll aim to be creative with apples, beets, leeks, parsnips, and mushrooms and cook something amazing for all the family. Well, wish me good luck.

Pick My Own Pumpkin

I’d like to find where the best pumpkin field is near me and bring home one I’ve literally handpicked. I’ve never done this before and it always looks great fun, have I left it too late? Maybe I’ll have to buy one from the shops again this year, either way I want to make the traditional jack-o’-lantern, or have a go at carving a unique picture into my pumpkin just in time for Halloween.

Make Caramel Apples

Autumn is definitely apple season, making it the perfect time to enjoy some sweet, sticky caramel apples. I’ll have a cosy evening in with some friends and set up dishes with toppings such as crushed peanuts, granola, chocolate chips, and marshmallows ready to dunk them in. It could get messy, but an awful lot of fun and we’ll have something really tasty to eat.

Play In The Leaves

I plan on for a long woodland walk, collecting leaves and conkers. I love watching the leaves change to their bright autumnal colours and the crunchy sound they make.  I want to rack up huge piles just to have a kick about and yes, I will be letting out the inner child in me, but who cares, it’s all great fun. Autumn is such a colourful season, it smells different too, there’s more of a crisp, earthy smell or as I used to say when I was younger “It smells like potatoes!”

Make Leaf Art

I’ll hold my hands up, I am the least creative person when it comes to art but even I can manage to make something with all the leaves I’ll have collected on my walk. Possibly pressing and painting a couple in a frame that I could mount on the wall to make an autumn inspired artwork that I’ll be able to keep forever.

My Autumn Bucket Lis

Watch A Scary Movie

Until recently I had a huge fear of masks so I couldn’t celebrate Halloween. Thanks to therapy I had to help me over that fear I’m able to join in with everyone else. This year I want a full on scary movie night, with the lights turned off and huddled under a blanket. I’ll also be decorating the house with all things Halloween to really get us in the mood.

Stock Up On Halloween Treats

I may be be too old to go trick or treating, but I’m definitely not too old to enjoy sweets. Watch out Poundland because I’ll stocking up with all the jumbo bags of treats ready for our Halloween movie night. I could quite possibly end up on the biggest sugar high ever.,

Dress Up For Halloween

I’ve been invited to two parties this year and I can’t possibly go in the same outfit twice, that would never do. I’ll need to get a move on if I’m going to sort out two Halloween costumes, last year I dressed up as Wednesday Addams from The Addams Family and so many people didn’t recognise me.

A handful of conkers over autumn leaves

Start A Gratitude Journal

Although we don’t celebrate Thanksgiving in the the UK, there’s no better time to appreciate everything I have to be thankful for. I want to get into the habit of acknowledging something I’m grateful for every day of the year, and record it in a journal. Then I’ll be able to flick through whenever I’m feeling down.

Enjoy Bonfire Night

I am so excited to for 5th November, getting all cosy round bonfire with our friends. We’ll be roasting jacket potatoes and marshmallows, and telling stories while we gather around the flames. There’s bound to be loads of laughter too as they’ll most definitely be alcohol involved. It may be freezing cold, but that’s half the fun and I’ll be wrapped up in my thickest Parker (ok, more like a duvet!)

Celebrate Adrian’s birthday

It’s 24th November (in case I forget) and I hope to get all the family and his friends together for one big party. I already know what I’m getting him this year, it’s been something he’s wanted for quite a while.

Do you love Autumn? Have you got any plans for this year?

What's New In My Wardrobe

It’s fair to say I’m a little excited to see this Autumn Trends, I’ve pushed the boundaries this year and tried some styles that I would never normally have worn. As you know I’m a pink, floral girl, through and through, yet somehow when I tried these pieces on I felt confident and chic, they will be worn quite a lot over the coming months. I don’t know about you but I always find it tricky to style at this time of year, too warm for some things and too cold for others. Give it a few months and all I’ll be wearing is knitted dresses and knee high boots, oh and hats, lets not forget the hats. In the last few weeks of checking the on line stores I’ve practically fallen in love with everything I’ve seen. Our styles do evolve over time, but I think I’ve found some gorgeous items that fit with the Trends for Autumn 2018, yet I still feel like me when I wear them. They are the perfect pieces for my Autumn transitional wardrobe and I’ll be able to style them with so many things I already own.

You seemed to like my Spring Fashion Haul so I thought I’d show you all the new pieces I picked up from various High Street stores over the last few weeks.

What's New In My Wardrobe

Ankle boots are perfect for this time of year, this pair from Topshop are such a gorgeous neutral colour and extremely versatile. They’re great worn without tights if you want to pair them with cute skirts or dresses, as this shade is very flattering. And when the temperatures do start to drop they will look amazing with a pair of light coloured jeans or trousers. I absolutely love the block heel and pointed toe, which is very on trend for winter. It’s been ages since I bought a new pair of ankle boots and I can’t wait to start wearing these.

