Blogging Giveaway

I have been blogging for just over two and a half years, where has time gone? I still can’t believe I’ve actually stuck with it, right from my very first outfit of the day post with just a few lines of waffle. So I thought I’d host a beauty giveaway to celebrate reaching 6k on Twitter and 1K on Instagram (and a long overdue blogging birthday, oops, sorry!).

I wanted to say thank you for supporting me, reading my blog and to those of you who’ve made my day by leaving lovely comments, retweets and interactions. It’s been a huge learning curve for me with so many things I never thought I could achieve, and there’s always been someone in the blogging community who has been able to give me some much needed advice. I’ve had some amazing opportunities and I’ve got to meet so many wonderful people through social media.

I began writing my blog as a hobby for myself, it’s been so reassuring to know there are people out there who not only read my posts but enjoy them too. So thank you, you’re the absolute best! Here’s to the next two and a half years.

Now let’s get on to the good bit!

Summer Beauty Favourites

As soon as the weather warms up and summer is knocking at the door I cannot wait to change my makeup routine and start wearing lighter, glowy makeup looks. Holidays, BBQs and days out mean I bring out some old favourites and invest in a few new products. I’ve not done an actual makeup routine for ages so I thought I’d let you delve into my makeup bag containing some of the beauty bits I’m using on a daily basis.

I won’t waffle on too much as there are quite a few products to get through.

Base

First up is Charlotte Tilbury Wonder Glow Primer, I’ve only recently picked this up but it’s already proven it’s worth every penny. I originally bought it to wear alone while on holiday and I’ve been wearing it ever since. It gives my complexion a natural glow either under foundation or on it’s own if I’m having a good skin day. Plus the SPF 15 will protect your skin from sun damage, always a bonus.

Continuing with the glowy look, my current favourite foundation has to be Giorgio Armani Luminous Silk Foundation. which I love because it’s buildable. I keep it to a light coverage during the day for a natural look and make it slightly heavier for a night out. This is my go to foundation as it’s not drying on my skin and after getting colour matched it just makes me look super flawless.

I’ve mentioned Urban Decay Naked Skin Concealer so many times before but this really is one of those products I’d cry if I ever ran out and didn’t have another tube. It’s the perfect shade and it’s not too heavy on the skin but still gives a nice natural coverage for both under the eyes and blemishes. On a good skin day I’ve just been wearing this with the Wonder Glow Primer for a quick five minute, natural base.

If like me you find there are days when even with the best will in world there’s that one area of skin that needs a little helping hand. I’ve been using Technic Corrector Stix, these three shades work wonders when I’ve had  few late nights and my skin has patches of redness and is looking a bit tired.

I’m not one for caking a load of powder over the top of my foundation but I do like to set my concealer with a light dusting of Makeup Forever Ultra HD Finishing Powder. I then take my large fluffy brush and using whatever is left on there to gently sweep over the rest of my base  My skin still looks lovely and dewy.

Cheeks

I have so many cheek products that are this summer’s beauty favourites. It’s hard to decide which ones to mention, even though my look varies slightly from day to day, I still love a glowy, dewy look and these five tick all the boxes for me.

I don’t tend to contour much during the summer, I usually take a small fluffy brush and add a little of the Estee Lauder Bronze Goddess into the hollows of my cheeks and around the top of my forehead to give my face some definition. Then using a large fluffy brush I’ll dust the same bronzer all over my face to give my skin a little warmth where the sun would naturally hit.

I’m still obsessed with Too Faced Sweet Peach Glow Palette. For an everyday glowy look I use the golden peachy blush shade on my cheeks just to add a natural hint of colour and using a fan brush I’ll sweep the highlighter shade over my cheek bones, as it gives just the right amount of shimmer when the light catches it. It’s such a pretty cheek palette, the powders are incredibly soft, blend in wonderfully and the shades are super pigmented. This one came in my travel bag when I went away for a few days last month. If I’m going on a night out and I’m after a more intense glow then I’ll reach for the Tarte Skin Twinkle Highlighting palette, which is absolutely gorgeous.

My two all time favourite blushers are Nars in the shade Orgasm and Milani Powder Blush in the shade Blossomtime Rose. They are both pinky golden tones, which really warm up the skin.

