Spring Trends

Spring is practically on our door step and sadly it’s almost time for my knee high boots and chunky knits to go into storage until next year. It does mean new season clothes and making that transition from Winter to Spring. I thought you’d like to see the key trends that I’ll be wearing this year.

Spring is one of my favourite seasons when it comes to fashion, I get so excited to see pastels, lace and pink back in the shops. This year they were huge on the catwalk and now that high street brands have made them into more wearable, every day pieces I’ve been adding a few new items into my wardrobe so that I can start wearing some of the Spring Trends right now. I’ve tried following trends before, just because everyone else is wearing them, and I’ve bought things that simply don’t suit me. Last year I had a massive clear out, it was actually quite shocking how many items I’d not worn. The pieces that were left hanging in my wardrobe were things I felt good in, they were girly, feminine items and could be mixed together to make so many different outfits. I had followed my own personal style.

Spring Trends

Pastels

I’m sure I’m not the only one who’s excited that pastels are actually a huge trend this year, yay my personal style is back in fashion. I’ve loved wearing pastels, pinks and nudes for so many years and I already have quite a selection of pastel knits, coats and accessories that work well together to make a pretty Spring outfit. I get my knitwear and tops from New Look, H&M, Topshop and ASOS, where I’ve found some affordable, good quality pieces. I’m also still in love with my pink cord mini skirt which I got for my Birthday, it look’s gorgeous with my new pink coat.

Accessories are a great way to bring your outfit up to date, if you don’t fancy head to toe pastel why not give a gentle nod to the trend by adding a bag or pair of shoes. I love this blush pink, faux suede bag from Topshop, it has a gold chain which can be extended into a single strap and worn cross body or pulled together to make two handles and worn on the shoulder. Considering it’s size, this bag is actually quite spacious so you can fit more than just your mobile and keys in it, and it doesn’t make your outfit look too bulky. I’ve also fallen in love with these round, block heeled shoes from Dorothy Perkins. They are super feminine and the rose pink shade goes with so many things I already own, they will be worn with my floral dresses and midi skirts over the coming months.

Lace

Lace was another Spring trend I was excited to see on the highstreet this year. There are loads of different styles of lace tops around and they can totally transform an outfit. I found this beautiful long sleeve lace blouse on ASOS, to make it wearable now I popped it on underneath a lightweight v-neck jumper as it’s perfect for layering. It looks gorgeous when worn alone with midi skirts or high waisted trousers. It’s the sort of top that instantly dresses up a pair of jeans, just add a cross body bag and pair of heels and you have a wonderful Spring outfit.

Spring Trends

Midi Shirts

I love wearing midi skirts, they’re a flattering length without looking too frumpy and it’s a style that suits my height (I’m just short of 5ft 8”). Midi skirts are a key spring trend that can be worn casual with a sweat top and trainers or pretty blouse and heels, whatever suits your personal style. I love to wear this pleated peach midi skirt with a high neck lace top, a thin knit and block heels, it will also look fabulous during the summer months with a camisole top and strappy sandals.

Florals

I was so excited to start wearing floral skirts and dresses again, I’ve been layering up with thin knits and a cream belted coat for a wearable Spring look. A floral dress is my go-to piece and it practically goes with anything, pair it with some ankle boots or block heels for a day look and a pair of pointed heels if I’m going out in the evening. This season I’ve been wearing my floral skirts a lot with pretty blouses and lace tops for a super feminine outfit and they will see me right through to the warmer months when I’ll throw on a t-shirt and a pair of sandals,

Spring Trends

Lilac

Lilac is another Spring Trend that I already have in my wardrobe. I found this beautiful lilac shift dress on Amazon last Summer, it’s probably not quite warm enough for me to wear it just yet but it won’t be long before I can style it with a cream blazer and nude heels for a fun girly outfit. These lilac shoes have been in my wardrobe for years and look amazing worn with a pair of white cropped trousers and a white lace top. I just need a bag like this one I’ve seen in Topshop and my look is complete.

Spring Trends

Trench Coats

Trench coats have been around for years and are the perfect way to transition your outfit from Winter to Spring. I absolutely fell in love with this blush pink wrap coat after seeing it on Katie Kirk’s Instagram. It’s slightly on the heavier side but just what you need for layering up on a crisp Spring morning, it’s a 3/4 length, making it a versatile piece to have in your wardrobe this season.

