Touch In Sol

I’ll often choose a fresh, natural makeup look if I’m meeting friends for coffee or busy running errands in town. So today I thought I’d let you get ready with me, right down to the finished look and my simple everyday fragrance.

To prep my skin I’ll start off by cleansing and moisturising using some of my skincare essentials. Then I’ll apply a small amount of Kathleen Amazing White Illuminating Serum*, I have mentioned this a few times already, but it honestly feels beautiful on my skin. I’ll leave the link to my full review here if you want to find out more.

Kathleen Skincare

Touch In Sol is a new brand I’ve recently discovered, I’d literally seen it everywhere and decided to make a few cheeky purchases. I’ll apply the Feel Like Honey Moon Skin Base which is super hydrating and illuminating, I love the glow it gives to my skin then I’ll apply a few drops of Touch In Sol Flawless Skin Top Coat and blend it in with my fingers, as it reacts better to the warmth of my skin and I’ll get a more natural finish. The great thing about the Skin Top Coat is you don’t need separate products, it’s a three in one base: BB Cream, foundation and powder. It’s a lightweight liquid which you can build up to get the coverage you want and it doesn’t look cakey or too heavy.

The Body Shop Bronzing Powder

To add colour and warmth to my complexion I’ll sweep The Body Shop Bronzing Powder (shade 3) all over for a sunkissed look. It looks incredibly natural, as though I’ve spent all day out in the sun.

Makeup Revolution Liquid Highlighter

As I’m using a 3 in 1 base product, I don’t need to use a powder to set my makeup but I’ll apply a light dusting of the Hourglass Ambient Lighting Powder in the shade Dim Light to make my skin look even more luminous, instead of mattifying my complexion. I’ll apply a couple of tiny drops of Makeup Revolution Liquid Highlighter for a dewy glow, I absolutely love the pearly colour and creamy consistency.

NYX Sweet Cheeks Blush Palette

I’ll apply a light dusting of blusher from the NYX Sweet Cheeks Blush Palette, which is such a gorgeous palette. Today, I’m using the dusky pink shade (bottom row, second from the right) on the apple of my cheeks. The soft, creamy powders are extremely pigmented, blend in beautifully and aren’t drying in the slightest.

Urban Decay Naked Eyeshadow Palette

Keeping my eye look really simple I’ll apply the shade Toasted (fourth from the right) from the Urban Decay Naked Palette. I’ll sweep it all over my lid, going in a little heavier on the outer lid and along the crease. To add definition I’ll take a thin eyeshadow brush and run the shade Darkhorse close to my upper and lower lash line. A few coats of brown mascara and my eyes are done. I’m currently using one from Ted Baker which came in a makeup set, but another one I use lot for a super natural eye look is My Favourite Mascara by GOSH.

Joan Collins Beauty Glorious Gloss

I simply adore these two lip products from  Joan Collins Beauty. The one I’m wearing today is the Glorious Gloss* in the shade Piper, which is a stunning soft, rosey pink colour and just perfect for the look I’ve chosen. It applies lovely and feels comfortable to wear without being sticky like some lip glosses. I could easily adapt this to an evening look just by changing the lip colour. The Joan Collins Beauty Divine Lips* in the shade Lady Joan is a gorgeous deep pink shade and would look amazing if you wanted to feel slightly more glamorous on a date night.

Essence Cosmetics Nail Colour

Some days I’ll have gone all out natural, right down to my nails. I have found the perfect blush pink nail polish from Essence Cosmetics Nail Colour in the shade Rosewood Forest. Guess what, it cost’s a grand total of £1.60! I’ve not had much luck with some budget nail polishes but this one is an absolute dream. It’s easy to apply, one coat and it’s done, plus it last a good 4 days before showing any signs that it’s time to re-do my nails.

Ted Baker Blush Pink Body Spray

To finish off I’ll spray a spritz with a light fragrance to make me smell nice, such as this Ted Baker Body Spray in Blush Pink. It has a really pretty feminine smell, with soft florals and notes of jasmine, sandalwood and musk. The nail polish in this photo is by Sally Hansen Color Therapy in the shade Powder Room, which is a beautiful pearly pink shade and another favourite of mine.