The final step to my base is a light dusting of Hourglass Ambient Lighting Powder, for an extra touch of shimmer, another product I simply cannot live without.

Eyes

There are only two eyeshadow palettes which I’ll be reaching for during the height of summer Last summer’s Naked Heat Palette has to make an appearance again this year, I mean the shades are simply stunning and extremely versatile, you can create so many fun, colourful looks for day or night with this palette. I tend to swap and change which shades I use, they all scream summer but my favourites are Lumbre, Layenne and En Fuego. If I’m running short on time then I’ll swipe one of the Maybelline Color Tattoos over the whole of my eye lid using a blending brush. They are brilliant on a hot day and the staying power of these beauties is absolutely incredible in sweltering temperatures.

The second eyeshadow palette I’m totally in love with is Charlotte Tilbury Golden Goddess. Admittedly I’ve only had this a few weeks but it’s already been used quite a few times and came in my travel bag for a mini break last month. There may only be 4 shades but believe me with these golden bronze colours you can create so many natural, smokey day to night looks. The powder formula is incredibly creamy and long lasting, each shade is highly pigmented and blends beautifully.

I don’t wear eyeliner during the day, if I’m going out in the evening I’ve been wearing a thin line of Flawless Eyeliner* by Flawless Lashes By Loreta close to my upper lash line to add definition. It’s completely budge proof and stays put even in hot weather.

Too Faced Better Than Sex Mascara is my go to mascara for beautiful fluttery lashes. I love the large brush, which coats every single lash, making them look thick and full of volume, one coat is definitely enough. It wears lovely throughout the day, no flaky bits drop onto my cheek.

Lips

Oh have I discovered three gorgeous lip products this year. I’m already a fan of Charlotte Tilbury’s Matte Revolution Lipsticks and I’ve recently picked up the shade Very Victoria, a beautiful browny nude, which is the perfect colour for every day.

I’ve totally fallen in love with Fresh Sugar Lip Treatment in the shade Petal. It’s a really pretty, natural pink colour that changes depending on your own natural lip colour. It tints your lips whilst treating them and making them look fuller and plumper.

My final lip product for the summer is Dior Lip Glow in the shade 001, a soft pinky tint. I’ve been wearing it alone for a natural look or to prime my lips before applying a matte lip colour. Both the Fresh Lip Tint and Dior Lip Glow leave my lips feeling incredibly soft.

I hope you’ve enjoyed having a look into my makeup bag and seeing what products I’m using on a daily basis this summer. Most of these came to Norfolk with me, to be honest I hardly wore any makeup at all during the day.

What makeup do you take on your travels?

Hempz Beauty Shower Gel and Lip Balm

Hemp seed oil has been around for a number of years and although I’ve heard of quite a few brands that use it in their products, I’ve never tried any. Imagine my excitement when I managed to get my hands on a couple of items from Hempz Beauty, a US brand that is now selling in the UK. Hemp seed oil is rich in vitamins, including Omega 3 and 6, I loved the thought of having all these health benefits in my beauty routine.

I thoroughly enjoy spending time getting ready in the morning, almost as much as a full on evening pamper session. What better place to start than with a gorgeous smelling body wash to make me feel energized and ready for the day ahead.

Hempz Beauty Pomegranate Body Wash

Hempz Beauty Pomegranate Body Wash is packed full of fresh pomegranates and, oh wow, it smells absolutely incredible. When I first picked up the bottle all I wanted to do was keep opening and closing the cap just to have a sniff. It’s moments like this I wish there was such a thing as smelly-vision.

It costs £16.99 for a 250ml bottle, however you do only need to use the tiniest amount, don’t do what I did and merrily squeeze away at the tube, resulting in a mass of frothy white bubbles on your shower scrunchy and all over your body. My bathroom sure smelt wonderful for the rest of the day.

I’ve used so many shower gels that have left my skin feeling like crumpled old newspaper, which is no good when I already suffer from dry skin. I want any product I use in the shower to moisturise my skin as well as leave me feeling clean. That’s not too much to ask for, is it?

Well, Hempz Beauty Pomegranate Body Wash did just that.