Then you have the more traditional style of Trench Coat which can make any outfit look chic and pulled together. I’ve been wearing mine with midi skirts and thin knits but this style of coat looks equally as good styled with a t-shirt, pair of jeans and ankle boots. Knowing the ever changing weather in the UK this coat will get an awful lot of wear over the coming months.

The Finishing Touches

Lets not forget those little extras that complete an outfit. If the rest of your outfit is quite plain, a pretty floral scarf will instantly give a lift to your look. You don’t have to spend a lot on accessories, I picked this pastel one up from Primark last summer for a grand total of £2. I adore wearing pretty gold jewellery with any outfit, most of the items I own are dainty, feminine pieces that work for day or night. I absolutely love wearing this Ted Baker cuff bracelet from ASOS, no surprise it has a pink floral design at each end. To finish off my outfit, I’ll add a spritz of my favourite fragrance. My current favourite is Victoria Secret’s Love Eau De Parfum, it has a light, fresh smell with hints of juniper and apricot blush, making it perfect for wearing on a Spring day.

I also have my eye on some check prints at the moment, there are some gorgeous over sized blazers and knee length skirts, which I can team with items I already own. Keep an look out on my Instagram Stories where I often share outfit of the day photos and you’ll see me wearing these items a lot over the coming months.

What’s your favourite Spring outfit? Are you ultra feminine like me or do you prefer a more casual look?

autumn clothing haul

Hurray, we’re finally in Autumn, guess how excited that makes me! If you’ve read my Autumn post then you’ll know how much I love stocking up on clothes for the new season. Twice a year I have a wardrobe clear out to make way for any new purchases and store any clothes I won’t be wearing until the next season. I’ve been shopping in some of my favourite stores including H&M, New Look and Next, so I’ve saved up all the items to show you what I bought in my high street clothing haul.

It is hard to photograph fashion items for a clothing haul blog post, so I’ll style them up and post a few pictures on my Instagram.

autumn fashion haul

I had been wanting a dungaree dress for ages but none of the ones I tried on seemed to fit in the right places. While I was out doing my grocery shopping in Sainsburys I came across this dark blue, knee length denim dungaree dress and as soon as I tried it on it fitted perfectly. It has buttons all the way down the front, a tie waist belt and two deep pockets on the hip, I think it’ll look great styled with tights ankle boots and a roll neck jumper underneath. I also picked up this long sleeve stripped T-shirt, it’s one of those basic items I never seem to have enough of and it will look equally good worn underneath this dress.

autumn fashion haul

Admittedly it was YouTube that influenced me to buy this dress but I fell in love with it as soon as I saw someone wearing it in their vlog. Most of my dresses are either too thick or too summery to wear during the first few months of Autumn and Winter. This chiffon midi dress is from New Look and has the floral and dotty print, it has long sleeves with tie cuffs and a wrap over style neckline with lace up detail down to the waist. This will look amazing styled during the day with tights, boots, a black biker style jacket and my wide brimmed hat. I’m so excited to be able to start wearing this dress now.

New Look dress with bardot neck

Whilst shopping at New Look I also fell in love with this beautiful black floral print dress, OK, so technically it’s still a summery dress but it was in the sale and I thought it would look great with heels for an evening out or worn with boots during the day if we suddenly had a week of Autumn sunshine. As well as the floral print it has a silvery stripes going down the length of the dress, I think this makes it look even more pretty. It has a large frilly, Bardot collar which is not my normal style, you have to step out of your comfort zone once in a while! It fit’s like a dream and I am going to get so much wear out of this dress.

river island check shirt

Autumn and Winter maybe the time I love to get cosy but I don’t always want to wear a baggy T-shirt on days where I’m dressing a bit more casual. I found this red and navy check shirt from River Island and it was just what I was looking for. It’s made from the softest cotton material and it’s not too thick so I can layer it up on extra cold days. I love that it has poppers down the front of the shirt, making it easy to get on and off, this shirt will look great styled with jeans and boots or under the denim dungaree dress. I also like that it has a scooped hemline, rather than one going straight across, so it’s more flattering for my body shape.

