April Favourites

April flew past in a flash, I know I say this every month but April seems to have gone quicker than any other month. There was so much going on in my life, mostly good stuff and I am a little late putting up this favourites post, I’m sure you’ll forgive me.

I’ve been trying out loads of fab new products and it’s been so hard to narrow it down to which ones I’ve been loving the most, I’ve changed my mind like a zillion times!

Anyway, I’ll stop waffling and get straight down to business.

After months of my feet being stuck inside tights or socks with ankle boots, my feet were probably not looking there best. As the warmer weather is just around the corner, and hopefully I can finally start wearing my new sandals, I’ve been giving my feet a little extra love and attention. A couple of times a week I’ve been using Bare Foot Peppermint and Plum Foot Scrub to get rid of any dead, flaky skin especially around my heels and ankles. I’ve then applied Bare Foot Lavender and Mint Foot Cream, which not only smells incredible but leaves my feet feeling super soft. It also contains Tree Tree Oil to help soothe tired feet, so it’s great if you’re on your feet all day.

Staying on the subject of feet, I’ve been painting my toe nails just in case the sun does surprise me one day and for me I don’t wan’t my feet on show without a splash of colour, I really don’t like my nails bare if I’m wearing open toe shoes. I’m loving the cute pastel nail polishes from PoundLand as part of my mini at home pedicure. Lavender Cream and Popping Pink are just the prettiest colours ever! For a nail polish that only cost a £1, they are absolutely incredible, they dry super quick and last for ages before they start to chip.

I’ve been neglecting my hands a bit recently so when I saw one of my favourite hand treats was free with a magazine I gave in and bought it (one of my many weaknesses!). I’ve been using Neal’s Yard Remedies Wild Rose Hand Cream all month and it’s made my hands feel wonderfully soft again. I’ve been carrying it in my bag and applying it after my hands have been in water or when they just feel a bit dry. I’ve loved it so much that this one has run out, so it looks like I’ll be heading over to their website to order the full size product.

You may have seen these already over on my instagram, but I’m all about colour right now. I’m so in love with liquid lipsticks and for me NYX Liquid Suede has to be right up there at the top. The shade Run The World is a really vibrant purple and totally out of my comfort zone, but it is just a beautiful colour to wear and I’m trying to be even more daring with my makeup looks. The shade Pink Lust is a gorgeous bright fuschia which is probably more in keeping with what I’d normally wear and would look good day or night.. These are so lovely to apply, they don’t dry out my lips and last for ages after I’ve applied them.

I loved using Kat Von D Lock It foundation as part of my everyday makeup routine over this past month. Normally I’d have to apply a little extra foundation in the areas of my face that need a bit more coverage, but with this  one the first layer is more than enough to give me that flawless look. It feels so comfortable to wear, not heavy on my skin and it blends in so easily with my makeup sponge. I shall definitely be repurchasing this foundation and it’s going to be in my collection for quite a while yet!

I’ve finally got round to finishing Radical Self Help by Gala Darling. This book is not your typical self help book, it covers a range of topics but mainly self love and ways to bring positive energy into your life. Each chapter has a section of “homework” to do at the end, some of them I found fun and interesting to do. It made me look at areas of my life in a completely different way and learning how Tapping a body part can help you (no spoilers, sorry!). This book is absolutely brilliant, even if you’re a self help sceptic, I’d definitely recommend you read this book.

If you’ve seen my social media then you’ll already know how obsessed I’ve been with this New Look embroidered backpack ever since I got it, so I had to feature it in my monthly favourites. It’s so cute, the design has a Beauty and The Beast feel about it, which made me love it even more. It’s large enough for me to carry everything I need during the day and there’s a pocket either side for my essentials. I’ve been wearing it with a load of outfits such as the pink jacket I’m wearing in the photo and it looks great with my denim jacket too.

My Everyday Makeup Routine

It’s been ages since I’ve done a makeup post, where has the time gone? This is the makeup routine I do everyday when I want to look and feel my best, those days when I’m going out the front door and need to be presentable. If I’m at home then I usually dab on some tinted moisturiser, mascara and a lip balm or lip gloss (just in case anyone pops round unexpected!)

Primer

I start by using Makeup Revolutions Pro Base Blur Primer, it’s the only drugstore primer that actually works for me and it’s only £6! It’s a thick clear gel that has a silicone feel, you only need one pump to cover your whole face. This primer is lightweight, blends in easily using my fingers and makes my skin feel super soft, it is the perfect base for my makeup.