It leaves my skin feeling super soft and silky smooth, as though I had slapped on a handful of body butter whilst under the shower. I know this probably sounds daft when I’m talking about a body wash, but after about a week I even noticed a difference in the appearance of my skin. It looked super healthy and slightly more radiant that normal, my skin also felt really nourished and hydrated. This body wash is extra gentle but still leaves me feeling clean and refreshed, so it’s perfect for anyone who suffers from sensitive skin like I do.

Hempz Beauty Herbal Lip Balm

For me, a lip balm is one of those all year round beauty essentials, so finding one that softens the skin but doesn’t feel like a blob of glue stuck to my lips can be tricky. Hempz Beauty Herbal Lip Balm is really nourishing and leaves my lips feeling really soft, hydrated and flake free. This lip balm conditions and revitalises dry lips, I’ve been applying it on it’s own or under matte lip products, a couple of my liquid lipsticks can make my lips feel extra dry so I’ll add a light layer of lip balm to make them more comfortable to wear. This one is quite thick but again, you don’t need too much. It costs £7.99 for a 14g tube but I think this is going to last me ages.

Have you tried Hempz Beauty before? What’s you favourite body wash or lip balm?

Joan Collins Timeless Beauty review

I am a huge lover of beauty products in gorgeous packaging, so it surprises me that I haven’t tried anything from Joan Collins Timeless Beauty before now. Everything has a touch of Hollywood glamour and something you wouldn’t mind taking out of your handbag for freshen ups during the day. Joan Collins first launched her luxury beauty brand back in 2014 and her aim was to inspire any woman that she can feel amazing whatever her age. So whether it’s a special treat for yourself or  gift for someone else, here are two products I think you should know about.

The Joan Collins Timeless Beauty Compact Duo* includes a Meticulous Pressed Powder and Divine Lips Lipstick together. The compact has a classic gold design which looks very glamorous, the lid has a satisfying click when you close it and the lipstick stays firmly in place in it’s own little slot, making it easy to grab them both from the bottom of your bag. There’s a small mirror which is just about the right size for touching up throughout the day. You don’t great a massive amount of powder but it is has the softest, silkiest texture to it and comes in a translucent shade making it suitable for most skin tones. There’s even a mini puff so you can pat it on easily to cover up any shiny patches while you’re out and about. I usualy apply loose powder with a fluffly brush but found this one was perfect to apply just before I took a couple of selfies, it didn’t look dry and cakey on top of makeup I’d applied that morning. The compact cost £16.00 and is suitable for even sensitive skin.

Joan Collins Timeless Beauty Divine Lips Lipstick

The Divine Lips Lipstick came in the shade Melanie, which is a stunning, pinky plum colour, perfect for Autumn days or nights out partying. This has gorgeous gold packaging and yes it does look similar to another well known brand, but it’s the product inside that I’m wearing. The lipstick has to be the most incredibly hydrating lipstick I’ve ever tried and has a beautiful glossy finish, it goes on really smoothly and effortlessly without pulling my skin. I only needed to apply one coat as it’s highly pigmented, it’s super creamy texture also makes it  comfortable to wear and doesn’t dry out my lips. The only problem I found was that it didn’t last as long as I’d hoped, having said that I do love the lipstick a lot so I will have to invest in another shade of Divine Lips Lipstick, perhaps one that’s in a more neutral, everyday tone.

Joan Collins I Am Woman Eau De Parfum

I wasn’t too sure about The Joan Collins Timeless Beauty fragrance I Am Woman* when I first sprayed it as I usually prefer something that has a light floral smell, but the more I wore it, the more I fell in love with it. Now I’m not an expert at describing perfume so I will do my best. I Am Woman has a musky, woody feel to it, with a hint of citrus and warm florals which blend together well. It’s a perfect fragrance for the evening or a cold Autumn/Winter’s day, I do think it’s more suited for a woman rather than someone in their teens. The bottle looks absolutely beautiful sitting on my dressing table and it’s such a handy size to slip into my clutch bag for a night out, the fragrance does last for ages, I only sprayed it once and it still smelt gorgeous hours later. The 12ml bottle costs £15.00, plus there’s a 50ml bottle, and coming up to the festive season I think it would make a great stocking filler as it’s available in gift sets too.

Joan Collins Timeless Beauty

Overall I adore The Joan Collins Timeless Beauty range, it definitely feels luxurious and glamorous, and one that will make up you feel very grown up indeed.

Have you tried anything from this range?
