Lush Spring Treats

Instead of chocolate for Easter this year I asked my family to very kindly put the change they would have spent into a money box for me instead. I eat far too much chocolate and decided to get a few pamper goodies from Lush, every girl needs a little treat, right? I normally get given Lush Bath Bombs for Christmas and my birthday, which are only two weeks apart, then never bother the rest of the year. I was kind of excited to see what wonderful products they have in store during Spring. I’ve loved Lush for ages and they always make my bath time seem a little extra luxurious, I get totally lost in my own little world, soaking in all the wonderful smells.

This time I popped into one of their stores instead of buying my treats over the internet, which was probably a dangerous move. There were so many amazing products all set out on beautiful displays, all I had to do was decide which ones I wanted.

Adrian and I had taken a trip to Milton Keynes shopping centre, it’s been years since we took a drive over there and an awful lot had changed in that time. There were so many new stores, including Lush and of course I had to go in and see what new treats they’d got in for Easter. Luckily it was extremely quiet so I was able to have a good look round, it’s so much better than shopping on line. I was actually able to smell things before I decided on what to buy, obviously something you can’t do looking at an image on a screen. One of the lovely assistants came over to help, she talked me through their best sellers and any new items that were in stock, not once did I feel pressured into buying a thing. Once I’d chosen my pamper treats, they were wrapped in individual bags with their own label, somehow making them feel even more special that when they arrive in a cardboard box.

I decided on 2 bath bombs and 3 bubble bars.

Which Came First bath bath has the most amazing citrus smell with lemon and grapefruit oils, turning the water into swirls of orange and yellow. Crack it open and inside you’ll find a cute little chick shaped bath bomb so this one will last a while. The Free Rangers bath bomb comes in two sections, with a wonderful fragrance of burgamont and fruity blackcurrant, it turns your bath water a vivid purple and also comes in a range of other colours, you’ll get at least 4 baths out of this one.

I must have smelt a hundred bubble bars before settling on the three I loved best, which was not an easy thing, let me tell you.

Rose Jam Bubbleroon has to be my favourite out of everything I bought. It’s fragranced with roses, lemon and geranium, giving it a very sweet smell. the rose oil will help relax and lift your mood, while Cocoa Butter will moisturise your skin, leaving it silky smooth.

Cream Egg smells good enough to eat, I can’t wait to luxuriate in a bright neon coloured bath filled with bubbles and soaking in the delicious fragrance of mint chocolate, letting Shea Butter soften my skin and Spearmint lift my mood.

Citrus Are Doing It For Themselves is a wonderfully refreshing bubble bar with lemon, grapefruit and lime to help revive you after a long hard day, turning the water into the colour of a sunset.

The next Lush Haul will probably be for Christmas. Now there’s a scary thought!

Lush Christmas PicksIn two years of blogging I can’t believe I haven’t posted a Lush Haul and with all the gorgeous bath bombs and bubble bars in their Christmas range I couldn’t help but pick up a few treats. There’s something calming and relaxing about having a soak in the bath on a cold winters evening, followed by wrapping yourself up in a big fluffy robe and sipping on a hot chocolate or glass of wine.

I adore shopping at Lush and often pick up a few bits if I want to add something extra special to my bath or shower, but at Christmas I cannot resist all those wonderful smells and it’s almost like there’s a huge magnet right outside the door that drags me in the shop.

Now I’m all set for those cosy nights in and over flowing bubble baths.

Lush Christmas Picks

The first thing I picked up was a bottle of Snow Fairy Shower Gel as this is one of most my favourite scents from the Lush Christmas range, it has a sweet, candy bubblegum fragrance lathers up beautifully  and I think my December mornings wouldn’t be the same without it.

Lush Christmas Haul

To go with the shower gel I picked up a tub of Snow Fairy Body Conditioner, I honestly didn’t know what to expect from this apart from it smelling absolutely gorgeous. I have really dry skin and often apply an extra body cream, the Lush Body Conditioner is a thick, creamy formula which you wash off in the shower and it’s super hydrating.

I bought a few bits from Lush as gifts last Christmas so this year I couldn’t resist treating myself to a Magic Wand Bubble Bar. It smells absolutely gorgeous, with a sweet candy fragrance, and looks so cute sitting by my bath. You simply run a bubble bar under the tap or round in the bath for a bit, then it turns the water pink with loads of bubbles. If you only splurge on one bath product from Lush this year, make it the Magic Wand bubble Bar as you get two luxurious baths out of it,

Lush Christmas Picks

It wouldn’t be a Lush Haul without a few bath bombs added in, but I was spoilt for choice and I just wanted almost every one I saw. Being sensible, I narrowed it down to four.