What's New In My Wardrobe

I wasn’t sure about this Snake Print Midi Shirt Dress at first as I honestly didn’t think I could pull it off. It’s so different for me. I had desperately been trying to get hold of the Topshop one that’s all over Instagram, but sold out as soon as it came in stock. I found this great alternative from New Look and I absolutely love it, it’s such a beautiful, versatile dress. When the weather does start to get colder I’ll be wearing this with boots and a faux fur jacket, you could also wear a jumper over the top. The shirt style is different for me too, but I think it looks such a classic design and feels lovely to wear. The quality is pretty good considering it’s from New Look. It looks super chic and will be worn loads over the coming months.

What's New In My Wardrobe, Pink Faux Leather Jacket

I’d been after a pink faux leather biker jacket for ages and as soon as I saw this one from ASOS it had to go straight into my basket. I also had a £10 loyalty voucher to put towards the cost, so that was a bonus. A lightweight jacket is any girls wardrobe staple, this one isn’t super warm but great to add an additional layer to your outfit without getting too hot on milder days. It’s perfect to add a touch of Autumn to your transitional wardrobe. I love everything about it, the colour is gorgeous and the gold hardware make it look super chic. This has to be my favourite piece from the entire haul.

What's New In My Wardrobe, New Look PVC Skirt

I wanted to add a few skirts into my Autumn wardrobe that weren’t floral, yes, I know, don’t worry, I am feeling ok. There’s nothing wrong with trying something different once in a while. The first one I bought was this Tan PVC Midi Skirt from New Look which also it also comes in black and burgundy. The colour is absolutely gorgeous and looks a lot more expensive than it was and doesn’t have that cheap, plastic feel that some PVC skirts have. It’s a real classic item to have. I’ve styled it with a chunky jumper and heels, it would also look amazing worn with my snakeskin blouse, a pretty cream blouse or a thin roll neck top. I’ve also seen people wearing them with a slogan T-shirt and trainers.

I’ve styled mine with this gorgeous slouchy jumper from Warehouse, which I already owned.  I love the trumpet sleeves and the neutral shade goes with everything, it’s an absolute dream to wear. Styling it with the PVC skirt is a great way to dress up a casual jumper.

What's New In My Wardrobe

The second skirt I’ve bought is this pretty Polka Dot Midi Skirt from Nasty Gal, it’s such a gorgeous autumnal colour and the perfect length on me. It’s so easy to throw on with a top and pair of heels, as I’ve done in the photo, it will also look amazing worn with a chunky jumper, ankle boots and a jacket when the weather’s not so warm. It’s one of those skirts that will take you from day to night and I’ll be reaching for it year after year.

What's New In My Wardrobe

What's New In My Wardrobe

I guess you could say I’m an animal print convert, considering it was a print I never thought I could wear. Now I know I feel comfortable and confident these items will be with me for a few years to come, they’re classic styles and not too over the top.

This snake print shirt is from Marks and Spencer, unfortunately I can’t find it on line but it may still be in some of the stores. It fits beautifully and I love the crinkle effect throughout the shirt. Having long sleeves means I can also wear it with my cream faux fur gillet and jeans for a more casual look. I think it goes perfectly with the nude cotton maxi skirt and equally it would look amazing worn with my Tan PVC skirt or white trousers. Snake print is definitely a huge trend this season and it’s all over the high street.

What's New In My Wardrobe

Accessories are a great way to introduce animal print into your wardrobe if you don’t want wear it head to toe. I picked up these gorgeous Snake Print Slingback Heels from Dorothy Perkins while they were on offer and I’m so glad I did. The heels  are not too high, roughly 3 inches, they feel so comfortable and look really chic. They have a real 80s feel about them, I love the pointed toe and sling back strap. Considering they’re snake print I was surprised at how many outfits I could wear them with, my shoes are usually a plain colour. I was so excited to get these that I wore them straight away.

What's New In My Wardrobe

I couldn’t resist this cute Leopard Print Bucket Bag from Topshop and fell in love with it as soon as I first held it. It goes with so many outfits and look adorable. The straps are faux leather, it can be worn cross body or used by the shorter handle, and the animal print panels have a soft, furry feel to them. It doesn’t look that big but inside is actually a decent size, I’m able to fit my mobile, makeup, wallet, hair brush and keys.