GRWM: Everyday Makeup Look

It’s a super, simple makeup look, I feel dressed and ready for the day ahead. No fancy background, just me in my bedroom doing my makeup. Do you know what? I’m feeling good, and that’s what matters.

Makeup I'll Be Using For The Festive Season

All the sparkly things come out for Christmas, I hang baubles on the tree, drape tinsel everywhere and even have sequins on my Santa jumper. My Festive makeup routine is no different. As soon as my diary starts to fill up with festive get togethers, Christmas shopping dates and parties then it’s all about the glitter and glow. I love to wear products I know well and won’t bring me out in a reaction as well as adding in a touch of glamour to my Christmas makeup bag. I want to know the products will be reliable and won’t have me reaching for them every five minutes to reapply.

This will be my makeup routine and the products I’ll be using throughout the festive period. Any excuse to reach for the glitter!

what's in my festive makeup bag

I’ve been using Urban Decay Naked Skin Weightless Liquid Makeup and this is perfect for a flawless glowing base over the festive season. For those dark circles under my eyes and to cover up any blemishes, I’ve been applying the Urban Decay Naked Skin Weightless Concealer, it has the most amazing coverage in a smooth matte finish. To keep it all in place I’ll apply Too Faced Primed and Poreless Powder, which feels incredibility smooth and doesn’t clump up on any dry patches.

What's In My Makeup Bag For Christmas

I’ve totally fallen in love with Too Faced Sweet Peach Glow Palette. For a maximum festive glow I apply the bronzer in the hollows of my cheeks and along my forehead to contour my face, dusting whatever is left on the brush all over my face just to give my face a little warmth. I’ll add a small amount of blusher over the apple of my cheeks and using a fan brush I’ll sweep the highlighter shade over my cheek bones, which gives me just the right amount of shimmer when the light catches it. The powders are incredibly soft, blend in wonderfully and the shades are super pigmented. It’s such a pretty cheek palette that I can see why so many people have it in their makeup collection..

The final step to my base is a light dusting of Hourglass Ambient Lighting Powder, for an extra touch of shimmer.

What's In My Makeup Bag This Christmas

For my everyday look I usually go for a matte brown eye look using a selection of shades from the Tarte Tartelette In Bloom palate. It is one of the most beautiful eyeshadow palattes I’ve ever used, with 12 soft creamy powders in a mix of matte and shimmer shades. They blend in beautifully without any fall out. The darker shades are perfect to add a smokey eye to any evening makeup look.

What's In My Makeup Bag This Christmas

I apply Tanya Burr’s Selfie Flick Eyeliner to line my upper lash line, it’s absolutely incredible for creating the perfect winged eyeliner. It’s super pigmented in bold black and has excellent staying power. I then coat my lashes with a couple of coats of Tanya Burr Selfie Lash Mascara, the medium fibre brush helps to lengthen and define each lash, yet adding loads of volume. It doesn’t clump up or go all flakey and doesn’t smudge so I know I won’t have streaks running down my cheek half way through the evening. it’s the perfect mascara for thicker, fuller lashes on any occasion.

Occasionally I’ll use Maybelline Color Tattoo cream eyeshadow in the shade Pink Gold. I’ll dab it over any areas of my eyelid I want to highlight using my finger tips.

What's In My Makeup Bag For Christmas

No party look would be complete without the glitter. I invested in the much talked about Stila Written In The Stars Glitter & Glow Liquid Eyeshadow Set and oh boy, they are pure glitter heaven in gold and pink tones. The shades are absolutely stunning, Kitten Karma (champagne with copper glitter), Diamond Dust (silver with multi coloured glitter) and Smokey Storm (Pewter with silver glitter). They are extremely versatile and easy to use, perfect for all over your eye lid for a full on glitter look. Alternatively you could dab a small amount in the centre of your lid or inner corner to add a little highlight.