Luxury Pud Bath bomb

This includes lavender and Ylang Ylang, so it’ll help to calm and relax me, perfect to unwind after a stressful day and it’ll help send me off to sleep. I can’t wait to see my bath full of all it’s bright, rainbow colours.

Snow Fairy Jelly Bomb

I was so excited when I saw Lush had a bath bomb in the Snow Fairy collection. This is just as amazing as the shower gel with a sweet candy cupcake fragrance, making my bathroom smell divine for hours afterwards. I couldn’t wait to try this bath bomb first, as soon as I dropped it into the bath it began to fizz and the water was full of beautiful pastel pink and white swirls. It took some time to fully break down and there were still a few bits floating in the bath, maybe as I don’t have really hot baths, however my skin did feel extremely soft and smooth afterwards.

Shoot For The Stars Bath Bomb

I was over the moon to see this bath bomb back in the Lush Christmas Collection as I’d seen it everywhere last year but never got round to buying it. It’s supposed to have an uplifting fragrance while turning the water a calming blue and releasing honey sparkles and golden stars. I’m daydreaming of getting in that bath right now!

Christmas Sweater Bath Bomb

My Christmas jumper and Santa hat this year are both pink and white, I fancied a change from the traditional green or red, so it only seemed right that I picked up this bath bomb to complete my cosy winter’s night in. It has such a warm, spicy fragrance, filled with lemon oil, ginger and mustard and designed to soothe away aching muscles after a hectic day. I I also bought one for Adrian while I was there as it’s not a feminine smell like my other bath bombs, lets hope he loves it as much as I do.

If you want to find out how I spend my cosy nights in I’ll leave the link here.

My feet are the one area of my body that I seem to neglect the most. After months of wearing thick tights and boots I wanted my feet to be in better condition for wearing my new  sandals* from Vionic. They were definitely in need of little pampering. With Summer just around the corner I thought I’d share my tips on how to get your feet ready for the warmer months with my At Home Pedicure.

Foot Scrub

I’ll start off by using Bare Foot Peppermint and Plum Foot Scrub to help get rid of  any dry flaky skin, which I’m sure you wouldn’t want on show in your summer sandals. This one smells divine!

Foot Soak

I’ve been using a foot pack from Beautifully Scrumptious, they fit over your feet like a pair of socks. They are enriched with Tea Tree, Peppermint and Vitamin E to help dry, rough skin and cracked heels. It looks a bit strange at first sitting there for 20 minutes with a foot pack on, but believe me it feels amazing.

Moisturise

I use a deep moisturiser, like Bare Foot Lavender and Mint Foot Cream, to give intense hydration for extremely dry legs and feet, it is enriched with Tea Tree Oil to help soothe tired, aching feet, whilst the smell of Lavender will help your whole body feel relaxed.

File and Polish

I can’t stand wearing open toe sandals without having my nails painted, so the final step for getting my feet Summer ready is to give my nails a quick file to give them a nice shape and paint them in my favourite nail polish, at the moment I’m wearing a peach shade called Bohemian Gypsy by Itsy Nails, followed by a top coat to make my nail colour last a little longer. I’ve also been putting on a cuticle oil just before I go to bed.

Having wide feet I’ve always had trouble finding summer sandals that not only fit and feel comfortable, but that look stylish with any outfit. These faux leather, black strappy sandals* from Vionic are good quality sandals and fit my feet perfectly, they are so comfortable it actually feels like I’m wearing slippers. These summer sandals look feminine enough to be worn with my summer dresses or casual jeans.

Years of wearing high heels and ill fitting shoes haven’t done my feet any good at all, it wasn’t until I had my feet properly measured last year that I discovered I was a size smaller than the shoes I had been wearing, just because I had wide feet. I searched around for a pair of wide fitting summer sandals but most of them were unflattering, so you can imagine my delight when I tried on these sandals* from Vionic for the very first time. I instantly fell in love with them.

They have been designed with the help of a Podiatrist. the foot bed is shaped so it will hold your foot nicely in place so they wont slip about. It also helps prevent pains in your feet, knees and back The straps have a velcro fastening meaning I was able to fit them to just the right size around my ankle without any pinching. These sandals are lightweight so they won’t tire your legs out but still give your feet the support they need. They are the kind of footwear you need if you’re going to be on your feet all day, great for long walks in the woods or along the beach.