H&M loose knit jumper

I’d popped into H&M to see what knitwear they had in store when  I came acrose this beautiful loose knit jumper in powder pink and I was at the checkout before anyone could grab it out of my hand! I wanted to replace a similar jumper I’ve got in grey from a few years back, this time with something a bit more colourful. I love the baggy style of this one, it’s the kind of jumper you can throw on with a pair of jeans, boots and a coat or a pair of leggings for a lazy day at home.

pink knitted walking socks

Every Autumn there are two things I always stock up on: socks and a new pair of slippers. I have extremely cold feet, even in a heatwave, and I’ve already got quite a lot of pairs of cute patterned pairs of socks, so this year I thought I’d go for plain pink. Both of these pairs of socks came from a company called Sock Snob, which I have only just discovered. They are actually walking socks but they are so thick and soft that they will keep my feet warm and toasty. Last year I picked up a cute pair of fluffy cat slippers, so I thought I’d invest in something a bit more grown up! These pink fluffy ones are from Sainsburys, they have a hard sole and the softest faux fur lining. I like that they completely surround my feet so they won’t slip off!

matalan autumn pyjamas, next long sleeve autumn pyjamas

I don’t think I’ve done a clothing haul where I haven’t featured at least one pair of pyjamas! I’m sure I didn’t need any, but a new pair of cosy pjs every autumn is the law, isn’t it? The darker woodland print pyjamas and the pink coffee print pyjamas are both from Matalan. Both pyjama sets have short sleeve tops and elasticated waist bottom with ribbed ankle cuffs, I got them in the next size up as I don’t like to feel too restricted in bed but these pyjamas are so comfortable. Then I treated myself to the most adorable pair that I’ve ever owned! The neutral woodland print pyjamas are from Next and they are made of the softest material that feels almost like a flannelette texture. The top has long sleeves and the bottoms have elasticated waist with the cutest little bow detail. I am going to be so warm and snug wrapped up in these on a cold night. Is it acceptable to wear pjs out during the day?

I hope you enjoyed my clothing haul? if you’d like to find out what makeup I’ll be wearing this Autumn then head over to my recent post. Have you bought any new items this season?

We’re round to another monthly favourites post again and this month I have been trying a number of new products, luckily most of them I’ve really loved using. May was also a great month for me as I had my cousin come to stay for a long weekend, we had a fantastic time and generally enjoyed each other’s company. As much as I love her I almost feel the need to put my makeup and wardrobe under lock and key so she doesn’t help herself to my stuff without asking!

As we suddenly had a mini heatwave in the UK I wanted a body spray that would freshen me up during the day and still smell divine, not a heavy perfume. Superdrug have introduced their Layering Lab range with 6 options to choose from. You can spray two of the scents at once to create your own unique smell or just wear one on it’s own. After smelling all of them I decided to opt for Fresh which has a delicious fruity, citrus smell and it’s such a bargain at only £2.99 that I will probably purchase one of the other scents too. I’ve been wearing it almost every day and carrying in my bag for when I need to freshen up.

After being wrapped up in thick woollies for so many months, I wanted to give my body some pampering. I always suffer from dry skin on my elbows, knees and ankles but this Scrub Love Detoxifying Activated Charcoal Body Scrub from scrublove.com has really help sort those areas out.  It smells so different to what I’m used to with body scrubs, but it made my skin feel so soft and hydrated. I love that it’s 100% natural ingredients, this one contains Avocado and Aloe Vera, which are both great for dry, sensitive skin.

Who doesn’t love a good face mask as part of there weekly skincare routine. I’ve had a few break outs around my nose, chin and across my forehead, I put it down to getting hot and sweaty during the warmer weather. While I was on the Lush store stocking up on bath bombs I came across this Cupcake Mask, I think it was the name that caught my eye rather than the actual product at first because it’s actually meant for oily skin. However after trying it for a few times, I couldn’t help fall in love with it. I’ve only been applying it to areas on my skin that have had problems and it’s pretty much sorted them out. Plus it smells amazing, I had to try not to eat it!

If you’re like me and suffer from dry flaky lips occasionaly then you need to try Lush Bubblegum Lip Scrub. You simply apply with your finger and gently rub it in and it leaves your lips feeling wonderfully soft and it’s completely removed any dead skin, I then just apply my favourite lip balm. It smells incredible and leaves your lips with a gorgeous sweet taste afterwards. I’ve been wearing a lot of liquid lipsticks lately and some of them can really dry out my lips, but this gorgeous scrub has made my lips feel so smooth and ready to apply whatever lip colour I’ve chosen that day.

There were some days I’ve not wanted to wear much makeup but still wanted to have a natural, summer glow. I’ve loved using these No7 Perfectly Bronzed Bronzing Pearls to give my face a nice healthy, holiday look. I use a medium sized makeup brush, swirl it over the pearls and apply to areas of my face where I want it to look as though I’ve been out in the sun. It is highly pigmented so you only need to apply a small amount if you’re pale like me. I can see I’ll be using these a lot over the coming months.