What's In My Makeup Bag For Christmas

I have a selection a day time lipsticks including Smashbox Be Legendary Lipstick in the shade Monogamous, which is a gorgeous browny nude and is a creamy moisturising formula. However my  Festive makeup routine wouldn’t be complete without a statement red lip. My three Favourites are Charlotte Tilbury Matte Revolution in the shade Bond Girl, Too Faced Melted Matte Liquified Lipstick in the shade Lady Balls and Urban Decay Vice Lipstick in the shade Temper.

What's In My Makeup Bag This Christmas

For my my nails I’m obsessed with this set of two polishes from Leighton Denny*, it contains two smaller versions of the shades Passion, a classic red, and Supermodel, a beautiful mink colour, both perfect for the party season. They are good quality nail polish, glides on beautifully and last pretty well before chipping. I think this would also make a wonderful stocking filler at only £10, considering a single full size bottle costs £12 each.

I can’t let the festive season go by without wearing a bit of sparkle on my nails too, so I’ve been wearing Barry M Molten Metal Nail Paint in the shade Pink Ice.

A makeup look full of glitter and shimmer is always a favourite of mine at this time of year. What are your favourite products for the festive season?

wonderland makeup review

As a lover of makeup I love discovering new brands and being a blogger has given me the opportunity to experiment with different products that I would normally have shied away from. I hadn’t heard of Wonderland Makeup before they approached me asking if I would like to test out a few items from their website. I was beyond excited and couldn’t wait to see what arrived in the post.

Wonderland is a UK based company that sell high quality makeup at affordable prices. They are 100% cruelty free and have a vast range of products from foundations and primers, to eyeshadows and mascaras.

Here’s what products I’ve been testing so I could share what I thought with you.

wonderland makeup studio fix primer Review

wonderland makeup studio fix primer

I’ve had difficulty with some primers before as I have very dry skin. The Studio Finish Primer made my skin feel beautifully hydrated and gave me a lovely smooth base to apply my foundation. It’s a clear gel formula and you only need a small amount to cover your whole face. It’s lightweight and quickly absorbed into my skin without leaving it feeling sticky or greasy, you can basically apply your foundation straight away. This feels so comfortable to wear underneath any base products and made my foundation much easier to blend and also last that little bit longer. I think it’s absolutely fabulous as it helped to reduce large pores around my nose, which is usually a problem area for me, it also minimises any fine lines you may have.

wonderland makeup eyeshadow

The eyeshadows are super cute and mine came in the shade C Blue, which I knew I’d love from the moment I saw it. I’m usually into greys and browns for everyday wear but this colour will be perfect for a going out look. This vibrant blue is extremely pigmented, I only used one swipe of eyeshadow for the swatch and there was no fall out when I tried it with a brush. It’s a soft creamy powder that blends in easily, leaving a wonderful pop of colour on my eyelid and it lasted a lot longer than some other brands which cost a lot more.

wonderland makeup nail polish in shade snow white

I have quite a collection of nail polishes, some I love more than the others The last item from Wonderland Makeup was this beautiful nail polish in the shade snow white, which is a shade I wouldn’t normally wear. It applies really well and dries quickly, so that’s definitely a bonus for some one like me who ends up fidgeting after five minutes. I noticed a few chips starting to appear after about four days, so it lasts incredibly well. I think this shade would also look amazing to use as a base colour when you want to apply nail art.

wonderland makeup review

Overall, I’m really impressed with Wonderland Makeup, I think it’s worth every penny. The packaging is super cute and doesn’t feel flimsy, the products are good quality and very affordable and they have a good range of shades to choose from. I’m definitely going to add a few pieces from their range into my makeup collection.

If you fancy treating yourself to a few bits from their website you can save yourself 15% by using the discount code Bloglife15 at the checkout.

boohoo makeup

I couldn’t contain my excitement when I heard BooHoo had launched their own makeup collection and I couldn’t wait to try it out for myself. Scrolling through the website I came across so many gorgeous products from other brands including W7 and Technic, but I decided to pick up a few items from BooHoo’s own cosmetics range and put them to the test.