Have you jumped on the animal print trend? What kind of style will you be wearing this Autumn?

autumn clothing haul

Hurray, we’re finally in Autumn, guess how excited that makes me! If you’ve read my Autumn post then you’ll know how much I love stocking up on clothes for the new season. Twice a year I have a wardrobe clear out to make way for any new purchases and store any clothes I won’t be wearing until the next season. I’ve been shopping in some of my favourite stores including H&M, New Look and Next, so I’ve saved up all the items to show you what I bought in my high street clothing haul.

It is hard to photograph fashion items for a clothing haul blog post, so I’ll style them up and post a few pictures on my Instagram.

autumn fashion haul

I had been wanting a dungaree dress for ages but none of the ones I tried on seemed to fit in the right places. While I was out doing my grocery shopping in Sainsburys I came across this dark blue, knee length denim dungaree dress and as soon as I tried it on it fitted perfectly. It has buttons all the way down the front, a tie waist belt and two deep pockets on the hip, I think it’ll look great styled with tights ankle boots and a roll neck jumper underneath. I also picked up this long sleeve stripped T-shirt, it’s one of those basic items I never seem to have enough of and it will look equally good worn underneath this dress.

autumn fashion haul

Admittedly it was YouTube that influenced me to buy this dress but I fell in love with it as soon as I saw someone wearing it in their vlog. Most of my dresses are either too thick or too summery to wear during the first few months of Autumn and Winter. This chiffon midi dress is from New Look and has the floral and dotty print, it has long sleeves with tie cuffs and a wrap over style neckline with lace up detail down to the waist. This will look amazing styled during the day with tights, boots, a black biker style jacket and my wide brimmed hat. I’m so excited to be able to start wearing this dress now.

New Look dress with bardot neck

Whilst shopping at New Look I also fell in love with this beautiful black floral print dress, OK, so technically it’s still a summery dress but it was in the sale and I thought it would look great with heels for an evening out or worn with boots during the day if we suddenly had a week of Autumn sunshine. As well as the floral print it has a silvery stripes going down the length of the dress, I think this makes it look even more pretty. It has a large frilly, Bardot collar which is not my normal style, you have to step out of your comfort zone once in a while! It fit’s like a dream and I am going to get so much wear out of this dress.

river island check shirt

Autumn and Winter maybe the time I love to get cosy but I don’t always want to wear a baggy T-shirt on days where I’m dressing a bit more casual. I found this red and navy check shirt from River Island and it was just what I was looking for. It’s made from the softest cotton material and it’s not too thick so I can layer it up on extra cold days. I love that it has poppers down the front of the shirt, making it easy to get on and off, this shirt will look great styled with jeans and boots or under the denim dungaree dress. I also like that it has a scooped hemline, rather than one going straight across, so it’s more flattering for my body shape.

H&M loose knit jumper

I’d popped into H&M to see what knitwear they had in store when  I came acrose this beautiful loose knit jumper in powder pink and I was at the checkout before anyone could grab it out of my hand! I wanted to replace a similar jumper I’ve got in grey from a few years back, this time with something a bit more colourful. I love the baggy style of this one, it’s the kind of jumper you can throw on with a pair of jeans, boots and a coat or a pair of leggings for a lazy day at home.

pink knitted walking socks

Every Autumn there are two things I always stock up on: socks and a new pair of slippers. I have extremely cold feet, even in a heatwave, and I’ve already got quite a lot of pairs of cute patterned pairs of socks, so this year I thought I’d go for plain pink. Both of these pairs of socks came from a company called Sock Snob, which I have only just discovered. They are actually walking socks but they are so thick and soft that they will keep my feet warm and toasty. Last year I picked up a cute pair of fluffy cat slippers, so I thought I’d invest in something a bit more grown up! These pink fluffy ones are from Sainsburys, they have a hard sole and the softest faux fur lining. I like that they completely surround my feet so they won’t slip off!

matalan autumn pyjamas, next long sleeve autumn pyjamas

I don’t think I’ve done a clothing haul where I haven’t featured at least one pair of pyjamas! I’m sure I didn’t need any, but a new pair of cosy pjs every autumn is the law, isn’t it? The darker woodland print pyjamas and the pink coffee print pyjamas are both from Matalan. Both pyjama sets have short sleeve tops and elasticated waist bottom with ribbed ankle cuffs, I got them in the next size up as I don’t like to feel too restricted in bed but these pyjamas are so comfortable. Then I treated myself to the most adorable pair that I’ve ever owned! The neutral woodland print pyjamas are from Next and they are made of the softest material that feels almost like a flannelette texture. The top has long sleeves and the bottoms have elasticated waist with the cutest little bow detail. I am going to be so warm and snug wrapped up in these on a cold night. Is it acceptable to wear pjs out during the day?

I hope you enjoyed my clothing haul? if you’d like to find out what makeup I’ll be wearing this Autumn then head over to my recent post. Have you bought any new items this season?