Foundation

I’ve been loving Kat Von D Lock It Foundation in shade Light Warm for a really flawless look. It’s a lovely creamy consistency and doesn’t dry out my skin, I use one pump on the back of my hand, then using my finger I dot some across my cheeks, forehead, chin and down my nose, then blend it in with a damp beauty blender. This foundation is incredible, it’s smooth application gives my complexion a wonderful flawless finish, concealing any blemishes. It’s lightweight but lasts all day and still looks amazing. This foundation out does any of my other favourite ones and is staying in my makeup bag forever!

Eyeshadow

This featured in my March Favourites post but it honestly is my go-to eyeshadow palette for an everyday look. The Colour Me Nude palette from W7 comes with 12 rosey, neutral toned shades, ranging from matte to shimmer. The soft creamy eyeshadows are super pigmented and so easy to blend , they have amazing staying power and haven’t faded by the end of the day. I swap and change which shades I use but usually start with a lighter one all over my lid, followed by a medium shade in the crease and a darker one in the outer corners, blending down under my lower lash line.

Eyeliner and Mascara

Oh my word, why have I only just discovered the Kat Von D Tattoo Liquid Liner, it’s absolutely incredible. I am rubbish at creating the perfect winged eyeliner but this one makes it so much easier to get right. It’s super pigmented in a bold black and yes, it does last, believe me, no amount of crying, eye rubbing or getting stuck in a downpour  is going to smudge this little beauty! When I first got the Too Faced Better Than Sex Mascara I didn’t think it would be that amazing because it has quite a large brush, but I absolutely love it. It puts quite a lot of mascara onto my lashes, making them look thick and full of volume, one coat is definitely enough. It wears lovely throughout the day and I’m not left with any flaky bits that have dropped onto my cheek. I’m pretty impressed with this mascara and the packaging is simply gorgeous!

Concealer and Powder

I’ve been using Collection Lasting Perfection Concealer for ages, it’s the only one I’ve found that covers up the dark circles under my eyes, so it’s my little magic wand. I dot the concealer where I need it and blend it in with a beauty sponge, it has the most amazing coverage concealing blemishes in a smooth matte finish. Then taking a large fluffy brush I set it all in place using NYX HD Studio Finishing Powder which has fantastic coverage.

Contour

I simply love the Makeup Revelation Iconic Lights Contour Palette if I want to add a little shape to my face, I’ll take a medium sized makeup brush and sweep the warmer shade (bottom row, second right) into the hollows of my cheeks and across the top of my forehead. These powders are so soft and creamy and incredibly pigmented, so don’t go over board at first!

Blusher and Highlighter

I’m currently using Milani Powder Blush as it’s one of my all time favourites, the shade Blossomtime Rose is a stunning peachy, pink shade with a slight golden highlighter. The blusher has a gorgeous rose shape to it and the rose gold packaging is just divine! If my complexion is looking a little dull then I’ll add a light dusting of Freedom Pro Highlighter across the tops of my cheek bones and on the bridge of my nose. I’m loving the shade Ambient, which isn’t too sparkly so it gives me a subtle dewy glow.

Lipstick

My absolute must have lipstick for everyday use is probably no surprise, Charlotte Tilbury Pillow Talk is a gorgeous pinky brown nude and suits almost everyone, it is just stunning. It’s a matte formula but doesn’t dry out my lips and is incredibly long wearing.  I’ll never get bored of Pillow Talk.

Setting Spray

To set all of my makeup in place and give it a little extra staying power I spray a couple of squirts of NYX Setting Spray in the dewy finish, it’s so comfortable to wear and it’s the only finishing spray that I’ve found doesn’t leave my face looking all powdery.

March Favourites

I have a nice selection for you in this month’s favourites, instead of the usual beauty products that I’ve loved during March I’ve also added in a couple of fashion and lifestyle things as well.

As there’s a lot to get through I’ll get straight on with it and give you the rundown of everything I’ve recently loved this month.

W7 Colour Me Nude Eye Colour Palette

It made my day when I found a good replacement for my beloved Urban Decay palette, but for a fraction of the price. I absolutely love this Colour Me Nude eyeshadow palette from W7, it comes with 12 rosey toned shades, including matte and shimmer and is perfect for both day and night. I found the eyeshadows to be highly pigmented and were easy to blend, I’m also pretty impressed at how long they last, as with some budget eyeshadows the colour fades after a few hours. The packaging is a good quality tin and looks more expensive than it is, a great bargain at only £5.99!