There had to be a liquid lipstick in here somewhere, didn’t there? I’ve not used many GOSH products before but after discovering I had some points on my Superdrug card I thought I’d treat myself to these gorgeous items. The Liquid Matte Me Lips is a stunning pink in shade Berry Me (no 006) and feels so lovely to wear, it’s not drying and stays on pretty much all day, The eyeshadow  is beautiful, this one is in Back To Nature (001) which has four gorgeous earthy toned shadows and is perfect for an every day look, I absolutely loved wearing all four shades.

Honestly, I cannot resist Jemma’s shop on Etsy that I have so many of her prints all over my office wall. These two stunning  copper quotes help keep me motivated every time I’ve a day when I feel I can’t achieve what I’ve set out to do, I’ve had a lot of moments like that this past month, maybe it’s the change in the weather! Anyway, I would loved to have featured all of the things I’ve had from Jemma in this month’s favourite but we’d be here all day. I can’t recommend her enough for prints, notebooks, cute trinkets and stationery. You really should have a look for yourself.

Last, but not least, this has been my favourite outfit during May. This short sleeved, knee length floral dress from Dorothy Perkins has been perfect for the gorgeous weather. It’s fitted around the top half and flares out at the waist and made of soft jersey material. I’ve worn the dress with a pair of sandals and this wonderful pinky, nude and black tote bag I got on a recent trip to Primark. The bag has two grab handles with a longer strap and inside there is one larger compartment with two zipped sections. This bag goes with so many other outfits too. On chillier days I’ve loved wearing my faithful denim jacket from GAP. It’s last years but I still get a lot of wear out of it and it just looked lovely with this dress as well as so many other items in my wardrobe this season.

My feet are the one area of my body that I seem to neglect the most. After months of wearing thick tights and boots I wanted my feet to be in better condition for wearing my new  sandals* from Vionic. They were definitely in need of little pampering. With Summer just around the corner I thought I’d share my tips on how to get your feet ready for the warmer months with my At Home Pedicure.

Foot Scrub

I’ll start off by using Bare Foot Peppermint and Plum Foot Scrub to help get rid of  any dry flaky skin, which I’m sure you wouldn’t want on show in your summer sandals. This one smells divine!

Foot Soak

I’ve been using a foot pack from Beautifully Scrumptious, they fit over your feet like a pair of socks. They are enriched with Tea Tree, Peppermint and Vitamin E to help dry, rough skin and cracked heels. It looks a bit strange at first sitting there for 20 minutes with a foot pack on, but believe me it feels amazing.

Moisturise

I use a deep moisturiser, like Bare Foot Lavender and Mint Foot Cream, to give intense hydration for extremely dry legs and feet, it is enriched with Tea Tree Oil to help soothe tired, aching feet, whilst the smell of Lavender will help your whole body feel relaxed.

File and Polish

I can’t stand wearing open toe sandals without having my nails painted, so the final step for getting my feet Summer ready is to give my nails a quick file to give them a nice shape and paint them in my favourite nail polish, at the moment I’m wearing a peach shade called Bohemian Gypsy by Itsy Nails, followed by a top coat to make my nail colour last a little longer. I’ve also been putting on a cuticle oil just before I go to bed.

Having wide feet I’ve always had trouble finding summer sandals that not only fit and feel comfortable, but that look stylish with any outfit. These faux leather, black strappy sandals* from Vionic are good quality sandals and fit my feet perfectly, they are so comfortable it actually feels like I’m wearing slippers. These summer sandals look feminine enough to be worn with my summer dresses or casual jeans.

Years of wearing high heels and ill fitting shoes haven’t done my feet any good at all, it wasn’t until I had my feet properly measured last year that I discovered I was a size smaller than the shoes I had been wearing, just because I had wide feet. I searched around for a pair of wide fitting summer sandals but most of them were unflattering, so you can imagine my delight when I tried on these sandals* from Vionic for the very first time. I instantly fell in love with them.

They have been designed with the help of a Podiatrist. the foot bed is shaped so it will hold your foot nicely in place so they wont slip about. It also helps prevent pains in your feet, knees and back The straps have a velcro fastening meaning I was able to fit them to just the right size around my ankle without any pinching. These sandals are lightweight so they won’t tire your legs out but still give your feet the support they need. They are the kind of footwear you need if you’re going to be on your feet all day, great for long walks in the woods or along the beach.