I’ve already worn my sandals so many times, they looked beautiful with a knee length floral dress and my denim jacket when I popped into town on a shopping trip with the girls, I had quite a few compliments from my friends asking me where they were from. They are so adorable that I’ve worn them with a long maxi dress when I went to my neighbours garden party and still looked pretty when I styled them with my jeans and a stripy t-shirt for a Sunday afternoon stroll.

They look fabulous with any summer outfit, so I know what sandals I’ll be wearing on my day trip to Brighton in a few months time!

April flew past in a flash, I know I say this every month but April seems to have gone quicker than any other month. There was so much going on in my life, mostly good stuff and I am a little late putting up this favourites post, I’m sure you’ll forgive me.

I’ve been trying out loads of fab new products and it’s been so hard to narrow it down to which ones I’ve been loving the most, I’ve changed my mind like a zillion times!

Anyway, I’ll stop waffling and get straight down to business.

After months of my feet being stuck inside tights or socks with ankle boots, my feet were probably not looking there best. As the warmer weather is just around the corner, and hopefully I can finally start wearing my new sandals, I’ve been giving my feet a little extra love and attention. A couple of times a week I’ve been using Bare Foot Peppermint and Plum Foot Scrub to get rid of any dead, flaky skin especially around my heels and ankles. I’ve then applied Bare Foot Lavender and Mint Foot Cream, which not only smells incredible but leaves my feet feeling super soft. It also contains Tree Tree Oil to help soothe tired feet, so it’s great if you’re on your feet all day.

Staying on the subject of feet, I’ve been painting my toe nails just in case the sun does surprise me one day and for me I don’t wan’t my feet on show without a splash of colour, I really don’t like my nails bare if I’m wearing open toe shoes. I’m loving the cute pastel nail polishes from PoundLand as part of my mini at home pedicure. Lavender Cream and Popping Pink are just the prettiest colours ever! For a nail polish that only cost a £1, they are absolutely incredible, they dry super quick and last for ages before they start to chip.

I’ve been neglecting my hands a bit recently so when I saw one of my favourite hand treats was free with a magazine I gave in and bought it (one of my many weaknesses!). I’ve been using Neal’s Yard Remedies Wild Rose Hand Cream all month and it’s made my hands feel wonderfully soft again. I’ve been carrying it in my bag and applying it after my hands have been in water or when they just feel a bit dry. I’ve loved it so much that this one has run out, so it looks like I’ll be heading over to their website to order the full size product.

You may have seen these already over on my instagram, but I’m all about colour right now. I’m so in love with liquid lipsticks and for me NYX Liquid Suede has to be right up there at the top. The shade Run The World is a really vibrant purple and totally out of my comfort zone, but it is just a beautiful colour to wear and I’m trying to be even more daring with my makeup looks. The shade Pink Lust is a gorgeous bright fuschia which is probably more in keeping with what I’d normally wear and would look good day or night.. These are so lovely to apply, they don’t dry out my lips and last for ages after I’ve applied them.

I loved using Kat Von D Lock It foundation as part of my everyday makeup routine over this past month. Normally I’d have to apply a little extra foundation in the areas of my face that need a bit more coverage, but with this  one the first layer is more than enough to give me that flawless look. It feels so comfortable to wear, not heavy on my skin and it blends in so easily with my makeup sponge. I shall definitely be repurchasing this foundation and it’s going to be in my collection for quite a while yet!

I’ve finally got round to finishing Radical Self Help by Gala Darling. This book is not your typical self help book, it covers a range of topics but mainly self love and ways to bring positive energy into your life. Each chapter has a section of “homework” to do at the end, some of them I found fun and interesting to do. It made me look at areas of my life in a completely different way and learning how Tapping a body part can help you (no spoilers, sorry!). This book is absolutely brilliant, even if you’re a self help sceptic, I’d definitely recommend you read this book.

If you’ve seen my social media then you’ll already know how obsessed I’ve been with this New Look embroidered backpack ever since I got it, so I had to feature it in my monthly favourites. It’s so cute, the design has a Beauty and The Beast feel about it, which made me love it even more. It’s large enough for me to carry everything I need during the day and there’s a pocket either side for my essentials. I’ve been wearing it with a load of outfits such as the pink jacket I’m wearing in the photo and it looks great with my denim jacket too.

Have you tried any of these products? What have you been loving this month? Let me know in the comments down below.