The BooHoo makeup includes eyeshadow palettes, liquid lipsticks and lip kits, a setting spray, primers and highlighter palettes. They also have a set of four rosegold oval makeup brushes and a set of two beauty blending sponges! Here’s what I bought and my first impressions.

boohoo makeup, boohoo liquid lipstick, boohoo primer, boohoo highlighter

The first product I tried from my BooHoo makeup haul was the Illuminating Primer. This is quite a thin liquid, it applied well and was easy to blend, giving my complexion a healthy dewy glow. The primer felt really comfortable to wear over the drier areas of my skin but sadly it accentuated the large pores around my nose area.

The Highlight Palette is simply gorgeous, it’s set in rose gold packaging and at only £6 you’re getting a real bargain. The powders are incredibly soft and blend beautifully, the shade on the right has to be my absolute favourite. The glow that came off this little beauty matched a couple of my more expensive highlighting palettes!

boohoo liquid lipstick

I’m still very much in love with liquid lipsticks, especially in a good nude as they go with everything, for any occassion. I chose a pack of three liquid lipsticks from BooHoo which included a nude, pale pink and darker pink. Unfortunately the packs don’t have a shade written on them, but I really loved the raspberry pink colour. The liquid lipsticks applied really nicely with an easy to use applicator, the colour dried quite quickly into a stunning matte finish. It lasted pretty well, just not quite as long as I’d hoped but for £8 you’re getting three liquid lipsticks so I won’t complain.

The lip kit I chose was in the shade Pink. The liner applied really nicely without dragging my skin but the lip shade did feel a bit sticky and took a few coats to build up any colour. I’m going to keep this one in my bag for emergencies. at £4 it doesn’t matter too much if I lose it after one too many glasses of wine on a night out!

boohoo eyeshadow palette

The BooHoo Makeup Collection has a choice of three eyeshadow palettes, Smokey, Bronze/Nude and Colourpop and these have to be my favourite products from the whole range, I have the Colourpop palette with a mix of pinks, purples and nudes eyeshadows, perfect for any time of day, the bottom 4 shades are absolutely stunning! The powder is so soft, the shades have a high pigment and they’re easy to blend. The eyeshadow palettes cost £10 and with eight shades you do get a lot for your money.

Overall I think the Boohoo cosmetics range is a good budget brand if you’re just starting out in makeup or you don’t really want to spend a lot of money out on products. The range is also cruelty free.

I’ve also recently made a shopping trip to pick up some new clothes for Autumn and if you’d like to see what I bought then I’ll leave the link here.

Have you tried anything from the new BooHoo Makeup range?

a selection of makeup

For me, a change in seasons usually means a change in my makeup routine, or at least delving to the back of my beauty drawer and bringing out some long forgotten favourites. After months of wearing pastel pinks and a bronzy look, I’ll swap my every day makeup to something a little warmer, with the main additions being darker lip products. I feel much more confident when I wear makeup and use products I know will give me the best possible result.

a selection of make up from GOSH, Urban Decay and Too Faced

Before I go anywhere near my face with a scrap of makeup I’ll prep my skin by carrying out my daily skincare routine. Then I’ll apply GOSH Primer Plus+ is pretty amazing, it smooths out my skins texture and helps my makeup last longer. This primer is super lightweight and comes in a pale nude shade when you first apply it, it will quickly adapt to most skin tones. I only need one pump to cover the whole of my face and it blends in easily using my fingers, making my skin feel super soft. It contains oak extract, plus it’s anti pollution and is perfume free, which is great for my sensitive skin and a perfect base for my makeup.

a selection of makeup

Having the perfect base allows the rest of my makeup to come together for a flawless finish. Too Faced Born This Way Foundation has a lovely creamy consistency and doesn’t dry out my skin. I use one pump on the back of my hand and dot some across my face, blending it in with a damp beauty blender. This foundation is incredible, it’s smooth application gives my complexion a wonderful flawless finish with a medium to full coverage, concealing any blemishes. It’s lightweight, lasts all day and still looks amazing. This is my new go-to foundation, so I’ll be using this one for quite a while!