Milani Powder Blush in shade Blossomtime Rose

This Milani powder blush is a wonderful new addition to my makeup collection and all I can say is it’s gorgeous! The rose design and the beautiful rose gold packaging make it look so expensive. Blossomtime Rose is a peachy pink shade with a slightly golden highlighter to it. The powder is so soft and applies beautifully on my skin, either a lighter touch for a day time glow or something a bit bolder for an evening out. This beats any other blusher I have ever owned!

Charlotte Tilbury Matte Revolution Lipstick in Pillow Talk

A little bit of luxury and a special treat was needed for a night out with my friends, so I invested in a Charlotte Tilbury Lipstick. I chose the shade Pillow Talk so it would look just right with the darker eye look I’d gone for and I could also wear it anytime during the day. Yes, ok so it’s another nude and I probably own enough of those to get me through a world lipstick shortage, Pillow Talk is a rosey pinky brown shade which suits my skin and hair tone. It applies beautifully with a square shaped tip so it glides perfectly around the shape of your lips. The matte formula doesn’t make my lips feel dry, it’s also incredibly long lasting but to be honest I really wouldn’t mind having to touch this lipstick up in public with it’s gorgeous rose gold packaging.

Rose Gold Bangle

I hardly ever wear bracelets but saw this gorgeous rose gold one while I was browsing through Lylia Rose as they had a sale on at the time. I couldn’t resist using it to go with some of my spring outfits, it’s so pretty it would also look fabulous worn out in the evening without looking over the top. I love the small white diamante clasp, which adds some extra detail. The bangle feels sturdy but also looks dainty and feminine, I’ve just loved wearing it. I was amazed at the speed of the delivery, it arrived the day after I ordered it!

Boohoo Unicorn Pyjamas

In case you didn’t know, I am obsessed with unicorns and I finally own a pair of pyjamas with them all over! These are flippin amazing, they are made of silky satin material and just so comfortable to wear. I love them so much I almost want to stick on a pair of heels, pop on a blazer, grab a bag and wear them out, I’m sure I’d get some strange looks if I did! They feel so luxurious, especially slipping them on after a warm bath, I’ve not wanted to take them off, but obviously I had to so they could go in the wash.

Pixi Glow Tonic

This has to be my number one skincare favourite, of all time! The Pixi Glow Tonic is super gentle on my sensitive skin and I’ve been using this every evening after cleansing to remove any last traces of dirt and make up before using a serum. It’s definitely worth every penny, if you would like to read my full review you’ll find that here.

Barry M Matte Me Up Lip Kit

I was so excited to get hold of a Barry M Lip Kit, mine’s in the shade Runway, a gorgeous pinky red, it also comes in 2 other shades Go To Nude and Pose. I love everything about it, the shade, the texture and the price, £6.99 for a lip paint and lip liner, bargain! The lip paint applies well, stays on for ages and feels so lovely to wear, the lip liner is soft enough to out line your lips with colour but not to hard that you have too push down much that you almost stab your lips.

Beauty and The Beast

I couldn’t end my favourites post without mention my trip to the cinema to see Beauty and The Beast. This is one of my all time favourite animated Disney Films, so I was excited to see this version. To say I absolutely loved it is a slight understatement, I think I fell in love with all the characters even more, even Beast before he became the Beast (without giving any spoilers away!). I think the cast were fantastic, I love Emma Watson anyway but I think she does an amazing portrayal of Belle. The director and production team have done a fantastic job of bringing this much loved film to life once again. I could quite happily watch it all over again!

Pixi Beauty Glow Tonic Review

I’d seen Pixi Beauty products pop up almost everywhere and I’d read nothing but positive reviews, so I finally caved in and bought something from their range just to see what all the fuss was about.

The one that caught my eye was the Pixi Beauty Glow Tonic as it sounded like it would give a mini at home facial that would reveal perfectly glowing skin by removing dead skin cells. A few days later I was holding the cute little bottle in my hand ready to try it out.

As I wasn’t sure how my skin would react to using the Glow Tonic I purchased the smaller bottle from M&S for £10 and for that you get 100ml, Pixi also do a larger 250ml for £18.