I’ve already worn my sandals so many times, they looked beautiful with a knee length floral dress and my denim jacket when I popped into town on a shopping trip with the girls, I had quite a few compliments from my friends asking me where they were from. They are so adorable that I’ve worn them with a long maxi dress when I went to my neighbours garden party and still looked pretty when I styled them with my jeans and a stripy t-shirt for a Sunday afternoon stroll.

They look fabulous with any summer outfit, so I know what sandals I’ll be wearing on my day trip to Brighton in a few months time!

April flew past in a flash, I know I say this every month but April seems to have gone quicker than any other month. There was so much going on in my life, mostly good stuff and I am a little late putting up this favourites post, I’m sure you’ll forgive me.

I’ve been trying out loads of fab new products and it’s been so hard to narrow it down to which ones I’ve been loving the most, I’ve changed my mind like a zillion times!

Anyway, I’ll stop waffling and get straight down to business.

After months of my feet being stuck inside tights or socks with ankle boots, my feet were probably not looking there best. As the warmer weather is just around the corner, and hopefully I can finally start wearing my new sandals, I’ve been giving my feet a little extra love and attention. A couple of times a week I’ve been using Bare Foot Peppermint and Plum Foot Scrub to get rid of any dead, flaky skin especially around my heels and ankles. I’ve then applied Bare Foot Lavender and Mint Foot Cream, which not only smells incredible but leaves my feet feeling super soft. It also contains Tree Tree Oil to help soothe tired feet, so it’s great if you’re on your feet all day.

Staying on the subject of feet, I’ve been painting my toe nails just in case the sun does surprise me one day and for me I don’t wan’t my feet on show without a splash of colour, I really don’t like my nails bare if I’m wearing open toe shoes. I’m loving the cute pastel nail polishes from PoundLand as part of my mini at home pedicure. Lavender Cream and Popping Pink are just the prettiest colours ever! For a nail polish that only cost a £1, they are absolutely incredible, they dry super quick and last for ages before they start to chip.

I’ve been neglecting my hands a bit recently so when I saw one of my favourite hand treats was free with a magazine I gave in and bought it (one of my many weaknesses!). I’ve been using Neal’s Yard Remedies Wild Rose Hand Cream all month and it’s made my hands feel wonderfully soft again. I’ve been carrying it in my bag and applying it after my hands have been in water or when they just feel a bit dry. I’ve loved it so much that this one has run out, so it looks like I’ll be heading over to their website to order the full size product.

You may have seen these already over on my instagram, but I’m all about colour right now. I’m so in love with liquid lipsticks and for me NYX Liquid Suede has to be right up there at the top. The shade Run The World is a really vibrant purple and totally out of my comfort zone, but it is just a beautiful colour to wear and I’m trying to be even more daring with my makeup looks. The shade Pink Lust is a gorgeous bright fuschia which is probably more in keeping with what I’d normally wear and would look good day or night.. These are so lovely to apply, they don’t dry out my lips and last for ages after I’ve applied them.

I loved using Kat Von D Lock It foundation as part of my everyday makeup routine over this past month. Normally I’d have to apply a little extra foundation in the areas of my face that need a bit more coverage, but with this  one the first layer is more than enough to give me that flawless look. It feels so comfortable to wear, not heavy on my skin and it blends in so easily with my makeup sponge. I shall definitely be repurchasing this foundation and it’s going to be in my collection for quite a while yet!

I’ve finally got round to finishing Radical Self Help by Gala Darling. This book is not your typical self help book, it covers a range of topics but mainly self love and ways to bring positive energy into your life. Each chapter has a section of “homework” to do at the end, some of them I found fun and interesting to do. It made me look at areas of my life in a completely different way and learning how Tapping a body part can help you (no spoilers, sorry!). This book is absolutely brilliant, even if you’re a self help sceptic, I’d definitely recommend you read this book.

If you’ve seen my social media then you’ll already know how obsessed I’ve been with this New Look embroidered backpack ever since I got it, so I had to feature it in my monthly favourites. It’s so cute, the design has a Beauty and The Beast feel about it, which made me love it even more. It’s large enough for me to carry everything I need during the day and there’s a pocket either side for my essentials. I’ve been wearing it with a load of outfits such as the pink jacket I’m wearing in the photo and it looks great with my denim jacket too.

Have you tried any of these products? What have you been loving this month? Let me know in the comments down below.