I simply love the Makeup Revelation Iconic Lights Contour Palette if I want to add a little shape to my face, taking a medium sized makeup brush I’ll sweep the warmer shade (bottom row, second right) into the hollows of my cheeks and across the top of my forehead. These powders are so soft and creamy and incredibly pigmented, so don’t go over board at first!

GOSH The Strobe ‘N Glow Kit in 002 Blush is a gorgeous cheek palette which includes a beautiful matte blush in a peachy shade, two highlighting blushers and a highlighter. All four shades are stunning, the powders are incredibly soft and blend in beautifully.

Hourglass Highlighting palette

To brighten up my complexion I’ll add dusting of Hourglass Ambient Lighting Powder all over my face. I’m using the shade Dim, which is a neutral peach beige, without being too sparkly. It helps to blurr any imperfections and gives me a healthy radiant glow.

a tube of concealer from Urban Decay

I’ve been using Urban Decay Naked Skin Complete Coverage Concealer for covering up the dark circles under my eyes, it’s my little magic wand. I dot a small amount where I need it and blend it in with a beauty sponge, it has the most amazing coverage, concealing blemishes in a smooth matte finish.

yellowed toned face powder

I set my concealer in place with GOSH Prime ‘N Set Primer and Mattifying Powder in Banana, occassionally I use it after I’ve applied my foundation to help control  shine and create a flawless look. It’s so incredibly lightweight that it didn’t feel like I was wearing any powder at all. You can also use it under your makeup as a primer to help minimize pores, fine lines and redness.

eyeshadow palette

The Urban Decay Naked Palette is one of my all time favourite eyeshadow palette for an everyday look. The palette comes with 12 golden neutral toned shades, including matte, satin and  shimmer. Each eyeshadow has a silky texture and blends in effortlessly, the shades are super pigmented and have amazing staying power. I apply Naked all over my lid, Smog in the crease, then I’ll take Darkhorse in the outer corners, blending it up into the crease and along my lower lash line. I’ll finish with Sidecar on the inner part of my eyelid and Virgin right in the inner corner.

a mascara from GOSH

I use Kat Von D Tattoo Liquid Liner to line my upper lash line, it’s absolutely incredible. I am rubbish at creating the perfect winged eyeliner and this one makes it so much easier to get right. It’s super pigmented in bold black and stays put all day, no amount of crying, eye rubbing or getting stuck in a downpour  is going to smudge this little beauty!

GOSH My Favourite Mascara gives your lashes a wonderful, natural, everyday look. The large fibre brush helps to lengthen and define each lash, yet adding loads of volume without going all clumpy. It puts quite a lot of mascara onto my lashes, making them look thicker and fuller, one coat is definitely enough. It wears lovely throughout the day and I’m not left with any flaky bits that have dropped onto my cheek. It’s smudge proof, lasts all day and still looked amazing when I got home, even after my eyes were watering!

a selection of lip products

For everyday I’ll apply NYX Lip Liner in Nude and Smashbox Be Legendary Lipstick in the shade Monogamous, which is a gorgeous browny nude and is creamy, a moisturising formula. I’m also obsessed with Barry M Matte Me Up Lip Kit in Allure which is a stunning metallic plum shade. I love wearing a bolder lip and some my favourites this season are NYX Butter Gloss in shade Red Velvet, Sleek Matte Lipstick in shade Russian Roulette, GOSH Lipstick in the shade Amethyst, and Rodial Suede Lips in shade Big Apple. These lip products are all incredibly long lasting and feel really comfortable to wear without drying out my lips.

rose gold makeup brushes

Rose Gold Makeup Brushes and a selection of makeup

I have a vast collection of different makeup tools including brushes from Real Techniques, Spectrum and Indy Luxe. More recently I’ve been using these rose gold oval ones from Luxe Studio Uk, if you’d like to read more about them I’ll leave the review I wrote about them here.

Have you got a favourite product you always use or do you change your look with the seasons?