I was expecting it to perform miracles after the first time I used it, but it’s one of those products you need to use for at least a few weeks to see the results you’re after. Toners are designed to use after cleansing to remove any traces of dirt and grime and help clear up any build up on your complexion that maybe hiding your natural glow.

Pixi Glow Tonic is less abrasive and a pleasure to use. I have sensitive skin, but thankfully this beautiful orange liquid didn’t dry my skin out and cause any irritation or redness. Unlike other toners and exfoliants, this one is extremely gentle but still actually works! It is alcohol free and contains Glycolic acid to remove any dead skin cells which can cause your skin to look dull.

After I have cleansed my skin, both morning and night, I pop a small amount of Glow Tonic onto a cotton pad and gently wipe it all over my face to remove any product that’s left behind. At first I thought it would sting and I’d end up giving it to my friend (like I usually do with products that don’t suit me) but she’s not getting her hands on this little beauty!! It is so gentle that it almost feels as though I’ve used water on my face and not a toner, it’s incredible and smells absolutely divine.

The first few times I used it, my skin felt instantly clean and refreshed, but I have been using it for about three weeks now, in the evening before my serum and night cream, and every other morning after I have used my cleanser. My skin is looking radiant and feeling super soft, making it perfect to apply my makeup. On the days I’ve gone bare faced, I’ve noticed a real healthy glow to my complexion. The Pixi Glow tonic contains Witch Hazel and Aloe Vera, so it’s helped clear up a few blemishes that I’d originally got before I’d started using this toner.

Pixi Glow Tonic definitely deserves all the hype it’s been getting, if you’re after something that not only leaves your skin looking brighter but feeling incredibly soft, then this is the one you need.

Yes, it’s a little more expensive than I’d usually spend but honestly, it’s well worth every penny and this little bottle is going to last me for ages. I know for sure, I shall be investing in the 250ml next time and possibly something else from the PIXI range.

Glossybox February 2017

Who needs a special occasion to treat yourself, or someone else, to a beauty subscription box? Luckily for me a friend of mine bought this one for me as a gift.

How gorgeous is the packaging on the February 2017 Glossybox? I usually keep any pretty boxes like this as storage boxes for beauty or stationery items, so it’ll definitely be used for that!

As I’m sure you’ve seen by now the February 2017 Glossybox is Valentine’s themed, but honestly you don’t need February 14th to tell someone you love them.

So let’s see what came inside this months box.

I can’t resist a good face mask, so imagine my delight when I found La Theorie Des Volcans Noir Eternae Purifying Youth Potion inside the box, which is a mineral rich mask with anti ageing ingredients. When the mask is first applied to your skin it goes on a thick pink paste, then turns grey as it sets to work on any impurities, sounds interesting and I can’t wait to give it a go! It’s paraben and silicone free and 90% natural.

Oh wow, a full size Ciate Paint Pot in Iced Frappe! You can’t beat a good nude nail colour for everyday use, this one is a warm nude with coffee undertones, and will suit almost anyone. I’ve had Paint Pot nail colours before and they are fantastic, they are super easy to apply and last for ages.

I think the MeMeMe Beat The Blues in Oyster Gold is absolutely gorgeous. It’s a warm gold shade of highlighter designed to boost the radiance of a winter complexion. It’s quiet a thick consistency, I think I was a bit heavy handed when I first tried it, so you do only need to dot it across your cheek bones, or mix a small amount in with your foundation for a beautiful all over illuminator.

It was so lovely to find a fragrance in this months box. A 30ml bottle of Jeanne Arthes is a generous size compared to some samples in some subscription boxes. The fragrance smells so pretty, I adore the scent of roses and this is one will be perfect for every day use as it’s quite subtle. They describe it as a classic scent combined with dreamy, elegant and crisp notes.

Last of all there is a sample sachet of Garnier Ultimate Blends Honey Treasures Strength Restore Balm, aimed to hydrate and nourish dry hair. I won’t be using this, so I am giving this one away.

We’re also given a sneaky peek into next month’s box where Glossybox are including a Sleek palete with each box where you can choose which of the four options you’d like to recieve. How fab is that?

Overall, not bad at all this month considering the Paint Pot polish is worth £9 on it’s own and I’ll definitely be using 4 out of the 5 products from the February’s box.

I am on the hunt for a new one to try so let me know if you have any suggestions.
